Michigan Man Busted During MySpace Rondevous:

(CBS4) KEENE, N.H. A Michigan man is under arrest after he traveled to New Hampshire to allegedly meet someone he thought was 14-year-old boy he met online. That 14-year-old boy turned out to be Keene Detective Jim McLaughlin.

Jeremy Dale Stewart, 28, had been talking with the detective for two months. According to McLaughlin, Stewart was using MySpace.com to find teens.

Officials say Stewart traveled about 25 hours on a bus to meet up with the teen in Keene. Prior to the arranged meeting, McLaughlin said Stewart would send photos and love notes.

When Stewart was met by police at the bus station in Keene, officials say he was taken into custody without incident. When police told him he was under arrest, Stewart apparently told them he was there on vacation.

I wasn’t able to find a definitive MySpace for Stewart, but I guess he won’t be needing that round-trip ticket.

I originally talked about Jason Benge here

A Fort Drum soldier charged with soliciting teens for sex using the popular website MySpace.com plead guilty to all charges this morning in Jefferson County court.

27-year-old Jason Scott Benge of Flower Avenue East plead guilty to charges of Criminal Solicitation in the 3rd degree and Attempted Rape in the 3rd degree. Benge used the website MySpace.com to arrange a meeting with what he thought was a 15-year-old teen and her 16-year-old friend for purposes of engaging in sexual activity with him and his girlfriend. The teen he believed he was propositioning was actually Detective Steven C. Cote of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.

Sentencing for Benge is scheduled for October 27th. He was released on his own recognizance.

His MySpace has since been deleted.

Firefighter Accused Of Sex With Teen He Met Online:

CLERMONT, Fla. — An Orange County firefighter was hauled off to jail Monday after he was accused of having sex with a 13-year-old girl he met on the Internet. Clermont police arrested 24-year-old Reginald Welch and a friend after they found them in a car with the teenager.

Sunday night, Hancock Park wasn’t very crowded. Police said they found one car with two men and a young girl in it. When they went to investigate, they found unwrapped condoms in the car.

Welch said he didn’t know the girl was 13 and didn’t have sex with the girl, but police said it happened twice with the young teen he met on the Internet, and believe it may have been through MySpace.com.

On Welch’s MySpace page, Eyewitness News also found a number of girls listed as Welch’s friends whose profiles say they are under age, some as young as 14. Still, Welch denies having sex with the girl.

Police said Welch picked the girl up from her home at 3:30 Monday morning. They said she snuck out when Welch knocked on her bedroom window.

“Nothing happened. They pulled up and we were just sitting there and they handcuffed me,” Welch told Eyewitness News.

    And the best part…

Welch was suspended with pay by the Orange County Fire Department.

I realize it’s Florida, but what do you have to do to get suspended without pay?

    Anyway, here is Welch’s MySpace.

    Shaun Roethlisberger

Man pleads guilty in Myspace sex case:

A registered predatory sex offender accused of having intercourse with a 14-year-old girl he met through a popular Internet site pleaded guilty Friday in St. Louis County District Court to two crimes.

Shaun Michael Roethlisberger, 22, pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal sexual conduct and with violating predatory offender registration provisions for not notifying authorities of his current address.

St. Louis County prosecutor Vern Swanum and Duluth defense attorney David Keegan said Friday that part of Roethlisberger’s sentence will be dependent on a psycho-sexual evaluation and whether he is amenable to sex offender treatment at a local facility.

Duluth Police Chief Roger Waller had called a news conference at City Hall in June to announce Roethlisberger’s arrest. Waller said it was an “important community event” to remind parents of the potential dangers young people face on the Internet.

According to the criminal complaint, Roethlisberger, formerly of Ely, has a prior fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct conviction and was required to register as a predatory sex offender under Minnesota law.

Police said that Roethlisberger met the girl on the Internet site Myspace.com. The girl told police that after she and Roethlisberger communicated online they talked on the telephone about having sexual relations.

They met near the Miller Hill Mall and went to his house and had sex. They met again in a park in West Duluth on May 20 and had sex.

The teenager said Roethlisberger knew she was only14 years old because she was identified that way onMyspace.com. She told police the defendant told her not to tell anyone about their sexual encounters because if she did, he would go to jail.

Another registered sex offender goes on to prey again. Why bother to see if he’ll take to treatment? It’s obvious that he won’t. Anyway, we do have Roethlisberger’s MySpace.

Man charged in sex assault met minor on MySpace.com:

A 21-year-old Mount Prospect man was arrested and charged last week for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl he met on the MySpace.com Web site.

Thomas B. Zuffante, 21, was charged Friday with felony aggravated criminal sexual abuse and manufacturing child pornography. Mount Prospect Police said Zuffante communicated with numerous girls younger than 17 years old through the MySpace.com Web site and that he had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old Elgin girl. Police said Zuffante possessed sexually explicit photographs of himself and the 15-year-old.

The charges against Zuffante came after a three-month investigation.

Officer Dirk Ollech said Zuffante had been previously arrested July 5, 2005, and was charged then with aggravated criminal sexual abuse for having inappropriate contact with a 15-year-old Wheeling girl.

We have Zuffante’s MySpace, but it’s been set to private.

Man Gets 4 Years For MySpace Tryst With Girl:

(CBS) MURIETTA, Calif. A 29-year-old man was sentenced to four years in state prison Wednesday after pleading guilty to having unlawful sex with a girl he met on Myspace.

Paul Michael Serna also pleaded guilty to one count of burglary in connection with the incident. He was arrested at about 4:30 p.m. May 16 in the parking lot of a WinCo Foods grocery store, Riverside County Sheriff’s Sgt. Earl Quinata said.

Serna was there, believing he was going to meet another minor, but instead met waiting sheriff’s investigators, who arrested him, Quinata said.

The mother of the victim called police when she found out that her daughter possibly had sex with Serna, police said.

I was unable to find a MySpace for Serna.

    14-year-old Chicago girl raped

Sex attack victim found on Web site:

Three Chicago teenagers have been charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl they met through MySpace.com, a Web site popular with teens and young adults.

Tony Pacheco, 17, and Angel Alverio, 18, were arrested Sunday along with a 15-year-old boy whose name is not being released because he is a juvenile. Pacheco, of the 6400 block of North Hamilton Avenue, and Alverio, of the 1500 block of West Wilson Avenue, were being held Monday on $400,000 bond. A Juvenile Court judge found probable cause to detain the 15-year-old, said Andy Conklin, a spokesman for the Cook County state’s attorney’s office.

Pacheco and Alverio, both students at Senn High School on the North Side, had been corresponding with the girl on MySpace.com, Assistant Cook County State’s Atty. John Henning said at the teens’ bond hearing Monday. Henning did not know how long the teens had been corresponding.

The pair allegedly set up a meeting with the girl, who is also from Chicago, at an undisclosed location on July 24 and drove her to the home of the 15-year-old in the 4800 block of West Walton Street, Henning said. There, they allegedly drank alcohol and played video games, he said.

“The victim passed out and when she woke up,” she was being sexually assaulted, Henning said. That pattern was repeated several times, and the last time she awoke she was in an alley, Henning said.

I couldn’t find one for Alverio. I might have found one for Pacheco, but I can’t say for sure that it’s his, so any help would be appreciated.

SLAIN TEEN’S CHILLING LAST WORDS TO PAL:

This is a rather unsettling article about Chanel Petro-Nixon’s last known words on MySpace before her body was found…

August 14, 2006 — A tragic Brooklyn teen whose body was found in a Dumpster six weeks ago left an eerily chilling note to a pal only days before her gruesome murder.

“I LOVE YOU,” studious 16-year-old Chanel Petro Nixon wrote to her friend on her page on the popular Web site Myspace.com. “If you were killed tomorrow, I’m sorry I wouldn’t be able to come to your funeral cuz I’d be in jail for killing the person who did it.”

Her murder was just profiled on AMW and I wish I would have seen it, but it was pre-empted locally for pre-season football.

I hope her killer is brought to justice soon.

Woman kills stepdad with scissors over MySpace

Woman held after stepdad killed with scissors:

A young Brooklyn mother killed her stepfather by flinging a pair of scissors into his chest as she reached the boiling point in an long-simmering argument over her living in his house, authorities and witnesses said.

Police said Lynda Delaney, 26, was expected to be charged Monday night in the death of Daniel Ilardi, 55, who died early Monday, 10 hours after the Sunday afternoon confrontation.

Police said they were never called to Ilardi’s two-story home in Bensonhurst, where Delaney’s 2-year-old daughter, Alexa, and Delaney’s mother also live. But family members and friends said that Delaney’s living in the house has long been a source of tension.

“She said, ‘I’m going to kill your father. You’re father’s dead,” said Mathew Ilardi, the victim’s son, recalling Delaney’s words in recent days.

But several of Delaney’s friends spoke in her defense, saying that she was physically and verbally abused by her stepfather and mother, and was being attacked when she struck Ilardi with the scissors.

All said that Delaney had been arguing with her stepfather all day on Sunday.

At one point, the arguing became so heated that Delaney swung a box cutter at her stepfather, who managed to wrestle it away from her, according to Ilardi’s son.

Jennifer Para, 26, the suspect’s best friend, said the argument began because Delaney wanted to go on the Internet to check her Myspace account.

At about 5:30 p.m., Delaney allegedly flung the scissors at her stepfather, who was standing about five feet away, according to police and Mathew Ilardi, who witnessed the attack. The scissors struck the stepfather’s chest, piercing his right ventricle before falling to the ground, police said.

The elder Ilardi, a divorcee and father of six who manages a car storage business, struggled for life at Lutheran Medical Center, until he died at about 3:30 a.m. Monday, police and relatives said.

I was unable to locate Delaney’s MySpace account.
