Alleged autistic ruled competent to stand trial

I’ve posted about Robert Derderian before. He’s the 19-year-old supposed autistic from New Hampshire who allegedly sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl and videotaping the assault. He’s also accused of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl several times.

He’s not speaking to his attorney, which she claims is because of autism, Asperger’s, ADHD, and, as the article puts it, another unspecified learning disorder that limits his speaking abilities. That’s very convenient. The prosecution thinks he has a case of faker-itis and I tend to agree.

Anyway, since I last posted about this, it seems that he’s had top mental competency tests. The first report found him to be mentally competent. The second one is under review as we speak.

Like I’ve said previously, if he had the mental capacity to videotape a sexual assault I’m pretty sure he can talk to his lawyer.

    When was he diagnosed, that will provide a good idea if he is faking it. If he was diagnosed a week after it happened and he is claiming AUTISM (asperger’s goes undiagnosed, autism doesn’t and the whole not speaking thing is autism) then he is faking it. If he was diagnosed at the age of 3 he is not faking it though he could be exagerating symptoms. Does the prosecution or defense have anyone backing them up, or is it all just working the cameras at this point.

    And this sounds like one of your buddies Bryan- Gay dude wants to off his ex-lover’s girlfriend with bugspray and pays an undercover cop 5 bucks and some pills. Is he faking aspergers too or just dumb?

    And here is the authority on Ad Homiem, someday I will have to teach you how to debate. I am mostly agreeing with Trench, he is probably totally faking his symptoms. I am just wanting to hear an actually medical professional talk and not just a DA. Is that too much to ask?

    For once you’re right. I may have used some literary license in this post. I do not doubt his autism I just don’t think it’s as severe as he’s portraying it.

    Well, severe autistics (more severe then me so don’t go there, please) have been know to have problems with statutory rape if they don’t understand socital norms… But they would never video tape it and this hardly sounds like it is just statutory rape. Going beyond that he is defientally faking some symptoms or probably more likely he has a retarded lawyer who is telling him too. He might be able to get off a bit lighter if he would just be his honest self and not fake this shit. Oh well, not my fight.

    Actually, I don’t think I have a friend who ever did anything illegal. So how exactly is he like one of my buddies? Because hes gay? So every straight person is like one of your buddies? Thats nice.
