23-year-old Anthony McGrew has been arrested for sexually abusing two underage girls, one of which he met on MySpace.

The Story County Sheriff’s Office says 23-year-old Anthony McGrew of Melbourne met one of the girls on MySpace.

They met in person two weeks later. That’s when authorities say McGrew sexually abused the 14-year-old Nevada girl. “At 23 years old, you’d know the difference as far as what’s appropriate and what’s not as far as a 14-year-old,” says Lt. Dru Toresdahl.

The next time they agreed to meet, the girl brought a friend. Authorities say both were sexually abused. The Sheriff’s office was contacted by the girl’s parent, who found a note she had written a friend.

Some people feel 14 year olds are ready for these relationships and can handle boyfriends in their early 20s. I think they are misled in part by girls’ physical maturity as well as their new skill at acting classy in brief bursts. I wonder what it is though. That they look like young women?

No offense to all the 14 year olds reading this board.. heheh.. but what 20-something can even stand to be around 14 year olds? There has to be some conversation at some point. What do they talk about, their cell phone ringer? No matter what anyone thinks about right and wrong, it’s obvious that there’s something mentally off about someone that wants to be a part of that world.
I would honestly like to hear some explanation of that. I’m 32 and I’m not sure I could last 10 minutes with even a 20 year old.

Guys in their early 20’s have the maturity level on girls in their mid to late teens. That being said, this guy should have known better.

But the girl(s) went back for seconds so, as much as the law and the “moral” majority says otherwise, he wasn’t 100% to blame.

Why isn’t anyone concerned that the girl lied about her age??? I have a friend that is 21 and she looks 12. Seriously! This girl has ruined the guy’s life. He believed she was the age she posted on her myspace page. Why aren’t her parents even partially responsible for this? If they had been paying attention to their child, maybe this man’s life wouldn’t have been ruined. I hate child molesters, but that isn’t what happened in this case. The law is to protect the innocent, but the sex was consensual. Those girls met him of their own free will. I’ll bet this isn’t the first time this girl has had sex either. I just can’t imagine a parent giving their fourteen year old child the kind of freedom that would allow them to lie about their age, entice an older man, and have sex with him. Then… to blame the man for everything that has happened. The investigators in this case are just as culpable for not realizing the truth through their investigative process. Obviously the girl lied on her web page. Was the young man supposed to ask her for her identification? Get real, people!!!

Even if he knew they were 14…
Have you seen his profile? He has that complete good-boy image (just look at the smile on his face) despite one measly mistake he made. I take he’s not into drugs and it says he doesn’t even drink…he looks harmless and a lot safer to society than most people are these days. It&rsquos probably his first offense, he didn’t go out to hit and quit it unlike most guys do these days either. He doesn’t look like he has the mentality to force these girls beyond their will and lie to them so he doesn’t get caught.

He doesn’t deserve full blame for this, they should look at the parents as an accomplice for not better sheltering their kids, and for the parents. Oh my god!… The worse thing you’ve done was to even tell the police before talking to him first to make sure he’s not potentially dangerous. I mean your girls could of have better lives if it wasn’t for you humiliating them and him, I’m sure they’re looked at as sluts now in their school(s), made fun of behind their backs if not in their faces.

i have knows anthony for a while and yes he doesnt seem like the guy that would do this.. But also doesnt mean he doesnt feel bad about it and wishs he can take it back.. I have been threw this with my boyfriend when he slept with a 14 yr old and she lied about her age.. Come on when I was 14 I knew what I was doing and what was right and wrong… Seriously they need to look at the girl and relize hmm she needs something out of this.. Theses lil 14 yr olds ruin peoples life and they dont care cause there not gettin into trouble.. Maybe if they have to go threw what the guys do they wouldnt be calling rape.. Come on you ruin someones life for the next 10 yrs if they have to be on the sex offender list for what revenge.. Thats real smart!

I knew Anthony. I met him off myspace too. I did stuff with him when I was 13. I’m now 18. All we did was kiss and if he was going to rape me, he could have because he could have over powered me very easily. He didn’t seem like the type of person to rape someone. My mom wanted to press charges because we kissed. That didn’t work out very well. But if those girls lied about their age, then he shouldnt be in jail. Anthony looked harmless but he was very manipulating with his words and I don’t think anyone understands that. When a girl is young, they believe anything. Me, I just wanted the attention and he was nothing but kind to me. I want him outa prison because he did nothing wrong. I highly doubt he actually raped them. They were more than likely willing to do whatever due to how manipulating he was and because they were trying to grow up too fast just like most girls do. I dont know if anyone is going to read this, it could be 5 years later, just like I read the ones 5 years ago. He’s going to be 29 in March. He’s getting older and needs to be out and enjoy his life. I don’t care what anyone says, he did nothing wrong.
