Oregon male used craigslist to lure girls

Police: Man Used Craigslist To Lure Girls:

52-year-old Ronald Leistiko of Tigard, Oregon is under arrest for a slew of charges all stemming from accounts that say he used craigslist to lure girls and women, some as young as 14, to his home, in some cases, assaulting them.

Leistiko was booked into the Washington County Jail on a laundry list of charges. He could be charged with rape, kidnap, prostitution, sex abuse, menacing, attempted rape, strangulation and unlawful sexual penetration.

Investigators believe there may be other unreported incidents that have happened at Leistiko’s home.

Anyone with information is asked to call 503-823-0697, 503-823-0424 or 503-718-2576.

Be vigilant ladies. I would not recommend using craigslist for dates. This is not the first story I’ve posted about someone using craigslist to lure someone to their home.

  • Andre Johnson sentenced

    Andre Johnson sentenced

Man guilty of sex with teen met on MySpace loses bid for lenience in Lake County court:

Back in July, I posted about Andre Johnson. He’s a 30-year-old man from Ohio that was on parole for the rape of a 14-year-old girl when he raped another 14-year-old girl. Johnson had met his most recent victim through the girl’s sister but maintained a relationship with her on MySpace.

Now he’s been sentenced. He has to serve out the remainder of his original sentence, and a judge tacked 8 years on to that for his most recent crime.

During Thursday’s hearing, Johnson asked the judge to give him a break. Judge Lucci told Johnson he had already been given that chance when he was paroled on the first crime.

I love how multiple offenders think they deserve a break.

Anyway, Johnson will also be a lifelong registered sex offender.

  • Not bullying but parenting

    Not bullying but parenting

Commentary – It isn’t bullying, stupid, it’s the parenting:

Here we have another editorial about school shooters and would be shooters that pretty much says the same thing that I’ve been saying for years. The post mainly focuses on would be shooter Dillon Cossey

His parents supplied him with real weapons — though no ammo — to match his fantasies: His bedroom contained a .9 mm semiautomatic rifle, homemade grenades, knives and swords. He also had a swastika flag, neo-Nazi literature and a Columbine massacre video.

Classmates would have rejected Cossey, if he’d stayed in school. They would have told Dillon he’s crazy, which would have been useful feedback. Instead, he was nurtured, accepted and loved by the world’s dopiest parents.

While I fully support homeschooling, not every parent is capable of carrying it out. Such is the case of the Cosseys.

And as I’ve been saying for many years, lax parenting is the biggest cause of school shootings and not bullying. When parents teach their kids about some fantasy world where life is fair and allow their kids to continue to have obsessions with other killers and allow it to remain unchecked, these shootings will keep happening.

Trial Date Set in Minnesota Craigslist Murder:

A trial date of November 27th has been set for Michael John Anderson. 19-year-old Anderson is accused of luring Katherine Ann Olson to her death by posting a phony nannying job ad on craigslist then shooting her when she responded to the ad.

  • Megan Meier’s tormentors named

    Megan Meier’s tormentors named

Blog Readers Out Anonymous Adults that Newspaper Refused to Identify:

According to this article from Wired, readers of some blogs, not this one, that read the story about Megan Meier have published the names of those responsible for her suicide.

The St. Charles Journal wrote in the story that it decided not to name the woman and the other adult involved in the incident out of concern for the woman’s own teenage daughter. The two adults haven’t been charged with any crime.

But readers of various blogs that posted the story were furious with the paper’s decision. By matching certain details in the article with property records, they found the name and address of a woman who they believe created the Josh Evans persona, and published her details online.

Was the paper right to protect the woman’s identity? Were the bloggers right to publish a name and address that may or may not be correct?

Even though I think the people involved with Megan’s death are scumbags and I hope eventually they are prosecuted and sent away for a long time, this is nothing more than a blatant case of vigilantism. I also want to add that I will not post their names here.

Let the law do its job, people. By publishing their names, you’re jeopardizing the chances of justice being served.

  • Charges possible but not likely in MySpace suicide

Charges possible but not likely in MySpace suicide

    Prosecutor To Review MySpace Suicide:

The St. Charles, Missouri County Prosecutor, Jack Banas, is saying that there may be criminal charges for the MySpace suicide death of Megan Meier, but he also says it’s unlikely.

The county prosecutor says he never saw the complete case file. He doesn’t want to give anyone false hope, but he says it’s not yet case closed.

“Me personally, I’ve never seen anything on this case,” says St. Charles County Prosecutor Jack Banas. He says from what he’s heard he knows hearts are broken, but he doesn’t believe laws were.

Banas never saw the report but wants to see all the evidence now, but based on what he’s heard he believes what happened was cruel, but not criminal.

I’m not holding my breath over this one, but I pray to God that Prosecutor Banas can find something to charge the people responsible for Megan Meier’s death.

  • Katherine Lester on Dr. Phil

    Katherine Lester on Dr. Phil

MySpace teen on Dr. Phil show:

It seems that our favorite word traveling runaway MySpace teen is back in the news.

Katherine Lester will be on Dr. Phil today and tomorrow to discuss her trials and tribulations. I thought this might set a bad example to teens willing to run away for some MySpace guy, but Dr. Phil seems to have his act together this time…

The second segment also will include an interview with Betty Mahmoody, an American citizen who moved to Iran with her husband and fled the country after he and his family became violently controlling. Mahmoody’s story became the 1991 Sally Field film “Not Without My Daughter.”

I, of course, will not be watching because personally, Dr. Phil disgusts me.

However, the article seems to reveal that Lester is back in The States.

The series will have a third part that will air in a couple of weeks centering around Lester’s decision to come back to Michigan, said Wade Simpson, a segment producer with the program.

“We fully anticipated her getting back on the plane at the end of the second episode,” he said. “And then she said no, so we kept tracking it to see what would happen.”

Lester returned to Michigan about a week and a half ago, Simpson said.

    The soap opera continues.

Belch has more on this here.

  • Girl commits suicide over MySpace hoax

Girl commits suicide over MySpace hoax

‘My Space’ hoax ends with suicide of Dardenne Prairie teen:

This one is so heart-wrenching as a parent that I’m at a loss for words.

Megan Meier was a 13-year-old girl who had some problems, but things were turning around for her. That was until she got a friend request from someone claiming to be, in Megan’s words, a hot 16-year-old boy by the name of Josh.

The two remained friends on MySpace for a while, then all of a sudden, Josh started sending disparaging messages to Megan. Comments like “I don’t know if I want to be friends with you anymore because I’ve heard that you are not very nice to your friends.”

Then MySpace bulletins started circulating about her that said things like, “Megan Meier is a slut. Megan Meier is fat.”

It bothered her so much that Megan Meier took her own life.

That’s not even the worst part.

Worst Part #1: Josh never existed and this was all done by adults.

Worst Part #2: No criminal charges are being filed.

As usual, I’m not paying justice to the story. Please go and read the entire article.

And to the people who did this to Megan Meier, I’ll just leave you with that I hope you rot in hell.

Thanks to Belch for the link.

Now I’m going to go listen to the song Danny Boy to cheer myself up.

  • California craigslist rapist

    California craigslist rapist

    Police seek rape clues:

Let me preface this by saying that this was sent to me by a professional escort.

Anaheim police arrested Waymon Livingston, 24, of Stanton, charging him with murder and raping three women.

The murder charge includes a special circumstance for rape, authorities said.

Authorities believe he could be connected to other assaults and are appealing to the public to step forward with information.

One woman was raped Aug. 21, 2005 in an Anaheim parking lot, police said. Then another woman was raped in a Stanton hotel room Oct. 25, 2006. The Costa Mesa assault happened May 7, according to authorities.

Livingston contacted a masseuse through Craigslist for a private session at the Best Western on Newport Boulevard, Costa Mesa Sgt. Bryan Glass said. During the session, Livingston propositioned the woman for sex and she refused.

Livingston allegedly strangled the woman until she passed out, Glass said. When she woke up hours later she went to Fountain Valley Hospital, Glass said.

“We collected DNA from her person and crime scene and turned it into the crime lab,” but investigators didn’t make the connection until months later, Glass said.

After Livingston was arrested in connection with the three rapes, investigators were able to link him to the Sept. 9 slaying in Anaheim of Melissa Ann Gonzalez, 21, of Sacramento, through DNA evidence, authorities said.

Like I’ve pointed out before, there’s immense danger lurking on both sides of the craigslist erotic services section.

Let me wrap this up with what the escort sent me in her e-mail.

    Hi,

i thought you might be interested in this link for your blog. Recently apprehended, this guy was targeting working girls in Orange County California and one of his methods in finding them was though craigslist (he had others).

this guy attacked many other girls who are not listed in the article and it personally touched my life.

    Stay safe out there, ladies.

  • Auvinen’s girlfriend responds

    Auvinen’s girlfriend responds

    Ex defends school killer online:

The former ‘girlfriend’ of Pekka-Eric Auvinen has spoken out online about the tragedy in Finland. I use the quotes because she lives in Australia, which, the last time I checked wasn’t next door to Finland.

She posted a video on YouTube in defense of Auvinen and actually belays a certain myth.

The statement consists of a video entitled “Pekka”, with a metal soundtrack and scrolling text.

“The reason I have not talked to the press and the rest of you is not because I want to wash my hands of it,” she says.

“It is because there is no point”

Ms Scheel then launches into her defence of Auvinen.

“First, he was not a Nazi. He hated Nazism.”

“Second, he was not a psychopath or a sociopath. He felt love, he felt guilt, he felt fear.”

“Third, he was not bullied or picked on, not by you or people in his life.”

In the video, Ms Scheel refutes the notion that online messages would cause him to go on a shooting spree, and admits that Auvinen was often the initiator of online arguments.

Ms Scheel also states that Auvinen was not bullied by his classmates, but “had he been, he would have reacted to it instantly”.

So she claims Auvinen was not bullied. Even if he was, her second statement that Auvinen wasn’t a psychopath is incorrect. I would even go as far as to say that he was a megalomaniacal psychopath, considering he thought he was better than the rest of the world.
