  • craigslist gets BBB’s lowest rating

    Craigslist tops BBB warning list:

One of the Indiana chapters of the Better Business Bureau just gave a ratings smackdown to our favorite online classifieds.

“Craigslist has the BBB’s lowest rating, because they are not responding, not taking care of their customers,” said BBB President Linda Carmondy.

The site has set it up to protect their interests, but not necessarily the customers.

I get a lot of e-mails where people say they contacted craigslist about their issue and never heard back. That’s more of the rule than the exception.

Eventually, craigslist will degenerate into nothing but blithering idiots posting in the rants and raves section, stolen merchandise, and of course prostitution. If craigslist doesn’t do anything to correct the problems they may not have any legitimate users in the future.

  • Sex offender in mom’s basement

Local Teen Meets Sex Offender On MySpace:

34-year-old Dennis Boehm of Indiana met a 20-year-old girl over MySpace. Except that the girl was actually 15. When the girl told him she was 15 that didn’t discourage him any. He picked the girl up from her church in his van (windowless I’m sure) and took her to an American Legion parking lot where they had sex.

Dennis had a secret of his own though. He’s a registered sex offender who spent 11 years in prison for the attempted rape of two kids ages 9 and 11.

Boehm lives with his parents, no shock there, and they’re in complete denial. They claim the girl never told him her real age. But it’s not like he’s a registered sex offender or anything. Oh, wait, yes he is.

He’s now looking at 6-20 years behind bars.

UPDATE: What do you know. Mom’s basement dweller is a Juggalo. Thanks, Nancy.

  • Indiana doesn’t get it either

    Indiana doesn’t get it either

Law could ban sex offenders from Myspace:

Just like his cohorts from other states, Indiana Attorney General Steve Carter just doesn’t get it. Like his other counterparts, he is proposing legislation that is supposed to keep registered sex offenders off of MySpace and other social networking sites.

Carter says convicted sex offenders will be required to give police their usernames and emails at the same time they register with their basic information like where they live.

As usual, Attorney General Carter doesn’t address the issues of registered sex offenders using different e-mails and usernames that they gave police or sex offenders who haven’t been caught yet. Not to mention clueless parents who let their children roam the internet unchecked. Oh, that’s right. I forgot. Those clueless parents are also voters.

  • Marilyn Niqui McCown

    Marilyn Niqui McCown

One of my readers on the Latoyia Figueroa thread came forward and said that she too had a missing relative. A commenter by the name of Michelle said that she is the sister of Marilyn Niqui McCown. She has been missing since July 22, 2001, when she disappeared from a laundromat in Richmond, Indiana.
