Suspect in Donna Jou’s disappearance, arrested again

    Suspect in disappearance arrested:

Convicted sex offender and the last man seen with Donna Jou alive, John Steven Burgess, has been arrested yet again. For those of you who don’t know, Donna Jou met Burgess on craigslist and went on a date with him and that was the last time she was seen. He was last arrested for failing to report as a sex offender.

Now he’s been arrested for using a fake ID to steal DVDs from a Jacksonville, Florida Blockbuster.

Since Donna Jou has not been found, authorities are still unable to file charges against Burgess for Jou’s disappearance.

  • Odgren’s trial date set

    Odgren’s trial date set

Trial date set in Sudbury high school slaying:

You have got to be kidding me.

A trial date has been set for John Odgren. Odgren is the teen accused of stabbing his classmate James Alenson to death at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School in Massachusetts. The thing is, the trial date is almost a year away…

Middlesex Superior Court Judge Isaac Borenstein yesterday set a Sept. 15, 2008, trial date for John Odgren, 16. Odgren is charged with the Jan. 19 murder of classmate James Alenson, 15, inside the high school.

Not that I give a damn about Odgren, but why so long for a trial? Whatever happened to the speedy part? I want to see this kid get put away as soon as possible.

Odgren is also one of the kids that the Helen Lovejoy’s are rallying around, not only because he was charged as an adult, but he also has Asperger’s.

Ashton Glover’s parents confront her killer

Parents of murdered Sugar Land teen face killer in court:

The parents of Ashton Glover got to address their daughter’s killer in court. The quotes themselves are more powerful than anything I could write.

“Your curiosity has cost me a big part of my life,” said Terry Glover, the father of Ashton Glover, 16, who was killed more than a year ago.

“You have brought more pain to my life and my family than anything in the world,” Glover told Matthew R. McCombs, 19.

Glover and Ashton’s mother, Sue Smith, made statements from the witness stand Tuesday as their daughter’s killer sat motionless before them.

“After you were caught and I heard your reasoning for doing this to Ashton, I felt like I had been shot,” Smith said. “I can’t even say the words you used because they cut me to the bottom of my soul and will haunt me for the rest of my life.”

Terry Glover read his statement first as he stood just a few feet from McCombs, accompanied by his lawyers, Ira Chenkin and Ralph Gonzales.

“I will not get to see my daughter graduate from high school or college, I will not get to walk her down the aisle at her wedding,” Glover said. “Or be able to see her bring a child of her own into this world.”

Glover also said to McCombs: “Try to think how you would feel if you were in my shoes. Enjoy your new life and just remember this, there is no one to blame but yourself. May God have mercy on you.”

Then Ashton’s mother stepped to the witness box and gave McCombs a steady stare as she sat down.

Smith talked about singing a song, You Are My Sunshine, to Ashton and her older sister, Terica, when they were little girls.

“You, Matt McCombs, took my sunshine away,” she said.

Smith recalled the days after her daughter went missing when hundreds of people helped with the search effort. Smith said that 15 months after her daughter’s death people are still leaving messages on MySpace saying how much they miss the teen, who was also a student at Clements.

“Ashton was loved by so many, I lose sleep at night wondering how someone could do such a horrible thing to her. Why her? Why my baby?” Smith said.

    She then concluded her remarks.

“I want you to know that as long as there is a breath in my body I will fight every appeal to make sure that you stay behind bars where you belong.”

    From another article

Mother Sue Smith demanded that McCombs look her in the eye.

“I never knew I could hate someone so much,” she said. “I lose sleep at night wondering how someone could do such a horrible thing. Why my baby?”

The worst part is my gut tells me it had no effect on the little bastard whatsoever.

    Ashton Glover’s killer pleads guilty

Sugar Land teen pleads guilty in classmate’s killing:

Matt McCombs, the sick S.O.B. who shot Ashton Glover in the head over morbid curiosity, has pleaded guilty to the crime.

Under the plea, he was sentenced to 50 years in prison, but he will be eligible for parole in 25 years.

Ashton’s parents, Terry Glover and Sue Smith, were consulted by prosecutors about the plea arrangement before it was finalized and agreed to the terms. Both, along with other family and friends, were in court today.

Since it seems like Ashton’s parents agreed to the plea, I’m not going to complain.

The article states that no court date has been set for McComb’s partner Sean Brown, but as I’ve posted before, an Oct. 2 court date was originally set.

Murder trial set for Oct. 2:

A lot of people have been asking me when Matt McCombs and Sean would be going on trial for the murder of 16-year-old Ashton Glover. I originally heard that it was going to be the first week in October. That is still true, but now we have a specific date. It is going to start on October 2nd. Here’s hoping that justice is served with extreme prejudice.

  • Kevin Newland convicted

Spokane man convicted in young woman’s slaying:

It’s been a long time since we’ve discussed the disappearance and murder of 19-year-old Jamie Lynn Drake.

To refresh your memory, Jamie Lynn Drake disappeared in June 2006. Her car was found being driven by one Kevin Newland. Newland eventually led police to Drake’s body and was charged with her murder.

Cut to Friday, where Newland was convicted in Jamie Lynn Drake’s death. He’s looking at life without parole when sentenced. I wish he could be sentenced to death. Washington still has hangings.

  • Cassie Jo Stoddart’s killers sentenced

    Cassie Jo Stoddart’s killers sentenced

Teens get life sentences for murdering classmate:

The other day I posted about the brutal murder of Cassie Jo Stoddart. She was brutally murdered by two of her friends, at least one of which is a mutant. Her killers, Brian Draper, and Torey Adamcik were both sentenced to life without parole.

Adamcik’s uncle gave the following statement during the sentencing hearing…

“I feel very strongly that Torey is not a malicious person and that his life can yet be salvaged and that he can become a productive member of society,” said David Nelson, Adamcik’s Uncle.

Does this sound like a productive member of society?

“Just killed Cassie, we just left her house, this is not a f***ing joke,” says Brian Draper on the homemade videotape. “I’m shaking,” replies Adamcik.”I stabbed her in the throat and I saw her lifeless body just disappear,” says Draper.

    Cassie’s family disagrees as well…

“I’ve seen no remorse, no tears whatsoever from any of you and then finally when you do say something, ‘Oh we’re sorry about what happened to Cassie.’ It was the most unsympathetic, fake sorry I’ve ever heard in my life,” said Anna Stoddart, Cassie’s mother.

“You chose to do what you did, you chose not to walk away, you chose to cover the truth of your actions. You chose to leave Cassie dead in that house for days,” said Christie Stoddart, Cassie’s sister.

Like most mutants, they’re probably only sorry that they got caught.

State Presents Sentencing Recommendation for Draper:

I hadn’t heard about the murder of Cassie Jo Stoddart until today. She was a 16-year-old Idaho girl who was brutally murdered by two people she thought were her friends, Brian Draper, and Torey Adamcik. The murder was more than vicious, and the two teens actually videotaped the murder.

“Just killed Cassie, we just left her house, this is not a f***ing joke,” says Brian Draper on the homemade videotape. “I’m shaking,” replies Adamcik.”I stabbed her in the throat and I saw her lifeless body just disappear,” says Draper.

Both were tried as adults and convicted. Currently, they are going through the sentencing phase.

And guess what. It turns out one of them, Brian Draper, is a full-fledged mutant.

This is a passage written by Draper that was shown in court today. Titled Columbine, it reads: “I am becoming more and more obsessed with Columbine. It seems now that that’s all I think about. I would give anything to go back in time, and be a part of Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold’s lives. They are my heroes. I will follow in their footsteps and maybe I’ll even meet them.”

A series of some pictures that were also found on the hard drive of Draper’s laptop were displayed.

Many were from the Columbine shooting; others depicted various ages and types of people holding a gun to their head.

Too bad he can’t meet his heroes sooner rather than later.

A Year After Ashton Glover’s Death, Two Neighbors Face October Murder Trail:

A lot of people have been asking me lately if I’ve heard about a trial date for Sean Brown and Matt McCombs. They’re the alleged killers of Ashton Glover. They were friends of Ashton, who shot her in the head out of “morbid curiosity”.

Anyway, the trial is set for the first week of October. They’re both facing first-degree murder charges. I don’t know if prosecutors will be seeking the death penalty or not.
