  • Gagnon racks up more charges

Former stepfather of Vermont girl indicted:

I’m sure by now those of you who are following the Brooke Bennett story already know that her ex-stepfather has been indicted in San Antonio. Ray Gagnon was indicted on child porn charges there yesterday.

Gagnon admitted to police that he had a friend/roommate/landlord dispose of his safe which contained a computer which contained a massive cache of child porn.

Gagnon was already facing obstruction charges for disposing of said laptop while police were still looking for Brooke Bennett.

For current up to the minute news on this subject, you can usually find it in this comment thread where the commenters are doing a great job of posting up to the minute updates.

  • Sex offender in mom’s basement

Local Teen Meets Sex Offender On MySpace:

34-year-old Dennis Boehm of Indiana met a 20-year-old girl over MySpace. Except that the girl was actually 15. When the girl told him she was 15 that didn’t discourage him any. He picked the girl up from her church in his van (windowless I’m sure) and took her to an American Legion parking lot where they had sex.

Dennis had a secret of his own though. He’s a registered sex offender who spent 11 years in prison for the attempted rape of two kids ages 9 and 11.

Boehm lives with his parents, no shock there, and they’re in complete denial. They claim the girl never told him her real age. But it’s not like he’s a registered sex offender or anything. Oh, wait, yes he is.

He’s now looking at 6-20 years behind bars.

UPDATE: What do you know. Mom’s basement dweller is a Juggalo. Thanks, Nancy.

  • Garden State Creeper

Plainsboro man charged with luring 13-year-old via MySpace:

28-year-old Derek McDonough of Plainsboro, New Jersey was arrested on charges of having sex with a 13-year-old girl he met on MySpace.

If the allegations are true then McDonnough is a loser and I’m sure someone who knows him will give us some excuse. And if they do they might have a surprise coming their way but I’ll save that for later. Anyway, I have an issue with the girl’s parents because of this quote…

…the girl’s parents became suspicious about their daughter’s internet activity…

If you haven’t figured it out by now you should be suspicious of all your teen’s internet activities. They’re either up to something or they’re not savvy enough to protect themselves from predators.

  • Drew trial rescheduled

    Drew’s trial rescheduled for October:

Lori Drew’s trial for conspiracy and fraud charges has been rescheduled for early October. Until then Drew must stay off the internet and can’t leave Missouri or Illinois except to travel to California for the federal trial.

  • Search is on for Gagnon’s computer

Texas Search in Brooke Bennett Murder:

Federal Agents in Texas are scouring a landfill looking for the computer of Ray Gagnon. As you know Ray Gagnon is the former stepfather of Brooke Bennett and a possible accomplice in her disappearance. before his arrest, he instructed his roommate to dispose of a computer that allegedly contained child porn.

I wonder if it also holds any evidence of Brooke’s disappearance or murder.

  • AZ man arrested for trying to have sex with teen

Man accused of sex with teen he met on MySpace:

23-year-old Justin Allen Lee of Avondale, AZ was arrested for driving to Chandler, AZ to have sex with a 15-year-old girl he met over MySpace. Lee was discovered by the girl’s father.

Lee is using the ‘I thought she was 17’ defense even though according to the article it states her MySpace stated her correct age. Age of consent in Arizona is 18.

You also have to read how hilarious Lee’s apprehension was.

In Avondale, where he lives with his parents, Lee was already on probation for armed robbery and was booked through the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. It sucks to be him. Maricopa County is where Sheriff Joe is. I reckon he probably don’t take too kindly to perverts like this one.

  • Vermont released Jacques early

State wanted suspect’s early probation release:

The state government of Vermont is really earning their reputation as being child molester friendly.

It was released yesterday that the Department of Corrections in Vermont recommended an early release for Michael Jacques. The same Michael Jacques who in 1993 kidnapped and sexually assaulted an underage girl. The same Michael Jacques who is Brooke Bennett’s uncle and the prime suspect in her disappearance.

Judge Amy Davenport approved the early release for Jacques in 2006, seven years early.

Now I know hindsight is 20/20 and all that but you would think that any state government in this country would want a violent sex offender like Jacques to serve out his entire sentence.

  • Oregon MySpace rape

Man accused of raping 13-year-old he met on MySpace:

28-year-old Scott Knight of Aurora, Oregon has been arrested on charges that he raped a 13-year-old girl he met through MySpace.

Not only is he trying the ‘she said she was 18 defense’ but his mommy is defending him in the press.

“That’s not Scott, Scott may do things, but this is not Scott. He met this girl on a Web site, it happened to be a Web site that only 18-year-olds can go on, He doesn’t understand and I don’t understand. He doesn’t do that,” said Knight’s mother, Janice Abraham.

Granted that a 13-year-old is not supposed to be on MySpace but it’s not a site for 18-year-olds. According to MySpace’s terms of service, you can be as young as 14 to sign up for MySpace.

Then Knight’s sister plays a little ‘blame the victim’ game…

“She set him up and it’s not right. She should be under house arrest or something, she should be stopped,” added Knight’s sister, Angelica White.

Ah Personal Responsibility, we hardly knew ye.

Knight is facing charges of rape, kidnapping, and child sex abuse. Another suspect may be involved as well.

Knight also has a felony theft warrant in another county.

  • Illinois teens sentenced for rape

Teens Sentenced In 2006 MySpace Rape:

It seems like I’ve been blogging about this case since forever and now it comes to a very anti-climactic and unjust end in my opinion.

Then 18-year-old Angel Alverio and then 17-year-old Tony Pacheco met a 14-year-old girl over MySpace, got her drunk until she passed out and raped her.

So how does the justice system punish these two? Well for all intents and purposes they didn’t They both received 24 months of probation and 10 years on the sex offender registry.

That’s a great message. Commit rape and you’ll only get probation. Pathetic.

Thanks to Chrys for the tip.

  • Brooke Bennett’s ex-stepfather receives new charges

Vt girl’s ex-stepdad charged in Ala. w/ child porn:

Ray Gagnon, Brooke Bennett’s former stepfather, has been charged with possession of child porn, but not in Texas where he lives. He was charged by the state of Alabama.

Alabama is saying that Gagnon stored child porn in a house where he used to live in Cullman, Alabama.

It seems that the mother’s side of Brooke Bennett’s family has a problem with pedophiles. Brooke’s mother married Gagnon, Brooke’s aunt married Michael Jacques.

I’m not saying it’s the women’s fault but what are the odds that two sisters would both marry pedophiles?
