Katherine Lester off again

You all remember Katherine Lester, don’t you? She was the 16-year-old girl from Michigan who ran away to be with her boyfriend that she met on MySpace. And by running away I mean flying to Israel because her boyfriend lives in West Bank. She was stopped in Jordan before she could reach Israel and was returned home to Michigan.

Now she’s 18. But don’t think you have a chance, guys. She only has eyes for the Middle East and she’s heading back.

The article I linked to says she’s spending less than a week there and then returning home. However, this article says that it’s a one-way ticket. If that’s true I honestly fear for her safety.

She is in West Bank safely, we talked to her today. She plans on coming back in 5 days and she says it is beautiful there!

I last talked to Katherine this afternoon. According to her, she had just flown in and had met Abdullah for the first time. From what she said, she seemed like she was ‘happy’ and ‘having a good time’.

Since this story has been followed for so long (since last june) and has so many different things said, I am offering anyone my contact information to tell what I do know.

Gosh, I hope she comes home soon…. I’m pretty worried. Its not necessarily any particular part of the world— Almost EVERY guy I know is really sweet at first, and then totally changes once he has you. I hope this guy is being good to her. And I hope she is ok. Anyone heard anything??

Extremely offended

You know, everyone says it&rsquos nobody&rsquos business but Katherine and Abdullah&rsquos. I say that couldn&rsquot be more wrong! It&rsquos EVERYONE&rsquos business, because it has effected all of us!

Katherine and Abdullah THINK they have shown the whole world how much they love each other. But this is what they really did:

Katherine:

1. Made her parents look neglectful, by purposely hiding her relationship with Abdullah from them.
2. Made her mother look gullible and irresponsible by tricking her into getting the passport.
3. Made her family look dysfunctional by running away.
4. Made herself look incredibly foolish for using the above actions to fly off to the other side of the world, and be with an adult she has never met, except over the internet.
5. Made Abdullah&rsquos mother look like an accessory to the whole thing, by implying that her family was totally OK with it all.

Abdullah:

1. Helped Katherine to do all of the above, by encouraging and financing the entire thing, even though he knew it wasn&rsquot the smartest way to go about it. Seriously, did he see this as a vacation??? What does he think happens when a family discovers that their child is missing?!
2. Helped his mother look like an accessory, because he knew Katherine wasn&rsquot telling the truth about her family supporting the whole thing.
3. KNOWINGLY broke U.S. Law and contributed to the delinquency of a minor. I don&rsquot care what country you live in. You know that&rsquos against the law.
4. Made himself look like an internet predator, by behaving like one.
5. Made the rest of his people, religion and country look like they have sunken to the level of praying on American children through the internet.

Granted, they claim to love each other very much. But where was all this unstoppable love when Abdullah should have been doing everything he could to get a Visa, and fly over to see Katherine??

Quite frankly, they did NOT make the romantic, passionate display of behavior they think they did. They don&rsquot understand that this goes way beyond just the two of them! All they really did was show how desperately insecure, naive, immature and thoughtless they both are, by putting everyone else&rsquos character at risk (as well as their families&rsquo lifestyle, because of the media attention). They&rsquove made the rest of Abdullah&rsquos countrymen look untrustworthy, and POORLY represented American teens and parents in general!—- All for the sake of not having to &ldquowait&rdquo. Not to mention they scared the crap out of every parent who owns a computer&hellip.

Aside from stealing, vandalizing or physically harming someone, there&rsquos almost nothing more disrespectful or thoughtless they could have done, to so many people at the same time.

The whole thing is a total embarrassment to BOTH sides of the Atlantic.

Extremely Offended

True, but 90 percent of those match seekers don’t encourage and finance MINORS lying to their families and dissappearing without a trace. We’re speaking of the first incedent, which is completely different from other “online hook-ups”. And you have to admit, reguardless of Katherine’s current adult age, any man who will encourage a young girl to dissapear on her parents without a single word, has VERY questionable character…. And not very much common sense. Honestly, did he think her family would just come home and say, “Oh look– Katherine is gone….. Oh well!” And not do anything about it?

He SAID (after the first incedent) he planned for them to stay there “for a couple of days, and then come back together”. BULL!! He’s a liar!

1– Since Katherine was a minor and did not have her parents consent to marry, the marriage would not be recognized under U.S. law. Only in HIS country. Abdullah knew that! If he really intended for her to come back in a few days (or at all), why would he enter into a marriage that was only valaid in HIS country?? Think about it.

2– It takes a HELL of a lot longer than a couple of days to apply for a marriage Visa to the USA. ESPECIALLY for a middle easterner. Everyone knows that, world wide! And you can’t do it AT ALL, with a minor, who did not have parental concent to marry. Because once again, the marriage would not exist under U.S. law. Anyone with common sense can figure that out.

So if (despite all this) he still encouraged Katherine to dissapear without a trace— He obviously had NO good intentions with her at all.

I love my sister….and I love her dearly. I will always love my sister. Her safety will always be one of the top priorities in my life. She is my only sister….how could I not worry about her?!

BUT…..

the past year and a half the actions of them both have put my family and I through emotional hell. No matter what we do nothing gets through. You can only beg and plead so much……..there comes a point when you feel like there is nothing else you can do.
I love my sister. I would give anything to make things different. I would give up anything and everything to make her see what everyone else sees…….but you can’t continue to fight a battle thats already lost.

I wish things were different….I wish I could kidnap her and hide her in my basement. I wish I could have an effect on her like he has. If I could do something other than what I have already done….I would have done it by now.

People say that there will come a time where we will have to let her go and basically ruin her life. At first my reaction was to tell everyone to fu** off….that she was sister and there was no way I was ever giving up……but seeing how she is with him I know that I can’t do anything but be here for her whenever she needs me. That doesn’t mean that I can’t give her ‘tought’ love in the process.

I just hope that she stays safe. After all the begging and pleading I am worn…..the whole family is.

I pray every night that she changes her mind….I am waiting for that day to come…..hopefully it comes soon.

well offende did make some very good points. i am amother of 3 girls myself. and no i would never tolerate such actions out of any of them. i am just confused as to why he just couldnt come to the usa?. its waaaaaaaaay safer right now for starters. i mean i only live one state down from michigan i dont hear of all kinds of killin and such ,lol in michigan lately. anyways still 2 mary best best wishes..im sure things will work out eventually for you , your family and katherine. sincerely tiff

Well, well, here it is November and she’s still not back. Hmm, my friend just had his fiance come into the US from Korea. She’s here, no problem. Ever wonder why he hasn’t come yet? Maybe he can’t get into the US. Maybe his family has been looking for an American girl to use as protection in their country. His father does have a business, maybe they needed leverage for protection. This bimbo is a perfect offering in exchange for something his government may want. I have three children, and if one of them ever…… All I can say is as a mother I would have been over there by now, passport in hand, meeting this family. When she was 16 and tried this the FBI should have red flagged her name so that she was a security threat to fly outside of the country, isn’t that what we pay Homeland security for? I say let her learn to follow three paces behind, keep her face covered, and kneel to any many that commands it. After all, she certainly had no discipline here. Maybe she’s getting hers kicks with it now. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid.

There is only one thing that is going on in abdullah’s mind and that is “green Card”. It is pretty easy to get a green card once you marry an American citizen. I feel sorry for Katherine, one day she will realize that Abdullah is using her.

I am not sure if Katherine came home yet but there is something about this that makes me very sad. I don’t approve of what Katherine did…AT ALL! I think it was selfish and stupid…but I just hope that it doesn’t cost her her life…This guy is bad news and it won’t work out happily ever after between the two of them…I just hope she realizes it before it is too late 🙁

Hello Mary,

I totally understand your concern about your sister, but I have faith in God that she is ok and Abdullah is taking care of her. I am an American Muslim married to a middle eastern man. I think that your sister and Abdulla do truly love each other, but the culture differences are creating great problems that are truly devastating to both families. I have a feeling your sister may already be married to Abdullah, as it is not acceptable to Muslim families, especially in the middle east to date, much less live together without being married. I think your sister may not be telling you everything because she doesn’t want to hear “negativity” from her family, which is sad. I think the best way to approach this situation is by contacting Abdullah’s family and accepting them, as they have accepted your sister. I think that you should meet with his family- face to face and find out more about them. They may want to contact you, but they may not know how. I think the reason why Abdullah hasn’t applied for the paperwork is because he may want to continue living in Palestine, as opposed to America, but he doesn’t know how to say this to you without causing trouble for his family/friends. From the Dr. Phil show, I could tell that Abdullah is extremely immature. The best thing to do is to try to talk to his family, especially his mom and explain to her your pain and concerns. To most middle eastern men, their mom’s are the world, so in order to get him to do what you want, you must treat his mother with utmost respect and befriends her. If Abdullah truly is a practicing Muslim, he wouldn’t have done this in the first place. Do you have Abdulla’s mother’s phone number, so maybe I can have my inlaws speak to her? I know my in-laws are extremely religious and understand the importance of getting along with families whether they are from the same religion or not. I just wish I could help you communicate with his mom for her to convince her son to treat your daughter with respect and love that he supposedly has for her. Maybe you can get the Imam from the Muslim community in your town to contact Abdullah’s family and explain your concerns. Just go directly to him and he will certainly help you out. Exposing Abdulla on tv, is probably not the best thing to do, as most middleeastern men tend to keep their “problems” hidden from the world. Look, just go to the Imam and stress the importance of getting your sister back safely, as you feel that Abdullah is not respecting your daughter and his religion. The Imam is open to speak with anyone,but you might want to make an appointment and remember to dress appropriately when you go to the mosque (maybe even wear a scarf on your head). I wish you the best and keep you in my prayers.

Katherine needs to come home plain and simple. She is to young to have the pressure of this man on her. I hope to God she does not get married before Friday as this would be the worst scenario. Abdullah is deceptive from day one and I would venture to say Katherine is being abused mentally and physically. A young teenager going through this emotional stress can not be expected to make any decisions much less the correct ones.

Any dialouge with his parents is so unlikely as they have helped Abdullah to get her over there. How can they be trusted? Religion is not even a factor this girl is lost and Abdullah is lost as well.

To Katherine’s family you will be in my prayers for final return for Katherine and for the facts to come out about the lies that have been told by all.

This whole story seems just rediculous and fake and it is nothing more than a STORY!! It is just too unusual to believe, and who shares their family issues on NATIONAL TELEVISION!!!! I’m sorry but this is just another tactic to make Palestineians look like and Palestine is only referred to as Palestine instead of Israel only in a negative situation… why is that? Is “Abdullah” really Palestinian because I never heard such an unusual Arabic accent. I honestly dont believe this and if this is real then this has to be the most disfunctional situation EVER!! This whole story is just ridiculous. I did not see anybody support this young Palestinian guy, only try to make him look bad. He is a very young man (not an older man, as Dr.Phil said couple of times on the show) Abdullah don’t understand half, what was going on, what they was saying, because he’s English is not that good. If count all the people who was against him, Katherine’s family, Dr.Phil and his casting people in Palestine,….
He was completely alone facing all this people, who has hatred towards all Arabs and this is very clear if anyone watched this show, would know it. Most people are very arrogant, if it involves anybody from the Arab world.
He is only 20 years old. He was completely without any support.
Everyone pushed him like if He is a terrorist. You all think this is right?
Everyone listen to what Katherine and her family has to say (true, or a made up lies for the show.)
I would like to know why Dr.Phil kept quiet about the money what Katherine’s mother asked from this poor guy to send her?
