  • Michele Cossey sentenced

Pa. mom sentenced for helping son get weapons:

Michele Cossey, the mother of Dillon Cossey, was sentenced to four months in prison and five years probation. If you’ll recall Dillon Cossey was arrested for plotting an attack against Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School outside of Philadelphia even though he was homeschooled. Michele Cossey bought her underage son one of the guns that he planned on using.

Even after Dillon Cossey was sentenced his mom still showed spoiling tendencies by smuggling fast food into her son while he was in detention.

For once I’m actually glad to see a parent being held responsible for allowing their kid to plot a school attack.

  • Dillon Cossey improving, Mom not so much

Judge praises school plotter, criticizes mother:

At a hearing for would be school shooter Dillon Cossey Montgomery County Court Judge Paul Tressler had some words of encouragement to Dillon.

Tressler, who initially did not recognize the teen, was effusive in his praise of the boy’s progress, especially his weight loss of 73 pounds, down from 305 pounds a year ago. He took a request for a home visit from the boy’s attorney, J. David Farrell, under advisement.

“You’ve done well,” the judge said. “I see you going home – you’ve earned it.”

If you’ll remember Dillon Cossey was the home-schooled kid from outside of Philadelphia who plotted to attack Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School. He also had contact with Pekka Eric Auvinen of the Jokela massacre in Finland but that’s neither here nor there. Also if you’ll recall, Cossey’s mother, Michele Cossey, provided her son with some of the guns he planned to use. Judge Tressler did not have such kind words for her.

Tressler said that although he was pleased with Dillon Cossey’s evaluations, he echoed the concerns of prosecutor Sharon Giamporcaro, chief of the juvenile division, about his mother.

“His major problem is sitting right over there – that lady in blue,” the judge said, looking at Michele Cossey, 47. “You have destroyed this kid. . . . Until I trust you – and I do not at this point – he will not come home to you.”

Visibly upset, Michele Cossey raised her hand, hoping to speak.

“This isn’t a school – just keep quiet,” the judge responded.

Can I get an OH SNAP?

It seems that Michele Cossey had continued her spoiling ways by bringing Dillon food while he was in detention. She’s been told that if she does it again she will be barred from seeing her son for a month.

I’m glad to see a parent being held responsible for once for actions that emotionally damaged their child.

  • Michele Cossey pleads guilty

Student’s mother pleads guilty in plot at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School:

Michele Cossey pleaded guilty in court yesterday to charges of endangering the welfare of children. Cossey was arrested for supplying her son, Dillon Cossey, with illegal firearms that she purchased.

Dillon Cossey was arrested last year for plotting an attack against Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School outside of Philadelphia even though he had been homeschooled for over a year.

A sentencing date has not been set yet.

  • Michele Cossey to take plea

Potential plea in high school shooting plot case:

Do you remember the name, Michele Cossey? She’s the 47-year-old ‘mother’ who supplied firearms to her teenage son Dillon who was going to use them to attack Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School in Pennsylvania.

In case you don’t remember let the article refresh your memory…

Even while knowing that her son was troubled, Cossey bought him three guns – a 9 mm semiautomatic rifle, a .22-caliber rifle and a .22-caliber handgun – and the makings for live grenades including inert grenades, gunpowder and BB pellets, according to the criminal complaint.

Police found the 9 mm rifle with laser scope and seven homemade grenades, four of which were live, along with numerous air and BB guns, knives and Columbine-related materials, in Cossey’s son’s bedroom on the night of Oct. 10, 2007, when they searched the home.

Also, she was home-schooling Dillon in the 18 months prior to his arrest.

Anyway, it looks like she’ll be entering into a plea agreement as early as Monday.

Michele Cossey has been charged with endangering the welfare of children, unlawful transfer of firearms, possession of a firearm by a minor, corruption of minors and recklessly endangering another.

No word yet on any of the details of the plea. If she gets away with no jail time then it will be a victory for criminal parenting.

  • Dillon Cossey’s mom to undergo psych exam

Mother of attack plot teen to be evaluated:

The Mother of Dillon Cossey, Michele Cossey and the woman who supplied him with the guns, has been court ordered to undergo a psych eval. Michele Cossey’s attorney declined to say the reason he requested the evaluation. The prosecutors did not object to the defense’s request.

    Personally, I don’t think she’s crazy, she’s just a bad parent.

    Dillon Cossey sentenced

Pa. Boy Sentenced for Stockpiling Guns:

Dillon Cossey is the 14-year-old homeschooled boy from Pennsylvania who pleaded guilty to plotting an attack against Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School. Today, he was sentenced to 7 years in a juvenile facility. The case has been noteworthy because of Cossey’s mom, Michele Cossey, buying guns for her precious little snowflake. She’s facing charges as well, however the judge let her have it in court today…

In court, the judge said Dillon’s mother, Michele Cossey, had created a “me and mom against the world” attitude in her son.

“This kid has been so totally desocialized, he has no friends,” Tressler said.

“You want this kid dependent on you? Go buy a dog, go buy a pet,” he told Michele Cossey.

And you don’t let him sit on the computer all day unsupervised.

I’m guessing mom won’t receive nearly as much time as her mutant brood, but she should.

  • Dillon Cossey’s mom held for trial

Dillon Cossey’s mom held for trial

Mother of Plymouth Whitemarsh High youth held for trial:

Michele Cossey, the mother of would be school shooter Dillon Cossey, has been ordered to stand trial on charges of unlawful transfer of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a minor, and child endangerment. If you recall, it was revealed after Dillon Cossey was arrested that his mother was the one who bought the firearms for the 14-year-old.

Dillon Cossey came to the attention of police on Oct. 10 after a friend told authorities the teen planned a Columbine-like assault on Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. Cossey, who is in the custody of juvenile authorities, admitting the plot and said his mother bought him the weapons, which led to charges against his mother.

This is the first case that I can recollect where a parent is being charged in connection with a school shooting plot.

  • Michele Cossey released

    Michele Cossey released

Mother released on bail after charged with buying weapons for son:

Michele Cossey, the mother of Dillon Cossey, has been released on bail. She was charged with buying a .22-caliber handgun, a .22-caliber rifle and a 9-millimeter semiautomatic rifle for her son. Dillon Cossey was arrested for plotting an armed attack against Plymouth Whitemarsh High School in Pennsylvania.

Investigators said in court papers that the mother bought the rifle, which had a laser scope, at a gun show in September and provided police with a receipt.

A laser scope? Nice. Way to make sure your kid has deadly accuracy.

Luckily Dillon Cossey was never in possession of any ammunition.

  • MontCo mutant’s MySpace and maternal misadventures

MontCo mutant’s MySpace and maternal misadventures

Online musings bent toward guns, violence:

It seems that our homeschooled mutant from yesterday had a MySpace and loved to flaunt his mutantcy.

His username, in part, was “the killer.”

His motto: “Mess with the best, Die like the rest.”

His interests: “Shooting . . . war, the North Hollywood shoot-out, bank robbers, the Columbine massacre.”

The North Hollywood Shootout? That’s a new one. For those of you who don’t know, The North Hollywood Shootout took place 10 years ago between armored bank robbers and the LAPD, in which the LAPD were massively outgunned by the bank robbers.

There’s a very famous video of one of the gunmen just firing repeatedly into a police car. I tried to find it on YouTube, but it was just filled with mutant-like tributes to the gunmen. But I digress…

The ramblings, riddled with grammar and spelling errors, profanity and teen bravado, suggest the teen is deeply disturbed and fantasizes about hurting people. The Daily News is withholding his name because he is a juvenile.

    Nothing new there.

“I love to blow s— up, and I’m a bit of a merc,” he wrote in the “About Me” section of his page.

Yeah, because the world is just filled with 14-year-old mercenaries.

In his latest blog entry, posted in March, the boy wrote: “I am pretymuch the posterboy for the person that rests upon the line between Geineus and Madman/Pycopath, (23 ppl just left the page . . . ) feel free to messege me, and dont tell me how carzy I am, belive me I know, I have to live with myself 24 f—— 7. welcome to hell!!!! O and as 4 my personal saying . . . if at first you dont sucseed, use the armor piercing rounds.”

In precious few postings, he seems like a typical teenager. He admits he adores the singer Avril Lavigne and the movie “Star Wars.” He also inflated his age to 17.

But in other posts he lists his heroes as Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, the Colorado teens who gunned down 37 people, 13 fatally, in their high school in 1999.

And, as other heroes, two bank robbers who got into a 1997 shootout with Los Angeles police, and two World War II snipers.

He also posted videos – one with a song apparently titled “Stray Bullet” – showing fictionalized school shootings. One video shows a scowling young gunman hunting down victims, shooting some at point-blank range, in a school library, a cafeteria, a hallway and classrooms.

Also posted is a link to a Web site memorializing Harris and Klebold.

Of course, he did. All the mutants do.

He describes himself as a soldier, writing: “Im a soldier, my favorit rifle is the AK-47, my fav handguns are the M-92-F Beretta, and the Colt.45-m-1911-A-1.”

He also claimed to be leader of the I.C.A. Military Group, which he explains only as the “Imperial Cobra Army.”

So now he thinks he’s Cobra Commander?

We always ask where are the parents when something like this goes down. Well, in this case, the parents were almost accomplices.

In December 2005, the boy’s father wanted to get his son a gun for his birthday. He went to Dick’s Sporting Goods on Chemical Road in Plymouth Township. He filled out an application for a .22-caliber rifle and lied about his criminal record, saying he had never been convicted of a felony.

In fact, the dad pleaded guilty in 1981 to first-degree manslaughter for driving while drunk and killing someone in a collision in Oklahoma City. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison and released in 1987. Ironically, according to court documents, the father was also a deserter from the Marine Corps.

It seems the mutant doesn’t slink too far from the sewer.

His father’s name is Frank E. Cossey. His Mom, Michele Cossey, is also being charged.

Michele Cossey bought her home-schooled son a .22-caliber handgun, a .22-caliber rifle and a 9 mm semiautomatic rifle, authorities said.

That’s some mighty fine parenting right there. Like I said before, it’s obvious that the kid’s homeschooling was suspect, since these homeschoolers don’t have the best judgment in the world.
