  • More on Sean Brown’s guilty plea

Suspect pleads guilty in slaying of Fort Bend teen:

Yesterday I posted about Sean Brown’s guilty plea for the charges of helping to dispose of Ashton Glover’s body. I wondered what became of the murder charge against him. The article I linked to clears it all up…

Felcman said investigators did not have enough evidence to proceed with the murder charge. Brown, along with triggerman Matt McCombs, were indicted on charges of murder in the death of Glover, 16, who was shot the night of July 6, 2006 in a muddy field near Missouri City.

It also says that the Glovers agreed with the plea.

Brown will be eligible for parole in 5 years.

  • Sean Brown pleads guilty

Suspect pleads guilty to tampering with corpse in murder of Sugar Land teen:

One of the suspects in the murder of 16-year-old Ashton Glover has pleaded guilty.

Sean Brown pleaded guilty to charges of tampering with a corpse for helping Matt McCombs dispose of Ashton’s body. Brown was sentenced to 10 years.

If you remember Matt McCombs shot Ashton in the head out of ‘morbid curiosity’. McCombs pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 50 years with the possibility of parole in 25.

I don’t know if prosecutors have dropped the murder charge against Brown.

  • Underwood found guilty

    NEW: Jury finds Underwood guilty:

An Oklahoma jury took less than an hour to find Kevin Underwood guilty in the murder of 10-year-old Jamie Rose Bolin.

Underwood killed her, molested her, in that order, then tried to sever her head in order to consume her flesh.

The prosecution is seeking the death penalty for this monster. If there was anyone the death penalty was designed for it’s Underwood.

Underwood defense asks to strike death penalty option:

The defense for would be cannibal Kevin Ray Underwood is trying to get the death penalty taken off the table because of press leaks.

Underwood’s defense attorney, L. Wayne Woodyard, appearing in Cleveland County District Court, argued Wednesday that too much information about the case has been leaked to the public that the case no longer represents “due process.” He asked that the bill of particulars be struck and the death penalty be taken out of consideration for sentencing.

The defense pointed out the latest instance of “leaks” to the media. A TV news station ran a story Feb. 11 that unnamed sources revealed a sealed judgment of District Judge Candace Blalock. Only about an hour after the lawyers received the judgment via e-mail, it was posted online that Blalock decided to let incriminating evidence into the trial, the defense said.

The defense blamed the District Attorney’s office for the leak.

This is what I like to call grasping at straws.

As the District Attorney pointed out in the article Mr. Woodyard knows that Underwood is a lost cause. Underwood basically confessed to the killing of 10-year-old Jamie Rose Bolin and the desire to consume her flesh. This isn’t some overcomplicated case that you might see on some crime drama TV show.

I’d be very surprised if the death penalty is removed as a sentencing option.

  • Brain exam allowed for one of Cassie Jo Stoddart’s killers

Judge Allows Brain Exam on Adamcik:

Congratulations to the citizens of Idaho. You’re now footing the bill for a neurological exam for an already convicted killer.

Torey Adamcik and his mutant buddy Brian Draper were both sentenced to life without parole in the brutal murder of 16-year-old Cassie Jo Stoddart. Don’t forget they also videotaped the murder.

Now Judge Peter McDermott has allowed the request of Adamcik’s attorney for the state to pay for a brain scan because his lawyer claims that Adamcik has a ‘brain deficiency’.

In his ruling Judge McDumbass stated…

“Mr. Adamcik is a needy person… He is being detained under a conviction of a serious crime, since he has been sentenced to a fixed life term without the possibility of parole. Mr. Adamcik does not have the funds, or the ability to generate the funds necessary to conduct the neuropsychological examination requested by his attorney.”

So how is that the state’s responsibility? The state has already proved Adamcik’s role in Cassie Jo Stoddart’s murder. Why should state now have to foot the bill for a ploy by his attorney to get his sentence reduced? If McDermott wants the test done so bad why doesn’t he pay for it out of his own pocket? Better yet why don’t all the people who think that he shouldn’t have been tried as an adult chip in? Oh, that’s right, they don’t put their money where their mouth is.

  • craigslist killer case continued

Craigslist case continued until May 7:

Today Michael John Anderson was supposed to have entered his plea in the murder of Katherine Ann Olson. He’s accused of killing her and hiding her body after she responded to a phony employment ad on craigslist placed by Anderson. However, the case has been continued until May 7th.

According to this article, the case was continued because prosecutors have requested more time to complete forensic testing.

  • Judge seals decision on Underwood confession

Judge seals decision about slaying suspect’s confession:

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything about Kevin Ray Underwood. He’s the slimeball from Purcell, Oklahoma who is accused of killing 10-year-old Jamie Rose Bolin so he could consume her flesh. That’s right folks. Kevin the Cannibal. It’s not the Hannibal Lechters you have to worry about, it’s the guy next door.

Anyway, a judge has made a decision on whether or not Underwood’s confession will be heard in court but the decision has been sealed. It’s more than likely we won’t know the judge’s decision until the trial starts on the 19th.

Prosecutors say that Underwood freely confessed to the murder and gave permission to police to search his house after he asked for an attorney.

“When a defendant requests an attorney, you don’t have to get them one,” she said. “All that has to be done is to cease interrogation, and that was done.”

That quote was from Assistant District Attorney Susan Caswell.

    The defense argues that…

While agents were not required to stop Underwood from talking about the crime after he asked for a lawyer, it does not mean that the testimony can be allowed in court.

Defense attorneys argued that the environment surrounding Underwood was designed to break his will, citing these reasons:

    •Not securing Underwood in a holding cell;

    •Delays getting booked into jail and being arraigned;

•Asking Underwood to sign a search waiver after he asked for a lawyer.

Defense lawyers argue that when someone invokes their constitutional rights, that means officers can’t question them any further and they can’t ask the suspect for permission to search their house.

Excuse me while I rant for just a moment.

How in the hell do these criminal defense attorneys sleep at night? This isn’t ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ we’re talking about. Underwood admits that he murdered a 10-year-old red-headed girl with freckles and glasses so he could cannibalize her corpse. Her body was found in his apartment. In my opinion, some criminals are beyond defense and Underwood is one of them. As far as I’m concerned he should be fed to a pack of wild dogs for what he did. Yet these attorneys want to weasel their way to an acquittal knowing full well what he’s guilty of. Maybe selling your soul makes it so you don’t require sleep. Maybe criminal defense attorneys like this are nothing more than the undead. The fact that this scumbag has even the slightest chance of being released scares me more than any vampire or zombie movie.

Anyway, the trial will take place in Norman, Oklahoma due to a change of venue request. I hope the change of scenery doesn’t help his case at all.

  • craigslist killer due in court

    Murder suspect in court Tuesday:

Michael John Anderson of Savage, Minnesota is scheduled to appear in court this Tuesday to enter his plea. Anderson is accused in the murder of Katherine Ann Olson. Ms. Olson answered a fake ad on craigslist placed by Anderson advertising a nannying job. When Olson arrived for the ‘interview’ Anderson allegedly killed her by shooting her in the back and then disposed of her body.

If Anderson pleads not guilty then a trial date will be set.

  • Trial rescheduled for Sean Brown

    Trial rescheduled for Sean Brown

Trial of Suspect in Sugar Land Teen Murder Rescheduled:

The trial for the other suspect in the murder of 16-year-old Ashton Glover from Sugar Land, Texas has been rescheduled as additional charges have been added. Sean Brown was not the trigger man in Ashton’s death but helped dispose of her body. Matthew McCombs was the actual killer, who killed Ashton out of ‘morbid curiosity’. McCombs had previously copped to a plea of 50 years with the possibility of parole in 25. He also said that Brown had nothing to with the murder.

Apparently, the prosecution disagrees as they’ve filed an additional charge of obstruction of evidence since Brown was complicit in helping McCombs dispose of Ashton’s body. The pair tried to flee to Canada after the murder but were caught at the border.

Due to the additional charge, the trial for Brown has been rescheduled until March. The trial was supposed to have started today.

Social Services probed after the death of Zoe Garcia

Weld County probed in deaths of 7-year-olds:

Weld County’s Department of Social Services of Colorado is being investigated in the wake of the death of Zoe Garcia. As I’ve mentioned, Garcia was killed by her sister Heather Trujillo and her boyfriend Lamar Roberts when they beat Zoe to death while allegedly imitating Mortal Kombat.

Neighbors had contacted Weld County DSS with concerns about Zoe’s well-being, but apparently, DSS didn’t do enough. Yet, I’m sure some people will be too busy pointing fingers at a video game rather than a failure of the system and a horrendous family situation.
