Books are not bulletproof

Candidate: Use Textbooks As Shields From School Shooters:

Ok, I’m officially convinced that the Republican Party has gone batshit crazy. Not that the Democrats are any better. This was sent to me by Joker

MINCO, Okla. — One of Oklahoma’s nominees for state superintendent of education has proposed a unique idea for protecting students from outbreaks of violence.

Bill Crozier, a Union City Republican going against incumbent Democrat Sandy Garrett, said he believes old textbooks could be used to stop bullets shot from weapons wielded by school intruders.

Yes, you read that right…

If elected, he said he would put thick used textbooks under every desk for students to use in self-defense.

He had a videotape showing him and others shooting weapons, such as an AK-47 and a 9 mm pistol, at books in a field. They conducted the experiment to see how far bullets would penetrate the books.

Crozier’s experiment began with shots fired at a calculus textbook from an AK-47 Russian-style assault rifle. The shot penetrated two textbooks at once.

“We need to look at protection of young people that sometimes people may think you are a little smarter than everybody else or a higher IQ or whatever. They need to look at what the end result would be,” Crozier said.

However, when the shooters took aim at textbooks with handguns, the books stopped bullets. Crozier said he acknowledges his idea might seem a bit unusual, but he’s sticking with it.

“This would be to protect the children in an immediate situation. This is something that any student, any classroom in the country could do immediately,” he said.

Crozier acknowledged his test was not scientific. Instead, he said, he wanted to demonstrate what might happen if a student used a textbook as protection in the event of a school shooting.

“Not everybody would be saved in that situation, of course. But many of them would, and instead of running away or being lined up … this is a way for the children to fight back,” he said.

Here’s a thought Bill. How about trying to stop the school shootings before they happen? Did you ever think of that? Dumbass.

this is the dumbest story I ever read.I think they are trying for a double meaning moral, like: protect yourself &amp books are your best friend… but throwing books at an attacker with a gun will NOT make the impact this guy is hopeing for.matter of a fact, there is only one scenario in which the kids SHOULD attack the gunman. In the rare case of the gunman pointing the gun directly into the victims face and hesitating to ask questions (eg, do you believe in god) he leaves himself open to being disarmed.other than that… run, duck and cover are the only options people have when a psycho comes in shooting up the place.you would think, if they can keep weapons out of a 50,000 seat arena or out of airports… they SHOULD be able to keep them out of the schools too.chaulk it up too:woulda – shoulda – couldaI guess.

Crozier’s brilliant experiment inspires me to point out that big fat calculus books are a great way to build yourself fort. I mean, if you have a bunch of them lying about within convenient reach.

They makegreat fire fuel too, in case a person might get stranded on an island in a flood or after a tsunami and need to keep warm. From what I understand, youcan even use the pages for toilet paper, and it’snot so bad if you crumple them up well to make them nice and soft first……….What a riot, lol. Look kids, just put your books in front of the killer and say: You can’t shoot me, sir. My handy dandy Calculus Book, other than providing me with a high quality mathematics education which I will never use in life, also doubles as a bullet proof shield!!! MuahahahahahaAnd this man is running for office? The thought pains me.

Jesus Christ. We can do better than this.It speaks volumes when the best solution your elected representatives can offer to the problem is to force these poor scared kids to hold up an old algebra book to stop that bullet.

Our teachers always told us that Algebra would save our lives. This plan is pretty boneheaded, but he raises a good point. Kids shouldn’t just sit around and wait to be rescued/killed in these situations. They should at least try to do something.

Don’t get me wrong but the Dems are just as batshit crazy. Maybe one day we’ll get a real centrist party that deals in…you know…reality.I would have laughed at that video if it wasn’t so pathetic. He says that the books won’t stop rifles but will stop handguns. He left out the fact that almost all school shooters were armed with rifles. What a dumbass. 👿
