Myspace site Reveals New Information About Accused Child Rapist:

17 or 18-year-old James Wamsley is accused of raping a 9-month-old boy over the Memorial Day weekend. According to the article, Wamsley is supposed to have posed for pictures with numerous guns. I didn’t see any gun pics. I’m guessing someone got to his MySpace after the article came out.

EDIT: The pics of him with guns are in fact still there. I didn’t go deep enough into his picture albums. Thanks to Ashley and Bob for pointing that out.

He is old enough to be responsible for his crime, yet still he is 17, where were his parents while being raised. it is a parents responsibility to raise a good moral child. some parents find saying no to hard while saying yes is easy. this seems a product of some of that parentsing and don’t tell me there were no warning signs, there always are some just like to deny them until something like this happens. he deserves jail time but it won’t be long enough he needs some serious psychologial help.

You have no idea what it feels like to find out the person that could do something so horrible to a child has been around and alone with your child many times. Not only is this poor family suffering but I’m sure its put others in pain just like it has mine. He may be family to you but what he did is unacceptable no questions asked!

Bridget, society and the courts will decide how to deal with your cousin James. He should recieve a harsh sentance if convicted. Upon conviction hopefully he will get what he deserves. It is too bad the maximum sentance can only be about 10 years. 15 to 25 would be more crime appropriate. Knowing the adult penal system he is in for a world of hardship. Sexual abusers usually recieve the same type of treatment they perpetrated. He will be a different person when released if he survives. There is a good chance of murder or suicide in his future. He should consider the latter for his sake ASAP.

Bridget, you are a brave and strong person more for your last posts. Your original post was made of concern and care for your cousin but the last two posts show a much more thoughtfullness and strength of character. People realize that unless someone in the family directed him on some course of violence or failed to supervise him adequately then no one but James is criminally responsible for his heinous actions. I have read posts that state he admited his guilt to his mother, but only the trial will determine his fate. If convicted he has destroyed his own life hurt the victim dramatically the victim’s family and James’s family. All for a momentary feeling of power or pleasure. Now if his myspace pictures and profile shows a personality of danger and his parents cared not to supervise his tendencies they do bear a high degree of fault for his actions. Was his drug use and gun obsession true? Why didn’t his parents monitor, control or correct his dangerous behavior. Rule of law is that if a child behavior exceeds that of an normal person of his age his parents can be liable for his actions. I don’t know if that pertains to adult charges. But if so his parents need to be held accountable for his behavior. Also if other family members knew of his possible violent, sexual criminal desires they have a moral guilt that they must bear.

I agree totally with what 99% of the people are saying on here. He doesnt “need help” its not a “mistake” a mistake would have been dropping the baby, or accidentaly leaving it unattended. I too did not have the perfect childhood chrissy. I was actually a victim of rape at 15. Yes, much, much different than a baby. Can’t even make that comparison however I know what it’s like.

Some people have brought up the fact that his parents/family and guardians were lacking in their abilities and supervision of this person. Lawmakers have not done enough to ensure that parents too are held responsible for their shortcomings in raising children. In some cases like vandalism parents can be economically liable for damages. I think that type of law should be expanded so parents are held responsible for their minor childrens legal infraction. James parents should be accountable for his lack of guidance and supervision. If these inept excuses for parents supervised James and corrected his actions, his gun infatuation and drug use he reported on My-Space could have been curtailed. Parents who were probably of the TV raised generation are leaving the supervision of their childre to either no one or the internet. Shruging off such duties and leaving the responsibility to others or no one is a major cause of this perverted childs crimes. His mother should be ashamed his parents more then anyone should have recognized signs and corrected and monitered James based on these warning. He was smoking pot and who knows what else and bragging about it to look tough on a publicly viewed site. Did his parents even care what their son was doing. Obviously they were too busy with other important things. More important then their child. What ever, jobs, parties, drinking, fucking. Remember if you took time to check up on him a child may not have been damaged goods forever, and James would not have to be a prison punk his life forever ruined and in the judicial system, losing any possible chance of ever having a decent or meaningful life.Well now jerks you don’t have to worry about him anymore. With any luck you will be dead by the time he is released or dies in prison. And you will not have to supervise or give him any real time or thought. Besides when he is released he will not be anything like you know or ever wanted. He will be a hardened con, institutionalized, not remembering or understanding the outside world, not be able to handle the smallest things anymore like interacting with others, controlling violence, handling a job. Odds are his future will consist of violence, crime, reoffending not being able to handle women or treat them normally, if involved he will abuse or beat her and their children, serious drug and alcohol abuse. Great future you gave your child, maybe you can have another and neglect him too but maybe he will turn out normal. Someone who knows how to raise children may take an interest in him or you can get lucky, because obviously you have no clue how to raise kids.

Randy: Although I agree with you in some ways, I have to disagree that the parents have to take full responsibility. We all do the very, very best (well, most of us) we can to teach our children right from wrong. We do everything we can to keep them safe. However that being said, I could never imagine my son doing such a horrendous thing to anyone, not to mention a baby. But, there is always the possibility they are doing things we don’t know about. My Mom was the best in the world. I did drugs, she had no idea, she believed me and trusted me. It was me lying to her and not the other way around. And it is not that she didn’t want to know, she monitered us well, kids always find a way.

I am not, in any way, defending this sick little creep, I am defending his parents to a point. There are things we just don’t know. My relationship with my children is very open. They talk to me about everything. That is what I think but how do I know for sure? I trust them to tell me but I am sure there are things I don’t know but that is hard for me to imagine but the possibility is always there. Maybe something snapped in his sick little mind at that time. Who knows. I just don’t think all the blame can be placed on the parents. It’s just not the way it should be. This “kid” is old enough to know right from wrong, whether or not he was taught the way most of us teach our children.

It is hard to imagine anyone committing such a horrendous crime but I am sure his parents are absolutely reeling from it. I assure you, if it was my son, I wouldn’t even buy him the depends when he was released. I don’t believe James will ever be released in any event, and not from a long sentence.

As far as guns…out of my league. I live in Canada. We do not carry guns around. I disagree with the US gun laws but that is just my opinion. I don’t know enough about your laws to comment further on it but if I ever saw my son with a gun, all hell would break loose. The thought process in the US on guns is totally different from ours.

Tracy: I understand what you are saying but Randy is just expressing his opinion. I think we all agree what should happen to that little puke.

Hi Janet- i totally agree with you!I have a son and i have to say it is not allways easy to keep on top of things. You can be the best parent ever and still don’t know what your Kids are up to. One can only feel sorry for the parents!!!
And with the Guns i agree too. I live in Australia and we have strict gun laws. We keep ours in a gunsafe and only us parents have a key-We have to have a licence and are not allowed to carry consealed weapons.

He’s been to court twice. The first time was when they determined he would be tried as an adult, and the second was when his lawyer asked for a continuance. He’s supposed to go back in couple of weeks, but there isn’t anything saying when.

Hey Chrissy:

I don’t have a gun cabinet…nothing. My best friend’s husband hunts though and i will not take my children there as he is very irresponsible with his weapons. The cops have actually taken them away and stupidly given them back. He leaves them under the couch etc. stupid, stupid man.

Having said that, another friend of mine has a cross bow that she keeps well guarded. They have taught me how to shoot it and I do enjoy going with them and target shooting.

My boyfriend drives long haul. He is going to Edmonton for six months in Oct. Wants me to get a license and a gun. I just can’t do it. Been on my own with the kids a long, long time and I just cannot bring myself to own a weapon.

As for the trial, I thought it was supposed to start this week. A continuance…could be whenever then.

I heard he is well protected and on meds. Could be wrong….just read it. Must be nice to be safe after something like that when my boyfriend wants me to get a gun when he’s away. Doesn’t make alot of sense.

well just so everyone now he is now out baby is fine healed real nice mom got both children tooken away because she did and may still have been doing drugs the day that the child was found james was asked to baby sit by the lady up stair which he had done several times before just with the help of his half brother who is 13 the only resone why he was baby sitting was because he was ground for a very long time for doing drug and lying to his parents he has had no real steady family history and has had a real dad that has commited suiside the only person he has lived with his whole life was his older brother which was full blood but they both treated there younger brother like full blooded as for the guns they were meant to teach responsibilaty and wether any one cares it did teach he would never have killed any one enless in defance and as for the mother of the baby she had asked him to baby sit so he could make some cash while he was grounded and she did not go to a family picnic other wise the kids would have went who ever thought that she went to a family picnic was stupid and miss informed but instead she was at a friends barbaque for a party of drinking and haveing fun probally trying to find a new boy toy she was gone for ten hours and the cops investigated this and other things which is why she lost her children which she had lost some others already not sure how many but the fact that she left her children with a child that had done drug was her own choise now i believe that james should get jail time but i believe he should get major mental help and get his medicine figured out as for the parents there plans are when he gets out to keep him away from society as much needed but still make him productive for the working society but if you have any more ?or any one of them i havent answered the just ask and i will try to answer them

not one of you knew him.. except his cousin. i dated him for 5 months and he never layed a hand on me or forced me to do anything. he is teh last person i would ever ever expect him to do this. i was friends with his friends and he treated everyone with respect. yes he had a really tough life and YOU DIDNT KNOW HIM!! i did..i was so close to him and i just want to knock some sense into him too. he deserves what he gets but dont talk shit about someone you know nothing about!
