    ‘Most Wanted’ joins Giovanni search:

Giovanni Gonzalez will be featured on this week’s episode of America’s Most Wanted during their missing person’s segment.

“We had a huge amount of people to choose from. This one was a no-brainer. We have a missing child. We need information,” said Most Wanted correspondent Jon Leiberman Wednesday.

Hopefully, this will help in bringing him home.

As much as I’ve been complaining that the national media has not been paying any attention to the Giovanni Gonzalez story I received an e-mail today that restored my faith in humanity. The one national media outlet that is actually doing what it can for Giovanni is America’s Most Wanted. They have an extensive profile of the situation on their website.

Every week I and a lot of other crime bloggers receive an e-mail letting us know what’s on AMW that week. Hopefully, they’ll have Giovanni’s story featured on this week’s episode.

  • The latest on Giovanni Gonzalez

Lynn police scour evidence in disappearance of Giovanni Gonzalez:

Unfortunately, police have come up empty so far in their search for Giovanni Gonzalez. Police say that they are scaling back on the physical search for Giovanni and are refocusing on the evidence they have so far.

Between this and the search of the cemetery, I don’t have high hopes at this point.

However, Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett says that he is optimistic that Giovanni is still alive. He also announced that lab results from the bloody mop are back but he couldn’t comment on the results at this time.

  • Cemetery searched for Giovanni Gonzalez

Lynn’s Pine Grove Cemetery targeted in search for missing boy:

Yesterday Mass. State Police and police from Lynn, Mass. scoured Pine Grove Cemetery looking for missing 5-year-old Giovanni Gonzalez.

Cadaver dogs were used but police insist that this was a search and rescue mission and not a recovery mission.

Giovanni’s story may even be featured on America’s Most Wanted this week.

Mom Makes Plea For 5-Year-Old’s Safe Return:

With all the hoopla surrounding the Caylee Anthony story stories like this are getting swept under the rug. So effective immediately I am imposing a Casey Anthony embargo on this site. There are many fine blogs on the Coalition of Crime Bloggers blogroll who are covering the story. If you wish to receive more information about the Casey Anthony please visit them.

5-year-old Giovanni Gonzalez was reported missing by his mother, 22-year-old Daisy Colon of East Boston, on Monday night. Ms. Colon had dropped Giovanni off with his father, 36-year-old Ernesto Gonzalez of Lynn, Mass. Giovanni’s parents have been involved with a custody dispute. Gonzales did not return Giovanni at the end of his visitation.

Gonzalez was arrested Monday and ordered held on $500,000 cash bail following his arraignment in Lynn District Court. Officials were concerned because Gonzalez had a cut on his left finger, and he gave conflicting accounts of how the injury happened, the Lynn Daily Item reported.

And Giovanni is nowhere to be found…

Giovanni weighs approximately 40 pounds and is 49 inches tall with black hair and brown eyes. When last seen, he was wearing blue denim jeans, a red T-shirt, a silver braided chain and black Spiderman sandals. He was carrying a black backpack that had the Transformers robot characters on it. It contained some of his clothes and toys.

He has a faded skin pigmentation mark on the lower right side of his chest and a small scar above his eyebrow.

Anyone with information about the child’s disappearance or whereabouts is asked to call 911 or Lynn Police at 781-595-2000.

I’ll be doing updates on this story as details become available and as time allows.
