Mass. school stabbing

Student charged with murder in fatal stabbing at suburban school:

In case you haven’t heard by now, there has been a fatal stabbing at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School in Sudbury, Massachusetts.

James Alenson, a 15-year-old freshman, was stabbed by a 16-year-old student and was pronounced dead at 8:12 a.m Eastern Time at Emerson Hospital in Concord.

The incident appeared to stem from a fight between the two. The suspect is in custody and is not being named at this time and has been charged with murder. I’ll bring you more details as they become available.

Man your behind, his name has been released as well as the fact that he has asperger’s, that he was confessed before he could be read his rights, that he kept saying that he didn’t want the boy to die, that his parents asked to be allowed to pay to have him in a mental hospital which was denyed, and that he will automatically be tried as an adult assuming it amounts to first or second degree murder (but from what I have heard so far it sounds accidental so he might be allowed to plea down to manslaughter… certainly no one (or at least 12 people don’t) wants to sentence a 16 year sped student to 30 to life.)

If you don’t like the way I do things around here you’re more than free to go somewhere else. Unlike you, apparently, I do have a life.

And the more you claim Asperger’s as a defense for murder the more people are going to think that people with AS are all potential killers.

Stop proving yourself to be an idiot. I never said Asperger’s was an excuse of murder (which this may or may not be, sounds like manslaughter so far as it does appear to be accidental) but it has been confirmed that he has it and I do think any jury will be hesitant to convict a boy with a severe developmental disability to life in prision.

Also it took me about 5 minutes to find all that information, if 5 minutes is too much for your time maybe you should stop wasting it advocating government condoned rape of minors. Just a thought.

Personally I would be a tad worried here, I have already noticed that several aspies are considering this kid a hero already and are naturally assuming he was bulled and was being bullied at the time. This could lead to copycats which would certianly not be good for me or for you (though I do suppose it would bring more attention to this site so it might be good for you.)

Maybe if you waited more than five minutes you would have known that the victim was stabbed in the heart and the abdomen and had several cuts around his neck. Does that sound like manslaughter to you?

And if you don’t think a jury won’t send him to prison history disagrees. Do some research on Asperger’s as a murder defense.

Has it ever been used in a case where the defendant was confirmed before it and was still in sped?

And I hadn’t seen that in about the 10 news reports that I had seen so chances are the next 10 wouldn’t have found it either and you got lucky. It sounds like EED or insanity (not asperger’s but another disorder) to me, you say the suspect is obsessed with murder which leads me to ask the question why cut him again after the knife pierced the heart, doesn’t sound like he was acting in a sane rational mind to me.

No one who commits murder is acting sane or rational. That’s why they belong behind bars.

Yes but if it is a case of snapping (hence EDD) that is manslaughter not murder one. A cold-hearted sociopath like you claim he is would have just stabbed him in the throught once or in the heart once and been done with it. Someone who snaps or is legally insane stabs more times out of rage (that a cold hearted sociopath would not have).

I am a mother of an Autistic child – and it is the schools fault!! I have been fighting to have my son placed in a Private Autism school (for 5 years)- that can only be paid for by the school system. And He has been denied every time! The school doesn’t want to take responsibility – and then something like this happens? Augh, yeah it sounds like manslaughter – I’m sure the boy was being picked on! I’m sure of it – have you ever met someone with Autism? No it cannot be a “new defense” You are dignosed with Autism as young as 2 years old!!! I am using this story to fight my school district -!!! garanteed they won’t listen. By the way I couldn’t pay for the private school if I wanted to the referral CAN only come from the school District! Not even his social worker or Doctor can make the referral – How would you like to be in this situation?

Erika, its nice to see another autistic advocate on here. You should check out the Thomas White case too, he shows sooooooooo many signs of autism (both his mother and sister agree with me on that) but thus far has slipped threw the cracks. Watch out you will be called a mutant for sticking up for the boy though, not to mention for blaming the school.

The problem I see once again is that he didn’t go after the best target. The boy he killed once again wasn’t the bully (or at least he seems like he wasn’t) and he probably wasn’t known to have violent outbursts or he wouldn’t have had the knife (regarding the knife I am wondering did he take it to school every day with him or just that day… that will make a big difference). Though maybe he had him when he was younger (God knows I did!) and was seemingly over them now.

Though regarding that I would once again suggest that Trench read The Curious Incident of the Dog In the Night-time to show how an aspie can cause great bodily injury to someone without ever meaning too (while it is a bit exagerated in the book it is pretty much correct.)

I just hope the true motive is found out (most aspies by the time they get to that age or at most ages really suck at lying so I bet it will.) And if it turns out that this was an accident and manslaughter they will try him as a juve, we have already had one meaningless victim do we really need another one?

PS. Go over to wrongplanet.net if you want some help with your school or your school or with your son in generally, its more made for aspies but it sounds like your son is quite high functioning so you should do nicely there :).

Multiple stab wounds does not constitute manslaughter. No one gets accidentally stabbed more than once. Aleson was stabbed in the heart and the abdomen. The two laces which almost guarantee death. It may not have been premeditated but his intent obviously was to kill.

And Erika would you let your child have a knife collection?

I am not quite sure I understand your last point, so his parents are asses. Don’t punish the son for the sins of the father.

No I would not let my son have a knife collection. He collects trains. But he knows how to use a knife to butter his bread. I am sure there is more to this story. My husband is also a Cop, and on the front page of our paper today it had a story how and Autistic child was harrassed by the Police. How do you think I feel about that? Wrongful arrest, racial slurs, all because the kid gave his nick name instead of his real name???? If autistic kids CAN talk they are really introuble because no one see’s their disability. And it’s very different than an insanity plea. It’s a disability! They don’t know what they are repeating, or doing. :-O

    oh my god
first of all, you cannot blame the school for this! I am a freshman at Lincoln-Sudbury, and I would like to enlighten all of you. John (Jack) Odgren was not bullied. He did not know James. He came from another school, in another town, to be able to go to L-S, and so he wasn’t even from Lincoln or Sudbury. It was not an accident, and, even though I’m a little biased, I would like for Jack to be sentence to a long, lifetime, in prison for what he did. It has changed my school forever, and he deserves whatever punishment he gets, and maybe even more. Also, I have a 16-year-old cousin who is autistic, so I know what that is like. She goes to a special school and cannot express herself very well to anyone, but her autism would not lead her to kill someone.
And, by the way, I cannot believe you create a website, AND named it “the trenchcoat chronicles”

Um, hello. I’m on your side. And again, I’ve been using this name for 10 years now.
