  • Lindsay family hires famous attorney

Gloria Allred to represent videotaped beating victim:

From the ‘Nothing good can come of this’ department comes the latest about beating victim Victoria Lindsay.

Her parents have allegedly hired famed feminist attorney Gloria Allred.

I commend Ms. Allred for taking this case because I am sure she is doing it pro-bono. However, I’m leery of attorneys with an obvious agenda. For everyone’s sake, I hope Ms. Allred puts her client’s well-being ahead of her agenda.

  • More Dr. Phil fallout

Report: Dr. Phil Show Blames Low-Level Staffer for Bailing Out YouTube Teen:

Dr. Phil and his show keep digging themselves into a deeper hole.

They’re putting all the blame on an unnamed low-level staff member for bailing out Mercades Nichols…

“In this case, certain staff members went beyond our guidelines [re: the bail being paid]. These staff members have been spoken to and our policies reiterated. In addition, we have decided not to go forward with the story as our guidelines have been compromised,” the statement read.

Among the skeptics, outside of myself, is TMZ, the infamous gossip website.

The show issued a statement saying certain staff members “went beyond their guidelines,” but according to TMZ, the word at Paramount is that it would be impossible for the producer to pay the $3,300 for the bail and put up $33,000 in collateral without the full knowledge and approval of higher-ups on the show.

Does anyone actually believe Dr. Phil in this case? I think what little credibility he had has taken a big hit. She’d be better off if he just came clean.

  • Beating vctim’s family says there’s no official support site

Beating victim’s family fears fake web pages:

The family of Victoria Lindsay is saying that there is no official support page and that there are dozens of fakes popping up. Some are even asking for financial support.

They say they don’t want to give the impression that Victoria doesn’t need support, but sending messages, or even financial help to the wrong places is no help at all.

“I feel like she is being victimized again, but in a different way,” her stepmom Talisa Lindsay told FOX 13 at her home on Sunday.

Remember kids, not everything on the internet is true.

  • Dr. Phil backpedals

Dr. Phil Show Bails Out Teen Charged in Vicious YouTube Attack:

The Dr. Phil show is now stating that the representative that bailed out Mercades Nichols violated the show’s rules and they will not be going forward with that story.

“In this case, certain staff members went beyond our guidelines (re the bail being paid). These staff members have been spoken to and our policies reiterated. In addition, we have decided not to go forward with the story as our guidelines have been compromised,” the statement read.

Uh-huh. Sure. I’m sure it had nothing to do with the court of public opinion coming down on them like a ton of bricks.

  • Did Dr. Phil bail out beating suspect?

REPORT: Doctor Phil paid to get YouTube beating suspect out of jail:

I don’t know how true this story is but at least one Florida news outlet is reporting that Dr. Phil paid the bail of Mercades Nichols. Nichols is the alleged ringleader in the recorded beating of Victoria Lindsay. Allegedly Dr. Phil’s people tried to get other reporters to leave the jail as Nichols was his exclusive.

If any of this story is true then Dr. Phil should be run off TV especially if he’s paying her. Crime isn’t supposed to pay.

  • Bail set for beating suspects

Bail set for teens in YouTube beating:

The suspects in the recorded beating of Victoria Lindsay have had their bail set at $30,000 each. 18-year-old Stephen Schumaker is already out on bail.

I guess the rest of them are trying to take out mortgages on their double wides.

    Here are the bail conditions

Bail conditions for the teenagers forbid the six girls from seeing each other or contacting one another in any way. They are also not allowed to contact the victim, Victoria Lindsay, 16, or the victim’s family. The girls are home arrested, being allowed to leave their homes only to come in court. Visiting Mulberry High School, as well as the Wing House restaurant in Lakeland, where Victoria has worked in the past month is also forbidden.

  • Vigilantes and Clowns

Contact Information Posted In ‘Cheerleader’ Beating, Families Seek Protection:

There’s a lot of dumbassery to go around in this article.

First, are the internet tough guy vigilantes who thought it was a great idea to post the names and phone numbers of the suspects in the Victoria Lindsay beating to YouTube. To whoever posted the video and the subsequent yahoos who harassed their families, you need to grow up. You’ve stooped to their level. And in the meantime, a family who had nothing to do with was harassed in the process. Did it accomplish anything except feeding your basement dwelling internet tough guy ego? That has probably made things worse. It could possibly make a jury more sympathetic to the suspects rather than the victim. So, way to go assclowns.

Speaking of assclowns let’s go to one Stephen Schumaker. He’s the only suspect released on bail and acted as one of the lookouts. He doesn’t see what the big deal is…

Schumaker, the only one of the eight arrested to be released from jail, told Local 6 that his family is receiving death threats from all over the United States.

“I don’t see why I’m even in this whole situation,” Schumaker said in an interview for Local 6.

What are you, stupid? You took an active part in a savage beating. It was your job to make sure that no one interrupted it. As the only ‘adult’ in the group, you should have known better but obviously, your mentality betrays your adult status.

  • Beating suspects charged as adults

Report: Teens Behind Florida YouTube Attack to Be Charged as Adults:

All 7 suspects in the beating of Veronica Lindsay who are juveniles will be tried as adults.

Mercades Nichols, 17, Brittini Hardcastle, 17, and Britney Mayes, 17, face charges of felonious battery, false imprisonment and kidnapping in connection with the attack. Cara Murphy, 16, Kayla Hassell, 15, April Cooper, 14, Zachary Ashley, 17, and Stephen Schumaker, 18, face charges of felonious battery and false imprisonment.

Since Schumaker is 18 it goes without saying that he’ll be charged as an adult.

The article states that three of them have been charged with tampering with a witness but it doesn’t say which 3.

Hopefully, this means that it’s gone beyond ‘a slap on the wrist’.

  • Sheriff wants beating teens tried as adults

Teens In Taped Beating Could Be Charged As Adults:

Speaking of Sheriff Grady Judd he wants all 8 suspects in the beating of Victoria Lindsay tried as adults.

Whether or not that actually happens I guess we won’t hear about it since a gag order has been issued.
