Mother released on bail after charged with buying weapons for son:

Michele Cossey, the mother of Dillon Cossey, has been released on bail. She was charged with buying a .22-caliber handgun, a .22-caliber rifle and a 9-millimeter semiautomatic rifle for her son. Dillon Cossey was arrested for plotting an armed attack against Plymouth Whitemarsh High School in Pennsylvania.

Investigators said in court papers that the mother bought the rifle, which had a laser scope, at a gun show in September and provided police with a receipt.

A laser scope? Nice. Way to make sure your kid has deadly accuracy.

Luckily Dillon Cossey was never in possession of any ammunition.

    I see nothing wrong with purchasing guns. WE have a few guns but also my husband came from a farm family that would hunt dove, quail and rabbits and then eat them for dinner. My husband likes guns because of the novelty and memories. My kids have no idea of how to load one and they are locked at all times. I am personally glad my husband doesn’t hunt now and hasn’t taught my children because if it doesn’t come from the store already in plastic and styrofoam, then I won’t eat it. As a mother, I would not buy my boys guns. Just because that seems like a dad thing. I think I’m rambling, but my point is… keep them locked up! They aren’t toys. Buy a Wii or Xbox360. Duh!!

    I have no problem with people purchasing guns as long as they’re used responsibly. In the situation of the Cosseys it’s obvious that they were not.
