  • Naperville predator kills himself

Convicted rapist hangs himself in cell after arrest, prison officials say:

About a week ago I posted about Bryan Halstead He was arrested in Naperville, Illinois for trying to meet an underage girl he met on MySpace. Halstead was already a convicted sex offender for the 1986 rape of a 13-year-old girl and shooting her father.

It seems that Mr. Halstead decided to save the courts a lot of time and resources. Halstead hanged himself in his cell shortly after his arrest.

Thanks to Mike for the tip.

  • Teen testifies against Lori Drew

Woman Testifies Against Lori Drew in MySpace Hoax Case:

19-year-old Ashley Grills is the girl who actually created the fake MySpace profile of ‘Josh Evans’ that led to the suicide of Megan Meier. She’s been granted immunity by the California grand jury in exchange for her testimony against Lori Drew, the 47-year-old woman believed to be behind the whole nefarious plot against Megan Meier.

Grills admitted for the first time publicly that she created the profile of Josh Evans, and she told Roberts that she wrote the cruel words, “the world would be a better place without you,” that may have pushed Meier over the edge.

Grills said that she was trying to end the “relationship” because she felt that the joke had gone too far.

“I was trying to get her angry so she would leave him alone and I could get rid of the whole MySpace,” Grills said.

Or you could have apologized to Megan and told her the truth.

Anyway, it sounds like Lori Drew wanted to take it even further…

“She was wanting to meet him and me and … me and Lori’s daughter were both telling Lori that we thought it was going too far ’cause none of us can meet her, none of us are guys,” Grills said.

“And she [Lori Drew] was like, it’s fine, you know, we can set her up. We can have her go meet him at the mall and go there and just laugh at her, and I thought that was wrong,” Grills continued.

Lori is 47. Megan Meier was 13. I think it goes without saying that this is not the behavior of an adult.

With any luck, the grand jury will hopefully start the process to bring justice for Megan Meier.

  • FDA probes allergy drug’s suicide link

    Link

Now I’m sure some asthma sufferers are going to get all huffy and puffy over this. Pun intended by the way. But I’ve been on Singulair for years. As a matter of fact, I even quit smoking while on Singulair and I have not had any suicidal thoughts.

I realize that this is anecdotal evidence from only one person but I’ll start listening to what the FDA says about drugs when they take actually dangerous drugs like Accutane and Ambien off the market.

  • No charges for ‘Megan Had It Coming’

No charges against impersonators in Internet suicide case:

Authorities in St. Charles County, Missouri will not be filing any charges against those behind the ‘Megan Had It Coming’ blog.

For those of you just joining us let me recap. In the wake of the controversy surrounding the much-publicized suicide of Megan Meier, someone posted a fake blog pretending to be Lori Drew saying that Megan got what she deserved. I deemed it a fake as soon as I laid eyes on it.

Now let’s get to the aforementioned authorities…

St. Charles County Prosecutor Jack Banas said Tuesday that the sheriff’s department investigated those who posed as Lori Drew on the Internet. Because the bloggers were from outside of Missouri and had not sent messages to either family involved in the case, and the difficulty of legally proving the identity and actions of people behind their Internet addresses, charges are not being pursued in the impersonation case, Banas said.

Banas said he did not have the names of those allegedly involved in the online impersonation of Drew. The St. Charles County Sheriff’s Department referred questions to Banas’ office.

Heaven forfend if the pranksters’ names ever get out. Then karma will be raking in all the ‘lulz’.

Prosecutor Scumbag Peepants tries to off himself

Prosecutor in sex sting arrest attempts suicide:

It seems that our favorite diaper wearing scumbag prosecutor John David “Roy” Atchison tried to off himself today. Let me get out the violin…

John David “Roy” Atchison, the Florida federal prosecutor indicted for allegedly flying from Pensacola, Fla., to Detroit to have sex with a 5-year-old girl, tried to hang himself early this morning at the Sanilac County Jail, officials confirmed.

The 4 a.m. suicide attempt came only one day after Atchison asked a federal judge to take him off a suicide watch and assured her he would not try to harm himself.

Atchison tied a sheet around his neck, but the suicide attempt was discovered by sheriff’s deputies before he had a chance to harm himself, Sheriff Virgil Strickler said today.

“One of the other inmates hollered that he was doing it,” and jail deputies responded quickly, Strickler said.

The inmate in the adjacent cell raised the alarm.

When I first caught this story on Topix, I left a comment that said I wish he had finished the job, but I now take that back. I want there to be a long and lengthy trial followed by the longest prison stay possible. I want him to live his hell every day for the rest of his life.

As an added bonus, someone did a Yahoo search for Atchison’s MySpace handle “fldaddy04”. Besides my site, it also brought up a message board called….ugh, I’m so disgusted…The PeeSearch Community. I was unable to access the user profile, and I was not about to go through the requirements to view it. But there at least was a user on that board with the username fldaddy04. Draw your own conclusions.
