If the cases go to trial they could be facing life in prison.

  • Mercades Nichols arrested again

Girl In Taped Beating Case Arrested Again:

Mercades Nichols, she of the Victoria Lindsay beating, has been arrested once again for charges not related to the beating.

Sometime between Oct. 31 and March 28, Nichols stalked and threatened the victim online and in person, even when Nichols was aware that an injunction had been placed against her, Wood said.

“She harassed, cyber-stalked and placed the victim in fear,” Wood said, reading from the arrest warrant.

The victim is said to be Nichols’ ex-boyfriend.

    She’s being held without bond.

  • Mercades Nichols’ mom files lawsuit

Legal Action Considered Against Polk Sheriff:

This one is from the “Boy does that woman have brass ones” department.

Christina Garcia is the mother of Mercades Nichols. Mercades is one of if not the main suspect in the videotaped beating of Victoria Lindsay.

You would think that Ms. Garcia has more important matters to attend to like making sure her daughter stays out of jail but no. Ms. Garcia has taken it upon herself to file a lawsuit against Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd for making ‘defamatory’ remarks and causing ‘severe emotional damages’.

In her intent to sue notice, Bernard wrote that Judd failed to handle the arrest of the teens “with integrity and a degree of care” that would have protected them “against unfair treatment and exposure.”

Judd has described the March 30 beating in published news stories as “animalistic” and said that after the teens were arrested, they were laughing together in a holding cell, saying “Am I going to miss cheerleading practice?” and “I guess we’re not going to the beach this week.”

I didn’t know you could be sued for the truth. Garcia’s face is causing me severe emotional damages. Can I sue for that?

  • Hardcastle has restrictions eased

Polk Video Beating Case Defendant Has Release Rules Eased:

Brittni Hardcastle, she of the infamous Victoria Lindsay beating, has had her request to ease her house arrest granted.

However, she still has to adhere to a curfew and have no contact with the other suspects or the victim.

  • Kayla Hassel: Mad and sad

‘I Was Mad And I Felt Bad,’ Videotaped Beating Suspect Says:

One of the suspects in the Victoria Lindsay has had her statements to an assistant state attorney released to the press. 15-year-old Kayla Hassel seems to be claiming that she’s a victim.

She talks about how she was mad and felt bad after she saw the video after her release and how she’s had unwanted attention because of it. She also claims that it was never anyone’s intention to post the video to MySpace or YouTube. Right, what else do kids do with videos like this?

Hassel also turns on Brittani Hardcastle by saying it was Hardcastle that was encouraging others to beat Victoria. She also said that she was afraid of getting between the two because of how little she is.

I guess she thinks it’s all about her. Just like the rest of them.

  • Cara Murphy felt scared

“I felt scared for her,” says teen in beating case.:

Cara Murphy recently had the charges dropped against her in the videotaped beating of Victoria Lindsay. Now she’s speaking out…

“I guess I’m sorry for all that happened,” Cara Murphy said during a news conference Friday night, apologizing for her involvement in the videotaped beating of a Mulberry cheerleader that incited a media frenzy.

“I’m glad the charges got dropped though.”

I believe the second part but not the first.

Murphy says she never realized that what took place on videotape would turn into a national controversy. After apologizing to the victim, Victoria Lindsay, Murphy admitted she could have done more to stop the beating.

Murphy commented, “During the time I definitely can say I felt scared for her. Once I saw the video, I realized this was a bad thing that happened.”

Yet she didn’t realize it as it was going on? What difference should it being on video make?

I think the only thing she’s really sorry for is that she got caught. she won the lottery by having the charges dropped.

  • Charges dropped against 3 accused in Victoria Lindsay beating

Charges Dropped Against Three in Teen Beating:

Charges have been dropped against Cara Murphy, Stephen Schumaker, and Zachary Ashley. Schumaker and Ashley were originally thought to be lookouts.

A notice for each teenager gave the same explanation: “Further investigation has shown that there is insufficient evidence to proceed with charges against the defendant.”

The article’s author speculates if they’ll testify as witnesses.

And remember kids, just because there is insufficient evidence it doesn’t make then angels.

  • Mercades’ request to go public denied

Judge: Teen beating suspect can’t talk about case:

Yesterday I posted about how alleged beating ringleader Mercades Nichols requested from a judge to be able to travel to tell the world her story and apologize. That request has been…DENIED!!!

Her house arrest has been partially lifted allowing her to go to school, work, church, etc.

    Mercades’ mom chimes in…

After the hearing, Nichols mother said that her daughter wanted to be able to issue an apology, and that’s why she made the request to change her restrictions. She also expressed that she disagrees with the judge’s decision.

“She wanted to get her side out there, and I just think that it’s unfair that everyone else is having to talk about my daughter,” said Christina Garcia, Nichols’ mother.

Oh, I think that we’ve already seen your daughter’s side. And if you didn’t want people to talk about her then she shouldn’t have beaten Victoria Lindsay and had one of her dumbass friends record it. See how that works?

  • Victoria Lindsay video transcript

If you can’t get enough of the Victoria Lindsay story reader Allen Singer has transcribed the entire second video.

It’s even more appalling to actually read the words.

    Thanks, Allen.

  • Mercades Nichols wants to go public

Beating Suspect Wants to Go Public:

The alleged ringleader in the recorded beating of Victoria Lindsay wants permission from the court to go public with her story.

Mercades Nichols, one of eight teens charged as adults in the March beating of 16-year-old Victoria Lindsay, wants permission to talk publicly about the case and travel out of state to give interviews, according to a written request filed in Circuit Court.

Nothing good can come from this.

Allegedly Nichols wants to give “public apologies” to the media.

I wonder how much she’d be paid for those “apologies”.
