  • E.O. Green shooter to undergo psych eval

    Brandon McInerney’s Mental Health Questioned:

I guess the defense for Brandon McInerney will be attempting an insanity defense as they have filed a motion to see if their client is mentally competent to stand trial. Two court-appointed psychologists will evaluate the 14-year-old McInerney.

As you may remember McInerney stands accused in the shooting death of openly gay E.O. Green Junior High student Lawrence King. McInerney has been charged as an adult.

Anyway, I think this is the first straw his lawyers are grasping at trying to prove that he was insane at the time of the shooting. Because I’m sure it had nothing to do with the philosophy of hate that he more than likely subscribed to.

  • E.O. Green shooter pleads not guilty

Teen Pleads Not Guilty in Murder of Gay Classmate:

Yesterday 14-year-old Brandon McInerney pleaded not guilty to the shooting death of Lawrence King. As discussed previously King was an openly gay student who was bullied by McInerney and to defend himself King would mockingly flirt with him. McInerney didn’t take kindly to this and shot and killed King in front of a bunch of witnesses at E.O. Green Junior High. Yet he pleads not guilty.

McInerney has been charged as an adult on first-degree murder charges with a hate crime sentencing enhancement. That means that he’s looking at 51 to life behind bars with no possibility for parole.

His attorney is calling that a death sentence…

“This is essentially a death sentence for Brandon McInerney,” said Quest, who is asking that the boy be tried on a lesser charge of manslaughter. “That is the only way Brandon does not die in prison.”

But it’s ok for Lawrence King to die in school? Manslaughter usually denotes a ‘spur of the moment’ killing if you will. This was no spur of the moment. This was obviously premeditated. If your client didn’t want a ‘death sentence’ he shouldn’t have killed Lawrence King.

On the other side of the fence, we have a quote from Lawrence King’s father that makes my blood boil…

King’s parents say they support the adult charge.

“He went into a classroom in front of other students and shot my son in the back of the head twice,” father Greg King said. “For is age to be taken into consideration – he didn’t take my son’s age into consideration.”

While I agree with what he’s saying you have to remember that the family kicked Lawrence King out of the house for being gay and are now trying to cash in by suing the school for not preventing the shooting.

Maybe if you let Lawrence live at home like a family is supposed to none of this would have happened.

  • Was E.O. Green shooter a white supremacist?

School shooting suspect had white supremacist material:

To the surprise of no one with a half decent level of intelligence white supremacist materials were found in the home of 14-year-old Brandon McInerney. McInerney is accused of shooting and killing openly gay student 15-year-old Lawrence (Larry) King at E.O. Green Middle school.

McInerney’s lawyer claims it was just material from studying about WW II in school. However, prosecutors contend that the material written by McInerney contained the number 88 which is code used by white supremacists for ‘Heil Hitler’ since H is the 8th letter of the alphabet. The material also contained references to the ’14 Words’. Neither of those symbols were ever used by Nazi Germany and were created by more modern white supremacists.

These materials are what prosecutors used in part to establish hate crime charges against McInerney.

  • Lawrence King’s parents blame school for shooting

Family of gay boy says dress code led to killing:

In one of the most blatant acts of irresponsibility I’ve read about lately the parents of Lawrence King filed a personal injury claim against the school district for not enforcing the dress code leading to the shooting death of 15-year-old King at E.O. Green Junior High.

To recap King was openly gay and would sometimes wear women’s clothes to school. King was bullied by Brandon McInerney and King would retaliate by mockingly flirting with McInerney which led to King being killed by McInerney.

Filing a claim personal injury is a precursor to a lawsuit.

His parents, Dawn and Gregory King, allege faculty knew their son had “unique vulnerabilities” and was subject to abuse because of his sexual orientation.

Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t King’s parents throw him out of their house for being gay? So if they really wanted to protect him they wouldn’t have thrown him out and wouldn’t have let him dress like that to school.

The blame does not lie with the school district, it lies with Brandon McInerney and to a lesser extent Dawn and Gregory King. Ultimately it was your responsibility on what Lawrence wore to school. Any money you collect from this is nothing but blood money.

  • E.O. Green shooter pleads not guilty

Teenager accused of murdering gay classmate pleads not guilty:

14-year-old Brandon McInerney pleaded not guilty this past week to the shooting death of 15-year-old Lawrence King. It’s alleged that McInerney shot and killed King at E.O. Green Junior High School because when McInerney bullied King for being gay King would mockingly flirt with McInerney.

McInerney has been charged with murder and of course, his defense attorney has a problem with that.

Yesterday his defence lawyer said the decision to try him for murder and not manslaughter was effectively a “death sentence.”

Oh you mean like the death sentence McInerney gave King for being gay?

  • E.O. Green shooter to be tried as adult

Teen accused of shooting gay classmate to be tried as an adult:

14-year-old Brandon McInerney will be tried as an adult in the shooting death of 15-year-old Lawrence King at E.O. Green Junior High School.

King was an openly gay student who got back at the bullying from McInerney by mockingly flirting with him.

27 LGBT activist groups had requested that McInerney not be tied as an adult.

McInerney faces life in prison if convicted.

  • Lawyer says shooting was school’s fault

Lawyer blames school in shooting of gay Oxnard student:

Do criminal defense attorneys come up with the most bizarre defenses because it’s not their neck on the line?

The attorney for 14-year-old Brandon McInerney is saying that it was the school’s fault that McInerney shot 15-year-old Larry King.

Educators should have moved aggressively to quell rising tensions between the two boys, which began when King openly flirted with McInerney, said Deputy Public Defender William Quest.

Instead, administrators were so intent on nurturing King as he explored his sexuality, allowing him to come to school wearing feminine makeup and accessories, that they downplayed the turmoil that his behavior was causing on campus, Quest said.

No you scumbag, tensions rose when McInerney started harassing King because he was openly gay. King turned the tables on McInerney by flirting with him. McInerney couldn’t take his own medicine and shot King killing him. The school didn’t put the gun in McInerney’s hand.

  • LGBT groups want shooter tried as juvenile

LGBT Groups: Try Lawrence King’s Killer as a Juvenile:

According to the article, 27 LGBT groups have issued a statement that said they would like to see Brandon McInerney tried as a juvenile. 14-year-old McInerney is accused of gunning down Lawrence King in cold blood at E.O. Green Junior High School in Oxnard, California. King was an openly gay student at the school. He often got back at his tormentors, including McInerney, by mockingly flirting with them.

    From the statement…

“We are issuing this joint statement because we believe so strongly in principles of justice that protect all our young people and know that, even in the face of strong emotions, we should not abandon them.

“We refuse to let our sense of outrage blind us to the fact that the suspect is only 14 years old.”

By now you should know my feelings on trying murderers as juveniles so I’ll refrain from ranting.

However I know I have some readers that are L’s at least one B and maybe a G, hell I might even have a T. I’d like to know do these activist groups speak for you or do you think that McInerney should be tried as an adult?

  • More on E.O. Green shooting

A deadly clash of emotions before Oxnard shooting:

This is an article from the L.A. Times that is very in-depth about the shooting at E.O. Green Junior High School in Oxnard, CA. 15-year-old Larry King was shot and killed by 14-year-old Brandon McInerney. King was openly gay and was tormented about by McInerney. To stand up for himself King would mockingly flirt with McInerney when he was being bullied by him. This led to McInerney being teased for allegedly being gay which he wasn’t. Because of this McInerney shot and killed Larry King.

What I despise about the article is that it makes McInerney out to be a victim also because he had a hard life. Larry King had a hard life and had the extra stigma of being gay in a middle school. But instead of turning to violence to defend himself Larry King used his wits.

The only victim here is Larry King.

  • E.O. Green Junior High shooter has hate crime tacked on to murder charge

Boy, 14, charged with murder, hate crime:

The gunman in the E.O. Green Junior High School shooting has been identified as 14-year-old Brandon David McInerney. Since his victim, 15-year-old Lawrence King, has been declared brain-dead and will not survive McInerney is being charged with murder with what the article calls a hate crime enhancement.

Prosecutors are saying that they do intend to try McInerney as an adult. With the murder charge, he’s looking at 25 to life. The hate crime enhancement would tack on another three years.

Prosecutors are not saying why the hate crime charges were filed but classmates of King say that he was either gay or a crossdresser.

Several classmates have said King would wear feminine attire, making him an unpopular figure with other boys at his campus.

King sometimes came to school wearing makeup and high heels, said eighth-grader Nicholas Cortez, 14.

Another eighth-grader, Michael Sweeney, said King’s appearance was “freaking the guys out,” the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday.

“He would come to school in high-heeled boots, makeup, jewelry and painted nails – the whole thing,” Sweeney told the Times.

Personally, I think all crimes are hate crimes but anything that will keep this little ball of hate behind bars longer is ok with me.

Now I’m not trying to cast aspersions on the victim or his family. I have nothing against gay people or crossdressers but at 15 and in a public school you would think his parents would have stepped in and stopped him from dressing like that at school. One would have to know that dressing like that would only invite trouble.
