  • MySpace predator busted by Homeland Security

MySpace tip leads to suspect’s arrest:

32-year-old Celestino Paguyo of Riverside, California was arrested on charges of contacting a minor with the intent to commit a sexual offense.

Paguyo convinced a 16-year-old girl he met over MySpace to meet with him. He picked her up from school where according to the article he persuaded her to perform a sex act on him. Paguyo posed as a 20-year-old.

It seems that someone tipped of MySpace to Paguyo’s activities who in turn may have told the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children who tipped off Homeland Security.

Now Homeland Security has seized Paguyo’s computer and are hoping to charge him with federal crimes.

  • Judge doesn’t dismiss Lori Drew charges

Judge tentatively refuses to dismiss Internet case:

Federal Judge George H. Wu rejected two motions today to dismiss the charges against Lori Drew. Drew, of course, is the hosebeast who basically caused the suicide of Megan Meier by posing as a boy on MySpace then humiliating Meier.

Judge Wu is still considering a third motion and plans to make a decision in a few days.

Barring dismissal a trial date has been set for October, 7th.

  • An Ohio case of 15 will get you 20

Man Allegedly Has Sex With Teen Through MySpace:

21-year-old Joseph Wade, of Cincinnati, apparently can’t find women his own age. He was arrested for having consensual sex with a 15-year-old girl that he met on MySpace. Age of consent in Ohio is 16. He was also charged with interference with custody because not only did he help her run away but kept changing her location so her family couldn’t find her.

Wade is obviously a desperate loser but I’m sure we’ll hear from someone who he’s some kind of hero who rescued the girl from her family. You know you can rescue someone without having sex with them.

  • Lori Drew’s attorney requests medical records

Attorney asks for medical records of dead girl:

The defense attorney for Lori Drew has requested the medical records of Megan Meier stating that it was a change in psychiatric medication that caused her to commit suicide.

Megan’s mom states that Megan was diagnosed with depression but was improving before Drew’s hoax. She also said that the defense can go jump in a lake before she gives up Megan’s medical records.

Take it from someone with experience in the medical field. Due to HIPAA laws, it may take an act of Congress or God before the records are made available to prosecutors.

  • Youngniceguy is neither

Quick-Thinking Dad Helps Nab Sex Predator Suspect:

I wouldn’t say quick thinking I would just say that he’s a knowledgeable parent.

Anyway, this father saw one of his 14-year-old daughter’s MySpace messages. It was a sexually suggestive message sent from someone calling himself ‘youngniceguy’. Dad decided to play the role of the daughter and at that point, ‘youngniceguy’ was trying to get sex from the 14-year-old.

Dad called the cops and it turns out that ‘youngniceguy’ is neither young nor nice. Police arrested 36-year-old Alan Dean Sims. Sims is being charged with criminal solicitation of a minor and attempted criminal sexual conduct. Both are felonies and he’s looking at 30 years.

Who will be the first to come to his defense on these pages? Friend, family, or significant other?

  • MySpace deletes Nebraska sex offenders

MySpace Deletes 146 Nebraska Sex Offender Profiles from Site:

Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning announced this past Friday that in the first half of 2008 MySpace has deleted the profiles of 112 sex offenders that are registered in Nebraska. In 2007 247 were deleted.

No word on what Nebraska is doing about the unregistered sex offenders or the registered ones that aren’t on MySpace.

  • Virginia man caught with 15-year-old Illinois girl

Man sought sex with girl, 15, police say:

21-year-old Kriz Jerome Cabadin of Centreville, Va. has been arrested for having sex with a 15-year-old girl from Edwardsville, Illinois.

Cabadin had met the 15-year-old over the net and had flown at least three times from Virginia to Illinois. His laptop also contained child porn. It’s unknown if the child porn was something separate or if it was pictures of the girl.

Cabadin has been charged with federal charges of travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.

According to Cabadin’s MySpace, he’s married and it also looks like he may be another Juggalo as well.

    His Netlog says he’s single.

Thanks to Tim for the tip.

  • More on Michael Jacques new legal team

Death Penalty Experts Join Jacques’ Defense Team:

The fancy pants lawyers that will be advising Michael Jacques are David Ruhnke and Jean DeSales Barrett of the New Jersey law firm of Ruhnke & Barrett.

After slogging through the spam that most lawyer pages are I did find out that they are specialists in federal death penalty cases. Jacques is facing federal charges of kidnapping on the death of his niece Brooke Bennett. Jacques is also a convicted sex offender.

Allegedly Ruhnke & Barrett have never had a client executed. If Jacques is guilty of Brooke’s death here’s hoping their streak comes to an end.

  • To catch a Shadow

    Police: Predator targeted teen websites:

29-year-old Warren Nanney of Boise, Idaho was arrested this past Friday in child porn charges.

Nanney was said to have been in possession of images of 14 and 15-year-old girls. Using the handles of “Shadow” and “Jadedwasted” Nanney cruised the usual places looking for young girls. Investigators say that he used Myspace, Facebook, and Myyearbook to find his victims. It’s alleged that he had sex with two girls who were under the age of 16 by posing as a 16-year-old.

“He had over 500 contacts, 500 people listed as friends and 90 percent of them were under the age of 18, females who were in the Treasure Valley,” said Bill Crawford, a detective with the Caldwell Police Department.

Hopefully, this serial scumbag will be put away for a long time.

  • Michael Jacques gets hot shot legal team

    Jacques Assigned More Lawyers:

The accused kidnapper and possible killer of Brooke Bennett has been assigned some more legal assistance. Michael Jacques will be receiving legal counsel from a husband and wife team of lawyers from New Jersey. It’s alleged that none of their clients have ever been put to death.

If they usually practice in New Jersey that’s no big feat. Jersey hasn’t executed anyone since before I was born and they did away with the death penalty this year.

So will the prosecution now get a legal team that has had everyone they’ve prosecuted executed? I hope so. If Jacques is guilty of the crimes he’s accused of he needs to be put down like a dog.

Vermont does not have the death penalty but Jacques is more than likely looking at federal charges.
