A 14-year-old boy charged with gunning down a classmate in a courtyard at Roseburg High School has a fascination with guns and recently researched how certain ammunition could penetrate body armor, a prosecutor told a judge during a hearing Monday.

This is funny…

At Monday’s brief court appearance, Bruce Tower, Leodoro’s court-appointed attorney, asked Millikan to consider a conditional release for the accused shooter. He argued that because his client doesn’t have a criminal background, he doesn’t pose a danger to the community.

You’re kidding, right? Why do these lawyers try to get their clients released before trial, stating they have no criminal background, when they’re being held for shooting someone?

Vincent Leodoro shot Joseph Monti multiple times with a Wyoming Arms 10 mm semiautomatic loaded with hollow point bullets. So we can just expect him to act like a good little boy while he’s awaiting trial? Hell no. Luckily, he was held without bail.

Also, it sounds like the prognosis for Joseph Monti was not as rosy as we were led to believe…

Monti, meanwhile, is recovering from his wounds at Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg, where he is listed in serious but stable condition. Doctors said he should recover fully from gunshot wounds to his chest, abdomen, and elbow.

But Monti’s half-brother, Eric Allison of Sacramento, wonders. He said Monti is in pain and will have to undergo reconstructive surgeries. Allison said he plans to fly his brother to medical facilities at Stanford University.

“I don’t know why everyone is saying that he’s going to be OK,” Allison said. “He’s got huge holes in him. We’re worried that he has signs of infection and this is going to be a long road to recovery.”

My thoughts and prayers are with the Monti family, and I hope Joseph recovers soon.

I don’t understand why all schools and communities don’t take threats seriously. How many shootings like this one have to occur?

My own son has been beatened…then threatened further on MySpace and the sargeant that came to our house after a deputy refused to even look at the site took one look and said “boys will be boys”.

Hmmmm…so shooting and killing and beating people up is normal behaviour for teenage boys now?

This is ridiculous. You’re all acting like there were no signs– just because the media SAID they didn’t really KNOW anything, didn’t mean they didn’t. According to numerous parents I know personally, Monti was, as they put it, “a REAL piece of s**t” and was constantly harrasing people. I know it’s unacceptable to allow kids to shoot one another over arguements but this district screwed up BADLY and allowed this to happen and they’re staying silent so that they don’t incriminate themselves.

I agree Christi. Everybody I know all said Monti was a big jerk. He even spit on the bus driver at school and gotten sitations on the bus. Monti’s brothers are dumb. Oh, your a coward because you didn’t warn him that your going to shoot him. What the hell? If your out to get someone, your not going to warn them. Idiot. I hope Monti learns a lesson from this.

Ok first off 4 those of u who think Joseph deserved this he didn’t!Damn U all!! I’m a friend of Joseph’s from Cali and I’ve known him for 3 years and when i heard about wut had happened 2 him I was a wreck yeah Joseph has some rough edges but who doesn’t! if anything I think that the kid who shot Joseph will get what he deserves! Oh and Christi his brothers weren’t putting on an act u R just being a B****,sounds 2 me that UR going by rumors wut they R like so since U don’t know them keep Ur damn mouth shut!! not 2 mention Ur saying s*** bout joseph when U don’t even know him, and in case Ur weren’t paying attention earlier I know Joseph personally so don’t go posting stuff on the internet about joseph when u don’t even know him!
