    Werribee teens plead guilty

Werribee DVD youths plead guilty, avoid jail:

Seven of the teens from Werribee, Australia who filmed themselves sexually assaulting a mildly developmentally challenged girl have pleaded guilty. If you remember, the suspects also sold the DVD, entitled C*nt: The Movie, to their classmates over MySpace. Let me refresh your memory…

The DVD was shot in June last year when the 17-year-old girl, who has mild developmental delay, was taken by the youths to the edge of the Werribee River.

It includes footage of the sexual act, of men urinating on the girl and throwing a cup of urine on her. It also shows them setting her hair alight three times.

They throw her top and jacket into the river and tell her: “You’re walking home topless.”

You would think the judge would throw the book at them. Not so. Since they have pleaded guilty, they will avoid any jail time and will be sent to an “adolescent sexual rehabilitation program”.

    Let’s hear from the judge…

The judge said the youths’ guilty plea was a strong indication of their remorse.

“The idea is that the defendants now have some rehabilitation and education in how not to treat women,” the judge said.

Personally, I think the judge let them off way too easy. I think the only thing they’re remorseful about is that they got caught.

However, I want to hear from my Aussie readers to see what they feel about the sentence. Is it enough?

Thanks to Alan for the tip.

  • Indictments in Dunbar Village gang rape

Indictments in Dunbar Village gang rape

Teens ordered held without bond in Dunbar Village rape case:

Yesterday the three teenage scumbags, Avion Lawson, 14, Nathan Walker Jr., 16, and Jakaris Taylor, 15, were indicted by a grand jury yesterday in the atrocious gang rape at Dunbar Village in West Palm Beach, Florida. The grand jury indicted them as adults. So, according to the article, the judge could not impose a youthful offender sentence. I doubt the judge would anyway unless he wanted to be run out of town.

Bond was also denied for the little monsters, since they are charged with felonies that carry life sentences.

This is how hardcore the prosecution is…

State Attorney Barry Krischer has called the crime the worst he has seen in 35 years, and instructed prosecutors “not to negotiate with the defense and proceed to trial and seek the highest possible sentence,” Krischer spokesman Michael Edmondson said.

    …as it should be.

Let’s not forget that there are still other suspects still on the loose. I hope the police catch them soon with extreme prejudice.

  • craigslist job interview gone wrong

    craigslist job interview gone wrong

Woman: Craigslist Ad Leads To Inappropriate Interview:

This is a new one to me, since people who place employment ads on craigslist have to actually pay for the ad. I guess you can’t even trust employment ads on the internet’s hive of scum and villainy.

PHILADELPHIA — A Conshohocken woman said she was just looking for work when an online ad on Craigslist caught her eye.

Aleshia Endy, 22, said she now hopes police catch the man who ran the ad.

“I thought it was a legit position. I really thought it was something, but now I’m grossed out,” Endy said.

Endy said the job ad on the nationwide Web site, Craigslist.com, appeared to be perfect for her.

“I responded to it, said apply for personal assistant/office manager, so I sent my picture and resume,” Endy said.

Endy said she later found out that when the author wrote “female preferred” and “obey instructions” in the ad, he meant it.

After responding to the ad, Endy called her potential employer, Eber Devine.

Endy said Devine told her he was moving from one office to another, so he wanted to set up the interview at the University of Pennsylvania campus at the Van Pelt Library.

“He met me outside. We went upstairs to where there’s, like, conference rooms,” Endy said.

Endy said, at first, everything seemed fine. She filled out an application and agreed to a background check, and he promised her a generous salary.

But right in the middle of the interview came the shocker.

“He told me, ‘I want you to stand up. Go walk around the room. Go stand in the corner. I want to look at your ass,’” Endy said.

Endy said she told him no, and when she started to walk away it became uncomfortable.

“He stood up. He came over and started touching my shoulders and my chest and got real close and started breathing on me heavily,” Endy said.

Endy said she pushed him away and left, but Devine had Endy’s cell phone number from the application and apparently was not finished talking.

“Yeah, Aleshia, I think you are an excellent candidate,” one message said.

“He called me about six times. I have it in my call log,” Endy said.

Endy contacted the NBC 10 Investigators and the police.

NBC 10’s Harry Hairston started looking into Devine’s background and found pages and pages of court records.

Court documents show Devine’s criminal history goes back as far as 1986.

NBC 10’s investigation turned up five different mug shots, some of which were taken between 2002 and December 2006.

The self-proclaimed CEO also has a laundry list of guilty pleas.

Records show he pleaded guilty to theft of leased property, unlawful use of a computer, forgery, and criminal conspiracy.

NBC 10 went to Devine’s Philadelphia home. The 38-year-old self-styled entrepreneur lives with his father.

Hairston asked Devine’s father if he knew anything about the ad on Craigslist.

    “That’s something he’s doing. He’s a grown man. I don’t know anything about it,” Devine’s father said.

Hours after the visit, Devine called NBC 10. He wouldn’t go on camera, but he did admit to placing the ad on Craigslist, claiming to be the CEO of his own company and interviewing Endy.

Devine denies anything inappropriate happened during the interview,

That may be for a court to decide. The district attorney’s Office has issued a warrant for his arrest.

He’s facing charges of sexual harassment, false imprisonment, indecent assault, unlawful restraint and burglary.

“I just want him off the streets. I want the women out there to know what kind of person he is. I want him off the streets,” Endy said.

Police said they are looking for Devine.

And a spokeperson for Craigslist said illegal activity is forbidden on Craigslist by the company’s terms of use, and is not welcome on the site.

I can almost see the craigslist spokesperson winking as they said that.

  • Third gang rape suspect arrested

    Third gang rape suspect arrested

3rd teen arrested in gang rape of mother, son in Florida:

The other day, I posted about the Florida woman who was gang-raped and forced to have sex with her son. Two teens have already been arrested for the brutal and disgusting attack. Those teens are Avion Lawson, 14, and Nathan Walker, 16. Now a third teen has been arrested.

Fingerprints in the woman’s house linked 15-year-old Jakaris Sansay Taylor to the June 18 attack, West Palm Beach police spokesman Ted White said.

The state attorney’s office will be seeking a grand jury indictment for all defendants in the case to ensure they are charged as adults, spokesman Mike Edmondson said.

Taylor was arrested on charges of home invasion robbery with a firearm, wearing a mask while committing an offense, sexual battery and armed sexual battery with multiple perpetrators. He will be transferred to a juvenile detention center once investigators finish questioning him, police said.

They shouldn’t even be tried as adults. They should be put down like dogs.

  • Werribee teens get additional charges

    More charges on sex DVD:

The teens from Werribee, Australia who are facing charges for distributing a DVD of them sexually assaulting a girl have had additional charges filed against them.

A children’s court heard yesterday the boys, two aged 16, six 17-year-olds and three aged 18 will face another charge each of procuring the victim to take part in sexual penetration by intimidation.

Four of the accused boys have been charged with two counts of procuring sexual penetration by intimidation and making child pornography, and seven face the same three charges plus one count of assault.

Up to 12 boys were investigated for allegedly coercing the Year 12 girl to have sex in the homemade DVD, titled C— the Movie, allegedly made between June 1 and June 30 last year.

The ten minute film was copied and distributed to students at Werribee schools.

The film showed the girl performing a sex act, being urinated on, and having her hair set alight.

Sources told the Herald Sun in November at least one of the teens allegedly featured on the DVD continued a relationship with the victim for several months after the film was made.

But will these charges bring a longer sentence if these thugs get any real sentence at all?

Thanks to Alan for the link.

  • Werribee suspects may receive light sentences

I got a tip from a reader Alan in Australia who says that two of the Werribee rape DVD suspects will be receiving light sentences. This is the e-mail he sent me verbatim.

Something finally appears to be stirring from the Victoria Police.

It appears only two of them will face charges of sexual assault.

This is from a myspace page that has gone from private to public.

  • Oakland craigslist assault

    Oakland craigslist assault

Police: Oakland Student Raped, Attacker Met Online:

You know, while all the soccer moms and do-gooders are ranting and raving about MySpace, craigslist keeps sneaking in under the radar…

(AP) OAKLAND An Alameda man is under arrest for allegedly raping a graduate student who answered a classified ad on a popular Web site.

Police say a 31-year-old student at Mills College in Oakland was raped Thursday night after answering an ad on Craigslist offering modelling jobs.

49-year-old Gregory Hayes was picked up by police Friday morning after the woman spotted him at a gas station near campus.

Police say the woman sent her alleged attacker e-mails and talked to him on the phone before he arrived at her on-campus residence claiming he had a gun and raped her in his van.

Hayes asked for a lawyer after his arrest and refused to talk to investigators. Police are investigating whether he met other women on Craigslist.

At least MySpace is making attempts to keep their userbase safe. Craigslist doesn’t do anything.

  • Another Werribee suspect?

Justin of The Whole Story, who first brought the Werribee story to my attention, has a great entry about the victim speaking out.

  • CTM still up for sale

Werribee DVD assault offered for sale for $60:

Some unscrupulous scumbag has decided to capitalize on the Werribee sex assault DVD…

COPIES of the Werribee sex crimes DVD are being offered for sale at prices up to $60.

The DVD – which shows teenagers engaging in sexual activity with a teenage girl before urinating on her and setting her hair on fire – was offered for sale at the weekend on the Melbourne Gumtree classifieds website.

The vendor claims his daughter bought a copy of the video, dubbed C— The Movie, and has made copies which he is offering for sale.

The DVD was first offered for sale on Saturday for $50, under the title Genuine C The Movie. The vendor asks would-be buyers to email their details if they want a copy.

“I will be discreet and deliver even to PO Box if you like in plain wrapping and unlabelled DVD so nobody will know and we don’t get arrest (sic),” he writes.

The DVD was re-advertised yesterday with the price jacked up to $60 in response to “increased demand”.

The advertisement describes the DVD as a “Video of local sites and activities by local Melborne (sic) artists”.

Let’s stop right there for a second. Artists? Since when is rape an art? Not to mention the fact that allegedly a parent of a student is selling this video.

When the Herald Sun emailed the vendor anonymously yesterday, he said that when the DVD was sent the would-be buyer would get only a 10-minute preview.

When payment arrived, he would give the buyer a password that gave them access to the entire movie.

By 3pm (AEDT) yesterday the ad had been removed from the Melbourne Gumtree site.

But the would-be salesman has also posted promotions on the personal websites belonging to some of the teenagers who feature in the DVD.

“Movie now $60 only a few left email me … all profits to a good cos (sic),” he wrote.

The DVD had been selling for just $5 at Werribee schools.

But police last week said they were prepared to charge anyone who bought or downloaded the DVD with possession of child pornography.

I hope the police find you and prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law with extreme prejudice.
