6 Arrested in West Virginia After Woman Abused, Held Captive in House for a Week:

LOGAN, W.Va. ” A woman was sexually abused, beaten and humiliated while being held captive in a home for at least a week, sheriff’s officials said Monday after making six arrests and calling the FBI to investigate it as a possible hate crime.

Those arrested, including a mother and son and a mother and daughter, are white. The victim, a Charleston woman who was being treated at a hospital Monday, is black.

Deputies found the 23-year-old victim Saturday after going to the home in Big Creek, about 35 miles southwest of Charleston, to investigate an anonymous tip. One of the suspects, Frankie Brewster, was sitting on the front porch and told deputies she was alone, but moments later the victim limped toward the door, her arms outstretched, saying “help me,” the sheriff’s department said in a news release.

Besides being sexually assaulted, the victim was stabbed four times in the left leg and beaten, Porter said. Both of her eyes were black and blue. Deputies said the woman’s wounds were inflicted at least a week ago.

During her capture, the victim was forced to eat rat and dog feces and drink from the toilet, according to the criminal complaint filed in magistrate court. The woman also was choked with a cable cord and her hair cut, it alleges.

One of those arrested, Karen Burton, is accused of cutting the woman’s ankle with a knife. She used the N-word in telling the woman she was victimized because she is black, according to the criminal complaint.

Deputies say the woman was also doused with hot water while being sexually assaulted.

The six suspects were arrested Saturday and Sunday. Deputies were still trying to determine whether the victim knew her assailants and how she came to be at Brewster’s home, Porter said.

Frankie Brewster, 49, is charged with kidnapping, sexual assault, malicious wounding and giving false information during a felony investigation. Deputies said she was the woman on the porch.

Her son, Bobby R. Brewster, 24, is charged with kidnapping, sexual assault, malicious wounding and assault during the commission of a felony.

Burton, 46, of Chapmanville, is charged with malicious wounding, battery and assault during the commission of a felony.

Her daughter Alisha Burton, 23, of Chapmanville, and George A. Messer, 27, of Chapmanville, are charged with assault during the commission of a felony and battery.

Danny J. Combs, 20, of Harts, is charged with sexual assault and malicious wounding.

Just when you think people like this were a dying breed some ignorant sadistic fucktards rear their ugly inbred heads.

This is to these 6 scum filled brains of those arrested. I wish for you all the most, excruciating pain filled deaths when the time comes. I wish you the most unhappy living conditions always. I wish you all the worst and more till the day you die. I wish you all hell, disease (which you already carry) and despair. I wish you grief, horror and uneasy uneasiness. I wish you all untold hurt forever. I hope you all these things and more. You are all waste and you look worse.

No really suprised! People don’t grow up and
become racist and violent, that is stuff they
    learn from their family, thus…..
People need to watch out, because if you continue
to beat a dog (not calling anyone a dog), they
are going to eventually bite back. Hopefully,
they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent
of the law, but probably not… just a
slap on the wrist… lets refer to Jenna 6!!

that was Louisiana. Not excusing racism, but it is highly prevalent in the south eastern states. It is odd to me that if you go to NY and CA you will find more black on black crimes and black on white crimes than white on black crimes. go to Louisiana, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, West Virginia (you know, the places in America that haven’t grown beyond the 1400s) white on black crime is utterly disgusting.
It makes you wonder why Al Sharpton wastes his time in NY when he would be better suited to fight in those states.

I disagree. I saw more instances of racial and religious hate crimes in New Jersey than I have in the Carolinas.

It’s strange. The KKKers and Neo-nazi fucks are always, ALWAYS the stupidest, dirtiest, most inbred white assholes. THEY are the true MUD PEOPLE, I don’t care which state they come from. I have NO PATIENCE for them. They are scum…and BUSH VOTERS.

    They are scum…and BUSH VOTERS.

I voted for Bush and I in no way possible endorse what happened to this poor woman. Intolerance works both ways you know.

In all fairness, both sides of the political spectrum have a Klan element in them. I think it was a huge error in judgment on the Democrat’s part to put that nut Byrd as President pro-temp for the Senate. They picked him for his seniority, I guess, but an old racist fossil is an old racist fossil none the less.

Still, if anyone believes that either political party is the ‘right’ way to go then they probably don’t follow politics enough.

Oh, and I never once voted for Bush. I feel like I made the right call on that one, not that it matters now.

Just to let you know that most West Virginians are just as appalled by the events in Logan County as the rest of you. Enough of the “dueling banjos/fucked a cousin/15 last names” bullshit. By the way, the only place where I actually witnessed a hate crime was Boston.

First of all the KKK was created as a terrorist group to fight Republicans. There are no republican element to the Klan. Get your facts straight. Its a Democrat organization. Democrats have tried to keep blacks down since the civil war. It has been republicans that gave this country freedom for slaves and civil rights.

Now that the history lesson is over, this story is quickly falling apart. We do not have a hate crime here. We have a Jerry Springer episode. Megan Williams was getting her redneck sex on with Bobby Brewster for months. They were boyfriend and girlfriend. He smacked her around too, but that didn’t keep her from coming back to his lovin’ arms.

And Megan Williams liked Bobby enough to keep coming back to have sex with him, even though she knew that:

1 Bobby lived in a disgusting trailer with his demented Mom.
Bobby either lived with rats or kept rats as pets.
2 Bobby had threatened to kill his own mother with a machete.
3 Bobby’s mother had just been released from prison on a manslaughter rap of her own.
4 Bobby was an abusive drunk.
5 Bobby had already beaten her once in July and the incident involved the police.

So despite Megan Williams knowing this about her asshole of a boyfriend, she kept coming around to get some of his redneck lovin. And it seems like this last time he wouldn’t let her leave his trailer home. I’m not saying Megan Williams deserved to have this incident happen to her. But she should hardly be surprised.

I couldn’t have said it better myself. If only punishments were “an eye for an eye”. Who wouldn’t want to force all of them to eat dog shit? And that sick old bitch that forced the victim to lick her rotten crotch, I would make her eat rotten tuna fish. That is the only punishment that would satisfy me. If it was my daughter, I would stop at nothing to make sure they get what they deserve, even if it took the rest of my life…….

I cannot believe you would even insinuate such a thing. It’s fucktards like you that think women ask to be raped! So what if she *WAS* his girlfriend? I’m sure she never expected anything like this and would have never been there if she had foreseen such a thing! Everyone is supposed to have a crystal ball now to know that people they trust or care about are going to go manson and try to destroy them? My god- can you be anymore chauvenist? Are you racist as well? Would you have said the same about a white girl going back for more “redneck lovin’”? No- you would be outraged. I don’t care if this chick was pink with purple polka dots- a human being is a human being, and neither she nor anyone else deserves the humiliation and torture these scumbag white-trash pigs inflicted upon her. It only makes me even more sick to know that when they go to trial, their punishments will NOT fit their crimes, as the justice system seems to have empathy for the “poor, uneducated people of society who can’t help” that they are seriously fucked in the head and have to take out their deranged perversions on someone else because they were treated bad growing up. Get the fuck over it- everyone has bad stories from childhood and the *MAJORITY* of us handle it and grow up to care about people like Megan Williams. I’d like to see some good ‘ole down home justice take place- I’d like to see these pigs shot in cold blood on the courthouse steps- after they are made to eat dog shit in front of the world. I hope they rot in the very first level of hell.

  27. BelchSpeak Avatar

Stephenrow, I love your outrage, keep it up. As I said before, this story keeps falling apart. CNN is now also reporting that the two of them were romantically involved.

    http://edition.cnn.com/2007/US/09/12/woman.tortured/?imw=Y&iref=mpstoryemail

And now, the defense attorney for the victim is saying that drugs were involved. This woman Megan Williams is known to have disappeared for a long stretches of time according to her own mother. She didn’t have a car and asked to be *driven to the trailer.* Megan knew the place she was going to and what kind of people lived there.

I’m guessing she was there to do drugs or to repay a debt for drugs. Would you continue to express this outrage if it comes out that this woman was a common crackwhore? Im not saying she was, but noting that more information is coming out that makes it look like this woman was not as pure as the press is painting her to be.

I don’t believe the stories about eating rat feces either. Rats are city dwellers. Rattlesnakes and other predators take care of most rodents in the open country of West Virginia, which is where this took place.

Why do you want to believe so badly that a hate crime took place?

  28. Zigs Avatar
    Zigs

Of course there were drugs involved, you get a bunch of people together in a trailer park, you get drugs.

Even if she was a “common crackwhore” as you suggest I don’t see how it changes a thing. Hate crime or drug related crime, torture is torture.

  29. ZappaCrappa Avatar

And I STILL detest the term “hate crime”…as if somehow a crime is worsened or lessened because of the motivation to committ that crime.

  30. BelchSpeak Avatar

It doesn’t change much- except for the credibility of the victim, unfortunately.

  31. stephrow Avatar

I don’t need to believe it’s a hate crime. I am terrified of the things that human beings are able to perpetrate on one another these days. I don’t care *WHY* Megan went to that trailer. I don’t care what kind of lifestyle she has led. This girl is a HUMAN BEING and was treated worse than imaginable. I don’t care about her race, creed, religion, etc. The fact that these cretons could do such a thing proves to me that humanity still has light years to go before we reach civilization. When I look at people, I don’t notice differences in color, beliefs, sexuality, etc., I see people, and I afford every person the ability to live their life as they choose, despite what I believe is right or wrong. If she was a “crackwhore”, she still did not deserve to be tortured. But I refuse to condone torture and rape. I look at these six people, and even though they are the most vile-looking creatures I have ever seen, they had every right to lead whatever twisted, sicko, perverse life they chose- until they decided to torture this girl. OK- I’m going astray now, but basically- whatever her lifestyle that you don’t agree with, she did not deserve this. NO ONE does.

  32. Trench Avatar

    Amen brother…or sister.

  33. BelchSpeak Avatar

I *never said* anyone deserved to be raped or tortured. But there are *consequences* for people’s actions. She wouldn’t have been injured at all if she made better decisions about who she chose to associate with.

If you hang out with murderers and drug dealers, guess what? You might get hurt.

My whole contention is that had this woman been white, and been reported as a known drug user, this story would never have garnered national attention.

  34. Trench Avatar

I disagree. I think with the level of abuse inflicted it would have still been a national headline.

I JUST HAD TO SPEAK ON THIS… FIRST OF ALL I COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY CANNOT STAND THE SIGHT OR SOUND OF GEORGE “DUBBA-U” BUSH BUT… HE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS SO….ANYWAY, I DONT CARE IF THIS GIRL WAS GOING TO THAT TRAILOR TO SMOKE HER BRAINS OUT- REGARDLESS SHE WAS TORTURED AND DISREGARDED AS A HUMAN BEING AND THAT MAKES ME SICK. THE THING THAT MAKES ME EVEN MORE SICK IS TO LOOK AT THE PICTURES OF THESE PIECES OF CRAP AND I THINK TO MYSELF “HOW CAN THESE PEOPLE HAVE THE NERVE TO DISLIKE ANYONE WHEN THEY LOOK LIKE THEY SHOULD BE IN LINE AT THE METHADONE CLINIC.” I DON’T KNOW THE PERSONAL HISTORY OF THESE PEOPLE BUT I CAN TELL YOU THIS… THEY WILL DO IT AGAIN TO SOME OTHER POOR GIRL IF ANY OF THEM SEE DAYLIGHT AGAIN…

  36. BelchSpeak Avatar

I dunno Trench. Compare this story, to the Channon Christian and Christopher Newsome story. That was probably a hate crime, but it never garnered national attention, even though the victims were killed.

This one, the victim walked away, and the press went nuts.

  37. stephrow Avatar
    stephrow

Belch I agree that you never said those things, and I agree that there are consequences for your actions. She made a bad decision to associate with those folks, and she made a bad decision to go to that trailer. But we don’t always know that we’re making a bad decision. We do what we know, go where we’re comfortable, be who we know how to be. Sure, in hindsight, she probably should have known it was a bad idea to go there, she should have been a pure, innocent, virgin-like woman as well. But she wasn’t. I’m not. I’m sure you’re not. I’ve been in a lot of bad places in my life, and thank God nothing this horrific happened to me. But going into those places, I trusted who I was with, the people there, I just never thought about what might happen. And I preach this to my children all the time- you cannot live in fear of what might happen or you miss the joy of what DOES happen. I’m sure she thought she was ten foot tall and bullet proof. If we are to anticipate all of the bad things that can happen to us, and live each day trying to avoid those things, we might as well stay in our homes and never come out. I know there is evil out there. The depravity of humanity never ceases to amaze me. But I want to live my life, and have the ability to live it unharmed, and to know that if I am harmed, the violaters will be prosecuted to the fullest extent. I remember a boyfriend I had when I was 18. He was a wonderful person, I thought. But he lived in a dump, drove a hoopty, and drank too much. But I was an idealist. He said he loved me. That was enough. But looking back on it now, he could have done anything to me in his house 1 state over from mine with just the two of us there. You just NEVER know. But until our justice system figures out how to consistently punish criminals, we will always have terds like these running loose, and it’s just something that we have to be aware of and try our best to prepare for. I simply want these shits to be prosecuted swiftly and severely, despite whatever provocation they may claim they had or someone may think they had. They violated this girl in too many ways to think about, and no matter what she has done, she did not deserve what they did to her.

Belch- I truly respect you and I’ve read many of your comments. I hope you haven’t taken offense at anything I’ve said. I am just overwhelmed in my grief for this girl, and I guess I think everyone else should be as outraged as I am. I tend to stand on a soapbox made of sand when I preach! Anyway, I didn’t mean to try and force my views on anyone.

  40. BelchSpeak Avatar

No, I get that people are outraged and the emotion of this story has an impact.

I am just taking a wait and see attitude with this story to see what the evidence says and what charges are brought. (and what gets dismissed.)

I just have a feeling that the story was hyped by the press because they want a good hate crime story.

  41. Trench Avatar

I guess because I know of the Channon Christian I assume it was national news and from all police reports and everything I’ve read about that case it seems it wasn’t because they were white but just because they were there.
