DA not worried about sealed records

D-A says she won’t appeal judge’s ruling regarding school records:

Like I theorized last week, Sauk County District Attorney Pat Barrett said that her case against Eric Hainstock will not be affected by the recent ruling that Hainstock’s school records will be sealed…

Barrett says she sought the boy’s school records as a matter of routine in an investigation of a crime at a school that involved school personnel. But she says she doesn’t anticipate needing the records to prosecute the case, given the number of witnesses and some admissions by the defendant.

For those of you just joining us, Eric Hainstock shot and killed Weston High School principal John Klang in front of witnesses.

Hopefully prosecuting Hainstock will be a slam dunk.

    Hopefully you’re will be right.

It’s tough getting common sense into our criminal justice system.

What happened to the days when all politicos spoke about school crime and the mess our government schools are in.

About the only state leader I hear is State Senator Fred Smith, who says the things that need to be said and put into action. It’s not rocket science. It’s common sense.

You might think that it will be a slam dunk, but i’ll tell you something that if you can’t see that he was troubled by the way his life was then your a hypacrite, and thanks to no help from the other students, family, teachers (school staff)this could have been prevented from getting this far. But if all you guys out there would have listened to him he would not be where he is today. We his family think that no one is the hero in this life time and we will not be there to sit back and say nothing. It was wrong for him to do so, but you guys did not give him the time of day. If it were to be your kids of someone of special needs you would have listened and thought differently. Eric did not choose to be born into this world, his parents did,and those of the staff and teachers that are parents should know when a child is troubled. What would you have done if your child was getting harrased and bullied. Also to Nathon Tabor no it does not take a rocket scientist to figure things out, but it seeems to me that none of you people have common sense. As for the kids and all the other people who picked on him and made his life a living HELL, just remember what goes around comes around and I hope that you people can one day feel the way he did when there is no one there to listen to you when you so desperatly need them to. From the other side of the family, from a small town just like you are

From a WSJ article quoting anonymous friend of the Hainstock family: “Another friend of the family who insisted on anonymity said Hainstock suffered most from being the victim of a broken home, “a situation that made it very difficult for him to feel loved.”

“You know the saying ‘It takes a village to raise a child.’ It’s so false,” the friend said. “It doesn’t take a village it takes two loving parents, and Eric doesn’t have that.”

Having guns in the house couldn’t have helped the situation either.

Can anger management problems be inherited? Just wondering.

I would agree with you that as you say”if you can’t see that he was troubled” etc. and I would ask you:
    1. Why were there guns in the home of this “troubled” to quote you- teenager?

    2. Why were there bullets, that are the killing part of this deadly duo with guns, stored in the house of this, as you say “troubled” -teenager?

    3. If you had so many conflicts with the school, why couldn’t you choose to homeschool like so many families choose to do these days?

There are always choices. Responsible choices!

It is ironic that so many people are writing in to tell how awful and socially unfit Eric Hainstock is and that he should be put away without so much as a nod. What he did was wrong but a coin has two sides and you have failed to acknowledge the other side of the story. His home life was a joke, the constant teasing and harrassing was unrelenting and now, when he finally and in desperation tried to get someone to listen and the unthinkable happened, you are already putting him to death in word and deed. Even Mrs. Klang asked the community to pray for him after this happened so why is it that there isn’t at least one kind word about Eric in the papers? He wasn’t born in hell, he did walk among you people at one time, he is one of God’s people and created by God and is deserving of forgiveness from us all. As I see it, when a school does nothing to assist a student who is having problems and who has asked for help repeatedly, then that school is at least partially responsible for what happened that horrible day in September. The DA herself has made several blunders in her remarks about the siutation plus there are many students who back the fact of Eric being picked on as well. He will definitely serve time for what he did but it should not be for life when he hardly had one in the first place. All of the students and faculty who have gone out of their way in prosecuting him have had their 15 minutes of fame and according to most papers who wrote the story, their words do not hold much truth. Spend your time praying for him and for the Klangs and forget all your personal feelings either way. I know for a fact that Eric is sorry for what happened and as I was once told, if Adolf Hitler would repent and accept God, he too would find his way into Heaven. You who “kill” someone that you scorned already in life are the ones who had better be worried about winding up in Hell. As for me, I will continue to uplift and encourage Eric in the word of God and in prayer. He is human and deserving of at least a few kind words while still in the world and there are a great number of people who agree with me in this. Throw prayer his way, not stones of hatred. This could have been you too in case you don’t know it. :'(
