  • Md. suspect charged with carjacking

Man, 18, in firearms case faces carjacking charge:

The kid from Bethesda, Maryland who may or may not have been trying to shoot his teachers is now accused of another crime, carjacking.

Colin McKenzie-Gude is alleged to have carjacked a 78-year-old man at the mall last week.

According to this article, McKenzie-Gude carjacked the man on the same day police tried to question him about the plot. His lawyer states this was not an attempt to flee. Uh-huh. Right.

Anyway, there’s also a dispute of when the crime for the explosives charge happened. The other suspect, the unnamed 17-year-old, has changed his story saying they detonated the explosives in November not July. If that is true McKenzie-Gude could be charged as a juvenile because that would have made him 17 at the time.

Accused teen had fake CIA ID, map of motorcade :

McKenzie-Gude also had ‘forged’ CIA identification and another fake ID that said he was Michael Landry, a U.S. contractor with protections from the Geneva Conventions.

So now he’s now probably looking at federal charges too.

  • Possible plot in Maryland

Teen in Gun Raid Had Teacher List:

What do you get when you take a cache of illegally purchased guns, add some explosive devices and throw in a list of teachers’ names and addresses? You get 18-year-old Colin McKenzie-Gude of Bethesda, Maryland.

It’s unknown yet if this was some kind of murder or school shooting plot. However, McKenzie-Gude’s cache consisted of weapons that were bought by his father for him that are illegal for someone under 21 to own under Maryland law. His father, 62-year-old Joseph L. Gude, was also arrested for buying his son the illegal weapons.

What muddles things up is that McKenzie-Gude was on the rifle team for St. John’s College High School, a private school in Washington, D.C. The addresses for the teachers were all from St. John’s.

Then there are the bomb-making materials for which a second teen was also arrested. The second teen is an unnamed 17-year-old from Gaithersburg, MD. It’s alleged that the 17-year-old and McKenzie-Gude detonated homemade explosive devices in the woods.

And in case you were wondering how much explosives were found…

Detectives also recovered 50 pounds of chemicals, several gallons of liquid material and components that can be used to make homemade explosives, according to the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service.

Too many coincidences if you ask me.

I’ll bring more to you as details become available and as time permits.

  • E.O. Green shooter to be tried as adult

Teen accused of shooting gay classmate to be tried as an adult:

14-year-old Brandon McInerney will be tried as an adult in the shooting death of 15-year-old Lawrence King at E.O. Green Junior High School.

King was an openly gay student who got back at the bullying from McInerney by mockingly flirting with him.

27 LGBT activist groups had requested that McInerney not be tied as an adult.

McInerney faces life in prison if convicted.

  • SD man accused of raping 15-year-old

Man Accused Of Raping Teen Met On MySpace:

23-year-old Nate Rinken of Sioux Falls, South Dakota is accused of raping a 15-year-old girl that he met on MySpace.

According to court papers, the 15-year-old victim says in the months after meeting Rinken online, she met up with him in person three or four times. The last meeting, in May, began with Rinken picking her up from work and taking her back to his house .

While talking in his bedroom, she says Rinken starting kissing her. She pulled away and told him to stop. She says he pulled her clothes off and began to rape her as she shook her head and said “no.”

According to police Rinken admits having sex with the girl. Age of consent in SD is 16.

Now I know we’re going to hear the usual excuses. “What kind of girl is she?” “Where were her parents?” etc. To you, I say this. If a 23-year-old guy wants to stay out of trouble he shouldn’t meet with a 15-year-old he met online.

Thanks to Gage for the tip.

  • Trench on Investigation Discovery about craigslist rapists

The Craigslist Rapist : Guest Blog by Trench Reynolds:

This is a piece I did for the Investigation Discovery blog The Criminal Report Daily that’s run by David Lohr. It focuses on the craigslist rapist Mark Antonio Humphries.

UPDATE 12/21/2015: My piece was pulled from ID some years ago in what I’m sure was a housekeeping move however thanks to Archive.org I can bring it to you now.

    Investigation-Discovery-logo

I’m sure most of you are familiar with the Website Craigslist. In case you’re not, it’s a massive online classifieds site that has regional sites in most of the United States and major cities around the world. It was started in 1995, in San Francisco, California, by Craig Newmark and was originally intended as a personal site for him and his friends to communicate. Over a decade later, it’s a multi-million dollar business.

You can get just about anything you want on Craigslist – furniture, jobs, dates, even concert tickets; however, Mark Antonio Humphries was looking for something a little different on Craigslist – Humphries was looking for victims.

Before we get to Humphries, let me tell you about the other things you can get on Craigslist.

Craigslist has a section called “erotic services”. This is where the ads for “escort services” and “massages” reside. In other words, it’s where Craigslist allows anyone to post ads for prostitution.

Humphries, of Prince Georges County, Maryland, picked his victims from the erotic services section. Humphries was otherwise known as the “Craigslist Rapist”. From October 2007 through July 2008 Humphries raped nine women that he met through Craigslist. The women were either escorts or were looking for one night stands. Humphries would set up the meetings at empty apartments or motel rooms.

Humphries slipped through the grasp of police more than once and at one point he even went to the police himself, to fish for information.

On July 23, police finally caught up with Humphries at an apartment in Hyattsville, Maryland. After police evacuated the building, Humphries shot himself in the head. He died later that night.

Humphries may go down in infamy as “the” Craigslist rapist since he struck in an area near media-centric Washington, D.C.; however, he is not the only one.

In DeKalb County, Georgia, 18-year-old Allen Jamar McDowell was arrested for the rape of two women he met through Craigslist. McDowell is also HIV positive.

In Tigard, Oregon, 52-year-old Ronald M. Leistiko was arrested for luring several women to his home through Craigslist and raping them.

In California, 24-year-old Waymon Livingston was arrested for raping a masseuse he contacted through Craigslist. The DNA from the rape linked him to a murder for which he is now facing life without parole.

Rape is not the only crime being committed through Craigslist. 19-year-old college student Donna Jou disappeared after leaving on a date with a man she met on Craigslist and 22-year-old nanny Katherine Ann Olson was killed after answering an employment ad. Her killer took out the ad allegedly just so he could kill someone.

Craigslist is also a hive for various scammers, fences, and thieves. Not that these crimes haven’t been occurring since the dawn of the Internet, but I’ve never heard of so much crime being connected to one Website.

  • PA AG does things the right way

MySpace Helps AG Crackdown On Sex Offenders:

Pennsylvania Attorney General Tom Corbett is in the process of possibly cracking down on 185 Pa. sex offenders that are on MySpace.

What is AG Corbett doing differently than most of the AG’s I’ve written about? He’s not grandstanding and he’s not putting the blame to MySpace to garner votes. (Unlike AG’s Blumenthal, Cuomo, and Cooper.)

“So we were able to discover who they were – at least MySpace was. Our concern is that there’s other people who are registered sex offenders that probably have MySpace accounts that there’s no way if they use an alias that we’re going to discover.”

Wow, he even addresses the issue of sex offenders using aliases on MySpace and he does it realistically.

Once the records from MySpace have been reviewed the AG’s office will be forwarding the information to the sex offenders’ parole officers.

Other AG’s should take note that this is how to get things done instead of pandering to clueless soccer moms.

Thanks to Gage for the tip.

  • Pieces of the puzzle – The latest on Caylee Marie Anthony

Cindy Anthony and attorney Jose Baez both appeared on the Today Show yesterday. Nothing of any substance was said.

Casey Anthony has requested that only her Mom, Dad, and brother may visit her in jail. No reason was given for the request. The Anthony family has also met with the FBI. Casey’s parents had a 45-minute meeting with her which gives another quote from Cindy Anthony…

“I think I’ve put almost everything together last night,” Cindy Anthony said. “The pieces of the puzzle are starting to come together.”

Except that Mrs. Anthony is working on an entirely different puzzle than the rest of us.

Casey Anthony could be let out of jail in the next few weeks if she doesn’t raise the money for her bond.

Orange County Sheriff’s are hoping to have the DNA results back soon of the hair and fluid found in the trunk of the Casey Anthony was driving that smelled of decomposition. Investigators are also going through Casey’s credit card and phone records to trace her steps during the time that Caylee has been missing.

David Lohr of Investigation Discovery has a post up with criminal profiler Dr. Deborah Schurman-Kauflin who describes Casey Anthony as a ‘dark damsel’. She gives a great quote which sums up this case in a nutshell.

“The hallmark of a good predator is that she constantly tells lies. If you clutter the truth with enough of what’s false, no one can tell what is real,”

Like I said yesterday we all had the friend that lied all the time and lied so much they started believing their own lies.

Thanks to Laura for that link.

CSI’s removed two bags of evidence from the Anthony home that are believed to contain Casey Anthony’s clothes.

  • Eric Hainstock still blaming everyone else

    Eric Hainstock: Free at last:

This is an article from the alternative weekly in Wisconsin called Isthmus. In it are a series of letters that Eric Hainstock wrote to the publication. For those of you who may not remember Hainstock was 15 when he shot and killed Principal John Klang of the Weston Schools. Hainstock was tried as an adult and sentenced to life in prison with a possibility of parole in 2037.

In his letters Hainstock sort of takes responsibility for his actions…

Hainstock says some people in prison have told him he’s “cool” for having killed his principal. He corrects them: “No, I’m not. I took a life. He can’t go to his daughter’s wedding. He can’t walk her down the aisle.”

But for most of the article, as usual, he blames his situation on everyone but himself…

“When I was 15 years old I shot my high school principal. I never meant for this to happen. He grabbed me from behind and I got scared. I was already pretty stressed, so that freaked me out even more. Please don’t get me wrong, I am not blaming Mr. Klang for grabbing me. But I am blaming him, the teachers, social services and the school as a whole for never listening to me…. No one ever listened.”

The article goes on about how much he learned in prison but I guess he still hasn’t learned that everyone is responsible for their own actions. The article also says that he likes prison more compared to his old life. I’m glad that was arranged for him.

  • AZ family taken by scammers

Family Of Nine Loses Savings Because Of Craigslist Rental Scam:

Another family has been taken by the craigslist rental scam. A family from Peoria, Arizona was new to the area and found a rental home on craigslist that was too good to be true. As expected it was too good to be true.

They met a couple who called themselves Jim and Jaime Williams who they forked over $1500 to.

Then when the family tried to move in they met the actual owner. Luckily the real owners worked something out with the family to let them stay there.

As far as the “Williamses” go…

Peoria Arizona police are asking for the public’s help in looking for the scam artists responsible. They are described as “a short heavyset woman and a man with crooked teeth and a heart tattooed on one hand. They were last seen driving a white Chevy Blazer.”

The article recommends checking with the county first to see who actually owns a rental property.

  • Surrounded by drama – The latest on the disappearance of Caylee Marie

Family Of Missing Girl’s Mom Meets With Investigators For 6 Hours:

Casey Anthony’s parents met with investigators for six hours telling the investigators what Casey had told them. The always talkative Cindy Anthony wouldn’t comment on what she talked to investigators about but as usual, she had something to say to reporters…

“My daughter may have some mistruths out there or half-truths, but she is not a murderer. You all are sucking the life right out of me every day, having to remind everybody that this is what it’s all about,” Cindy Anthony said while holding a flier of Caylee.

I’m not saying that Cindy Anthony has committed any crime but she sure does act like it by blaming everyone but her own daughter.

There was also another phone call between Casey Anthony and her brother Lee released but I didn’t find it interesting at all.

The article also states that People Magazine is doing a story about Casey Anthony and spoke to some of her friends…

In the article, friends said, “She would complain about her mother and how she was trying to run her life. But then a few days later, she’d say how much she loved her mother and father.”

A friend who has known Anthony since middle school describes her as “immature and strange at times.”

The friend also said she is always surrounded by drama, according to the article.

I think we all know someone like that. They’re usually just selfish at heart but it manifests itself in some of the most destructive ways possible.
