  • Close to divorced man busted for child porn, solicitation

Man Charged With Soliciting Teen For Sex:

40-year-old Charles R. Mowder of Midlothian, Illinois was arrested for trying to solicit sex from a 16-year-old girl. Illinois’ age of consent is 17.

A woman, who I assume was the girl’s guardian, found the e-mails that Mowder was sending to the girl and notified police. Police, in turn, searched Mowder’s computer which turned up child porn.

According to one of Mowder’s MySpaces

    About me:

i am a gentleman in chicago very close to divorce, into bdsm, travel, and seeking someone to join me for fun, and maybe more.

    Who I’d like to meet:

someone interesting, bi, and that is looking for fun, and maybe more. one that is a sub, and seeking a bdsm lifestyle

I bet that divorce is closer than it was before.

You know it’s that he’s bi or into BDSM that would have tipped me off to him being a creeper. It’s his lack of capital letters that would have been a tip-off to me. If he misspelled all his words he probably could have passed as a teenager.

Thanks to Mr. A for the tip.

  • Illinois teens sentenced for rape

Teens Sentenced In 2006 MySpace Rape:

It seems like I’ve been blogging about this case since forever and now it comes to a very anti-climactic and unjust end in my opinion.

Then 18-year-old Angel Alverio and then 17-year-old Tony Pacheco met a 14-year-old girl over MySpace, got her drunk until she passed out and raped her.

So how does the justice system punish these two? Well for all intents and purposes they didn’t They both received 24 months of probation and 10 years on the sex offender registry.

That’s a great message. Commit rape and you’ll only get probation. Pathetic.

Thanks to Chrys for the tip.

  • Child prostitution in Downers Grove

Bolingbrook men plead not guilty to juvenile pimping charge:

While we’re on the subject of child prostitution, because we were, comes this story from Downers Grove, Illinois.

Downers Grove police arrested 20-year-old Brandon Spain and 22-year-old Ivan Atilano on charges of juvenile pimping. The pair was arrested on June 2nd during a craigslist prostitution sting in which police found out that the two of them collected money from a 16-year-old girl that they were allegedly prostituting.

The girl was a runaway they were harboring. I’m sure there’s no way that she can be considered a victim right?

  • Peoria ‘parents’ won’t face death penalty

Lyons says pair won’t face death sentence:

If you’ve been following my sites for some time you may remember a story I posted here about a couple of so-called parents who left their baby in his car seat in his crib for eight days and starved him to death. If I remember correctly the young ‘parents’ were too busy playing video games to feed their own child. After eight days the baby starved to death.

Originally prosecutors stated that they were going to seek the death penalty for 21-year-old Tracy Hermann and 23-year-old James Sargent.

Unfortunately, that has not come to be and more than likely will not happen.

Peoria County State’s Attorney Kevin Lyons said too many pitfalls exist to make the death penalty a realistic option, including Tracy Hermann and James Sargent’s mental health issues and the fact that they are blaming each other for the boy’s death.

‘Instead, I’ll seek to make them live in the general populations of the Stateville, Pontiac and Menard prisons, each day, every day,’ Lyons said.

‘When it is all over, I expect their names and their existence here to be forgotten while they are shuffled off to prison … to remain forgotten, unimportant, and away from the free world that they so (selfishly) took from the baby they decided to make … and then leave to literally cry itself to death.’

    That’s my kind of prosecutor.

Sargent is said to be using a mental history defense while Hermann claims ‘she was simply not interested in parenting.’

Maybe they should have thought of that before these to dirtbags decided to do the horizontal hokey pokey. Not only that but there’s this thing called giving a baby up for adoption. Maybe you should have looked into that.

  • Cook County Sheriffs want erotic services eliminated

Sheriff wants Craigslist to drop ads for erotic services:

The Cook County Sheriff’s Department in Illinois wants craigslist to shut down their erotic services section for various reasons. Two of which are…

When a Cook County sheriff’s investigator posed as a 14-year-old girl looking for sex online earlier this year, this was one of the replies:

“I’d love to chat with you and set up some fun this afternoon. Do you have a pic of you?”

    And…

In one case, the prostitute rented one room for her business and another for her children, Mateck said. After the woman was arrested, she failed to tell police her children were staying in another room, Mateck said.

“Our officer went to the room, knocked on the door, and the woman’s 4-year-old daughter opened it,” Mateck said. “They went in and found the woman’s 2-year old son scooping water out of the toilet to drink.”

But there are no victims, right?

Cook County sheriffs have contacted craigslist but as of the time of the article, they have not received a response.

  • Naperville predator kills himself

Convicted rapist hangs himself in cell after arrest, prison officials say:

About a week ago I posted about Bryan Halstead He was arrested in Naperville, Illinois for trying to meet an underage girl he met on MySpace. Halstead was already a convicted sex offender for the 1986 rape of a 13-year-old girl and shooting her father.

It seems that Mr. Halstead decided to save the courts a lot of time and resources. Halstead hanged himself in his cell shortly after his arrest.

Thanks to Mike for the tip.

  • Another predator in Naperville

Naperville police say paroled rapist tried to lure girl online:

It’s been a while since I posted a story about Naperville, Illinois but here we are. Outside of Connecticut, Naperville seems like the MySpace predator capital of the world.

This time paroled rapist Bryan E. Halstead, 44, of Chicago Heights was arrested in Naperville for posing as a teenage boy to meet an underage girl. The underage girl was actually Naperville police.

There originally was a girl but her astute parents discovered Halstead’s message and contacted police.

  • Parents of Baby Left Alone in Car Seat for 8 Days Face Murder Charges

    Link

Tracey Hermann, 21, and James Sargent, 23, are charged in the child neglect death of their 5-month old son Benjamin Sargent. They’re accused of leaving the baby strapped in a car seat, in his crib for 8 days while, among other activities, played video games.

Should this reflect on gamers as a whole? Hell no it shouldn’t. This should only reflect on two ‘people’ who didn’t give a damn about their own son. Video games weren’t the only thing they did for 8 days and if they didn’t play video games they would have done something equally as trivial instead of caring for their own child.

  • Written Permission

Cross seeks new Internet safety laws to shield kids:

State legislators in Illinois are trying to pass a law that would require sites like MySpace and Facebook to get written parental permission before kids would be allowed on the site.

This may be the stupidest proposed legislation yet.

Is the state going to verify each and every written permission that they receive to make sure the signatures are authentic? Because you know no kid would ever just have someone sign as their parents.

Let’s throw some reactionary quotes from politicians in order to enrage the unenlightened.

Cross and Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow acknowledged the proposed laws are aggressive and that lawmakers could face some obstacles in getting them passed. Some judges might feel some of the proposals could violate freedom of speech, Glasgow said.

But they also said it would be worth the fight.

“This is an area that is constantly evolving,” said Glasgow, calling the Internet a “portal to hell” where children are concerned. “We have to very aggressively push the legislative envelope.”

This isn’t pushing the legislative envelope, it’s legislatively crashing and burning.

The government wasn’t designed to be parents to everyone.

  • Aurora couple pimp out 17-year-old on craigslist

Aurora couple charged for offering sex via Craigslist:

22-year-old Jermel Pope and 33-year-old Mary Jefferson of Aurora, Illinois (party on Wayne) have been arrested on pandering charges. That’s pimping to the rest of us. It seems they helped a 17-year-old run away from Bagley, Wisconsin then pimped her out, among others, on craigslist.

The 17-year-old has been charged as an adult with prostitution. I’m not sure I agree with that charge but the police must have their reasons.
