  • Zarate’s lawyer plays the race card

Zarate’s lawyer wants Randolph murder trial moved out of Morris County:

The lawyer for accused killer and mutilator Jonathan Zarate wants the trial moved out of Morris County. Defense lawyer, and another comedian, Richard S. Mazawey, wants the trial move because of alleged anti-Hispanic sentiment in the county along with pre-trial publicity.

I wouldn’t call it anti-Hispanic sentiment. I’d call it anti-scumbag who killed 16-year-old Jennifer Parks, dismembered her body and tried to dump it in the Passaic River sentiment.

Just another act of desperation and another delay from another lawyer who knows that Zarate is a lost cause.

It’s been 3-years already since Jennifer’s death. Justice has long been overdue.

Thanks to Keb for the tip.

  • Search is on for Gagnon’s computer

Texas Search in Brooke Bennett Murder:

Federal Agents in Texas are scouring a landfill looking for the computer of Ray Gagnon. As you know Ray Gagnon is the former stepfather of Brooke Bennett and a possible accomplice in her disappearance. before his arrest, he instructed his roommate to dispose of a computer that allegedly contained child porn.

I wonder if it also holds any evidence of Brooke’s disappearance or murder.

  • AZ man arrested for trying to have sex with teen

Man accused of sex with teen he met on MySpace:

23-year-old Justin Allen Lee of Avondale, AZ was arrested for driving to Chandler, AZ to have sex with a 15-year-old girl he met over MySpace. Lee was discovered by the girl’s father.

Lee is using the ‘I thought she was 17’ defense even though according to the article it states her MySpace stated her correct age. Age of consent in Arizona is 18.

You also have to read how hilarious Lee’s apprehension was.

In Avondale, where he lives with his parents, Lee was already on probation for armed robbery and was booked through the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. It sucks to be him. Maricopa County is where Sheriff Joe is. I reckon he probably don’t take too kindly to perverts like this one.

  • Vermont released Jacques early

State wanted suspect’s early probation release:

The state government of Vermont is really earning their reputation as being child molester friendly.

It was released yesterday that the Department of Corrections in Vermont recommended an early release for Michael Jacques. The same Michael Jacques who in 1993 kidnapped and sexually assaulted an underage girl. The same Michael Jacques who is Brooke Bennett’s uncle and the prime suspect in her disappearance.

Judge Amy Davenport approved the early release for Jacques in 2006, seven years early.

Now I know hindsight is 20/20 and all that but you would think that any state government in this country would want a violent sex offender like Jacques to serve out his entire sentence.

  • Is Lee Billi incompetent?

Court considers plot defendant’s mental health:

The world’s oldest mutant, 33-year-old Lee Billi of Ohio, is allegedly having defendant competency issues. That means that Billi may not be ruled mentally competent enough to help his own defense.

If you’ll recall Billi was involved in an interstate plot to commit school shootings with an Indiana teen at Penn High School. When investigators combed through his computer they also found an alleged cache of child porn.

If he’s mentally incompetent than lock him in a cell and tell him it’s camp.

  • Kazmierczak was a sick mutant

Magazine reveals new details about NIU shooter:

Talk about dropping the other shoe. For months we heard nothing about NIU gunman Stephen Kazmierczak or what his motive was. Now Esquire magazine is saying something that should not surprise me in the least but yet it does.

I originally thought that Kazmierczak was just a victim of an undiagnosed mental problem but as it turns out he was something much more familiar.

According to Esquire Magazine while Kazmierczak did suffer from mental illness it also turns out that he was nothing more than a copycat of Virginia Tech shooter Cho Seung-Hui.

The story includes Kazmierczak’s fascination, chilling in retrospect, with Seung-Hui Cho, the Virginia Tech student who shot and killed 32 people before killing himself in April 2007.

“He was interested in what was going on in the mind of Cho, and why it was so successful, and how someone could do it, how they could pull it off,”‘ reporter David Vann writes, quoting a friend he identifies only as Kevin.

And his mental health history wasn’t exactly unknown either. Kazmierczak was drummed out of the Army after they discovered that he lied on his application about mental history. He held back about his history of suicide attempts, psychotic episodes, and hallucinations.

Just further proof that as a society we’re more concerned with the rights of the dangerously crazy than we are with the welfare of others.

  • Oregon MySpace rape

Man accused of raping 13-year-old he met on MySpace:

28-year-old Scott Knight of Aurora, Oregon has been arrested on charges that he raped a 13-year-old girl he met through MySpace.

Not only is he trying the ‘she said she was 18 defense’ but his mommy is defending him in the press.

“That’s not Scott, Scott may do things, but this is not Scott. He met this girl on a Web site, it happened to be a Web site that only 18-year-olds can go on, He doesn’t understand and I don’t understand. He doesn’t do that,” said Knight’s mother, Janice Abraham.

Granted that a 13-year-old is not supposed to be on MySpace but it’s not a site for 18-year-olds. According to MySpace’s terms of service, you can be as young as 14 to sign up for MySpace.

Then Knight’s sister plays a little ‘blame the victim’ game…

“She set him up and it’s not right. She should be under house arrest or something, she should be stopped,” added Knight’s sister, Angelica White.

Ah Personal Responsibility, we hardly knew ye.

Knight is facing charges of rape, kidnapping, and child sex abuse. Another suspect may be involved as well.

Knight also has a felony theft warrant in another county.

  • Dillon Cossey’s mom to undergo psych exam

Mother of attack plot teen to be evaluated:

The Mother of Dillon Cossey, Michele Cossey and the woman who supplied him with the guns, has been court ordered to undergo a psych eval. Michele Cossey’s attorney declined to say the reason he requested the evaluation. The prosecutors did not object to the defense’s request.

    Personally, I don’t think she’s crazy, she’s just a bad parent.

  • Schallenberger trial delayed

Judge delays SC teen’s trial on explosives charges:

The trial for Ryan Schallenberger has been delayed because his attorneys have requested more time to prepare for trial.

Schallenberger was the teen who ordered ammonium nitrate through the mail in order to blow up Chesterfield High school in South Carolina.

  • Commentary: Don’t sanitize Helms’ racist past

    Link

So CNN correspondent Roland S. Martin has a problem with Jesse Helms and Strom Thurmond because they were segregationists. I’m not big fans of them either but let’s not forget the fact that Thurmond renounced his segregationist ways later in life and had an obvious touch of jungle fever.

But let me pose a question to progressives out there. Why do Helms and Thurmond get labeled as racists but Sen. Robert Byrd of WV gets a pass when he was in the Ku Klux Klan. You don’t join the Klan because you look good in white. Is it because he has a D next to his name? Byrd was a segregationist too yet I haven’t seen any black reporters labeling him as a racist.
