  • No justice for slain firemen

Man Convicted in Pa. Fire That Killed Two:

This is a follow-up to last year’s story of firefighters John Taylor, 53, and Rey Rubio, 42, who were killed trying to put out a fire that was started when pot growing lights inside a wooden closet set fire to the house. Well, the pot growing and dealing Daniel Brough was convicted of involuntary manslaughter. Here’s what kills me…

Brough, 37, faces three to 12 months in prison on each of two counts when he is sentenced Nov. 28. The jury rejected charges of third-degree murder, which would have carried six to 20 years each.

So two members of Philadelphia’s Fire Department are dead and the most this scumbag can get is 12 months? You can argue with me all you want that pot should be legal but the fact remains that it’s not legal. Therefore these two firemen basically died during a commission of a crime.

It’s a travesty and a grave injustice to the memories of John Taylor and Rey Rubio that Daniel Brough will be a free man once again in less than two years. Daniel Brough will get to go home to his family. John Taylor and Rey Rubio won’t.

  • Veteran’s Stadium R.I.P.

    Veteran’s Stadium R.I.P.

They blew up Veteran’s Stadium in Philly yesterday. Well, since it was an implosion, I guess they blew it in.

Anyway, I am sad to see it go. As a stadium, it sucked ass, but I have a lot of great memories there.

The first time I remember going there was a hot day in August when my Dad took me to see the Eagles play the L.A. Rams. The place was packed, and it actually shook from the crowd noise.

It was the place where I got to meet Tex Schramm. It was the place where either the pre-season before or the pre-season after I got to meet THE Pittsburgh Steelers before they won their last Super Bowl. I got the autographs of Terry Bradshaw, Mean Joe Greene, and most importantly, I got to meet one of my heroes in Rocky Bleier.

It wasn’t all football, either. My dad took me to see a lot of Phillies game there. I got to see such greats as Mike Schmidt, Larry Bowa, Steve Carlton, just to name a few. I also remember the lesser guys of the team like Manny Trillo, Greg Luzinski, and Bake McBride. I also got to witness Pete Rose both as a Phillie and a Red.

As a stadium, it was a hole, and I’m kind of glad it’s gone, but I’ll always remember it as one of the few places where I actually have fond memories of spending time with my father.

    Vaya con Dios.

  • Cop killer death sentence overturned

    Cop killer death sentence overturned

So I’m reading the local rag here in Charlotte and I catch an article from back home in Philly. And I have just one word to say. Un-fucking-believable.

Some half-assed judge in Philly decided to overturn convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal’s death sentence. For those of you who may not be familiar with the case, Abu-Jamal shot and killed Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner in 1981. Abu-Jamal claims he didn’t receive a fair trial and was a victim of a racist judicial system. But at no time has he ever denied shooting Daniel Faulkner. Many celebrities have come to the aid of Abu-Jamal like Ed Asner, Mike Farrel, and Rage Against The Machine.

In a recent documentary, I saw on PBS about Abu-Jamal the evidence was overwhelming against him. A bullet from his registered gun was found in Daniel Faulkner. But liberals and radicals claim that Abu-Jamal deserves a retrial? On what friggin’ grounds? However, since Daniel Faulkner was white and Abu-Jamal was black, it must be a racist system. Apparently, this judge overturned the death sentence for his own personal motives.

This scumbag has been glorified by some people as some sort of hero. Comparing him to the likes of Dr. Martin Luther King. Here’s the thing, Dr. King did not kill a cop.

And lost somewhere in all this is Maureen Faulkner, Daniel Faulkner’s widow. While celebrities are coming to the aid of a convicted cop killer, where are the celebrities coming to the aid of Maureen Faulkner.

And what really fries my ass is that Abu-Jamal has been made an honorary citizen of Paris. The same city that harbored convicted killer Ira Einhorn for years. Just one more reason to nuke France. The world has its priorities all fucked up when we’re supposed to idolize a convicted cop killer.

Abu-Jamal will be resentenced, and he could be sentenced to death again. But as liberal as Philly is, I highly doubt it. But if there is true justice, there’s a needle with his name on it in Pennsylvania.
