  • Michael Jacques gets hot shot legal team

    Jacques Assigned More Lawyers:

The accused kidnapper and possible killer of Brooke Bennett has been assigned some more legal assistance. Michael Jacques will be receiving legal counsel from a husband and wife team of lawyers from New Jersey. It’s alleged that none of their clients have ever been put to death.

If they usually practice in New Jersey that’s no big feat. Jersey hasn’t executed anyone since before I was born and they did away with the death penalty this year.

So will the prosecution now get a legal team that has had everyone they’ve prosecuted executed? I hope so. If Jacques is guilty of the crimes he’s accused of he needs to be put down like a dog.

Vermont does not have the death penalty but Jacques is more than likely looking at federal charges.

  • Mitchell Johnson to be sentenced in September

Johnson faces Sept. 4 sentencing for weapon charge:

Jonesboro gunman Mitchell Johnson will be sentenced on federal weapons charges stemming from his Jan. 1st, 2007 arrest. He was convicted this past January. He’s looking at 10 years and a $250K fine and I expect nothing but the max. He’s in jail again on theft charges for stealing a customer’s bank card from the mini-mart he worked at.

It’s his birthday today too. I hope your celly gave you a nice package.

  • Blind Driving and Mystery Phone Calls – The latest on Caylee Marie

Casey cancels jailhouse visit with parents:

Casey Anthony canceled a planned visit from her parents yesterday. That’s the second visit she’s turned down from family. On Friday she rejected a visit from her brother Lee.

Psychic-Led Team ‘Blind Driving’ Central Fla. To Find Missing Girl:

I’m sure Morbid is getting a kick out of this one.

‘Psychic Detectives’ aka bullshit artists are going to be ‘blind driving’ through central Florida looking for Caylee Marie Anthony.

“We will not even look at street names,” psychic detective Gale St. John said. “We drive and go completely on feeling instinct, chasing down what we call a person signature.”

St. John and her team arrived in Central Florida and immediately began using specially trained cadaver dogs to check areas on foot over the weekend near Lee Vista Road.

If they’re so psychic then why the hell do they need cadaver dogs?

For more on Morbid, Imp Queen, Harley Tech and myself discussing the Caylee Marie Anthony situation and psychics check out The Dreamin’ Demon podcast we did this past weekend.

Grandmother Of Caylee Anthony Says Officials Re-Examining Phone Calls:

Cindy and George Anthony met with detectives from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office today for about two hours. Do you think that the detectives rolled their eyes when they heard that Cindy Anthony was there? I know I would have at least done that.

Anyway, Cindy Anthony is disputing the allegation that the phone call where Casey heard Caylee in the background never happened.

“We discussed that with the deputies today. They’re re-looking at the phone records because that’s a misstatement,” Cindy Anthony said.

I bet Casey’s lips didn’t even move when Cindy said that. Does Cindy Anthony realize that what she’s doing is hurting her daughter more than helping? It’s like Casey Anthony is drowning and Cindy keeps throwing her an anchor.

Air samples from the death smelling car have also been sent for analysis.

Appeals court denies bond motion of missing girl’s mom:

Casey Anthony’s bond still stands at $500K. A Daytona Beach appeals court denied the appeal for reduced bond.

  • Felon accused of pimping out children

Man accused of running child prostitution scheme:

28-year-old convicted felon Aaron Pierre Brown of Hayward, California is accused of pimping out two teenage girls on craigslist. The girls had been in an L.A. area group home. Brown allegedly beat the girls and took explicit photos of them for the craigslist ads.

Yet some people who want to be able to pay for sex will argue that these two girls aren’t victims of prostitution.

  • E.O. Green shooter pleads not guilty

Teenager accused of murdering gay classmate pleads not guilty:

14-year-old Brandon McInerney pleaded not guilty this past week to the shooting death of 15-year-old Lawrence King. It’s alleged that McInerney shot and killed King at E.O. Green Junior High School because when McInerney bullied King for being gay King would mockingly flirt with McInerney.

McInerney has been charged with murder and of course, his defense attorney has a problem with that.

Yesterday his defence lawyer said the decision to try him for murder and not manslaughter was effectively a “death sentence.”

Oh you mean like the death sentence McInerney gave King for being gay?

  • Thomas White officially ruled incompetent

Judge rules teen unable to assist in own defense:

On Friday a judge made it official by ruling that Memorial Middle School gunman Thomas White is mentally incompetent to assist in his own defense.

White’s psychiatric report remains private but doctors who had previously examined him believe that he is schizophrenic.

White will now be in the custody of the Missouri Department of Mental Health. The department will report back to the court in six months.

  • New craigslist scam targets landlords

FBI Says New Craigslist Scam Preys On Landlords:

The FBI is warning about a new real estate scam on craigslist. This time instead of targeting would be renters the scam is targeting landlords.

The scam starts out in the usual way, the landlords who place craigslist ads get poorly written responses from people who claim to be doctors from overseas or some other preposterous story.

Then eventually they try to hit up the landlords for money. In the case mentioned in the article, the scammer asked for money saying he needed help getting his furniture.

This time I don’t think the scammers have thought their cunning plan all the way through. But you know eventually, they’ll hit that one person with a trusting heart and take them for all their worth.

  • Things get even stranger with the Anthonys

Casey refuses to see brother in jail:

In a somewhat interesting development, Casey Anthony refused a visit from her brother Lee today. Casey told a deputy she did not want to meet with her brother but did not give a reason.

Also, there are more details from the search warrant that I posted about yesterday.

Casey originally told police that June 9th was the last time she saw Caylee. However, when police searched her laptop they found a picture of the Anthonys with Caylee that was dated June 15th. Later the Anthonys changed their story that the 16th was the last time they saw Caylee.

Also in the search warrant was the fact that Casey Anthony led investigators on a goose chase, my words not theirs. She first sent them to an old folks home, then the Sawgrass Apartments where the mysterious baby sitter allegedly lived, and lastly to a townhome community where the baby sitter’s mother allegedly lived.

Casey tells investigators that this is where Zenaida’s mother allegedly owned a condominium and where she dropped Caylee off several times between mid 2006 to early 2007.

When police drive through the community, Casey told police she could not remember the exact house because she “stopped paying attention to it since she came so many times.”

I think it’s obvious that Casey is covering something up but with each revelation, it’s beginning to seem that the family could possibly be complicit with whatever the cover-up is.

Meanwhile, George Anthony told the media today to get off his damn lawn. Well not in those exact words but you get the drift.

  • 3 fall for Michigan job scam

At least 3 people sign up for bogus job posting on Craigslist:

3 people in Michigan have been taken by a job scam. They had provided money and personal information so the ’employer’ could do a background search. I don’t know about you but I’ve never applied for a job where I had to give the employer money for any reason.

The people were told to meet with the employer in Flint but when they showed up no one knew what they were talking about.

Which just goes to show that even the job postings on craigslist, which are paid postings, are suspect.

  • Mystery ‘baby sitter’ found

Search for Caylee: Accused” babysitter” speaks out:

Except she’s not really a baby sitter.

Investigators in the disappearance of Caylee Marie Anthony have caught up with the woman who Casey Anthony says she gave Caylee too. Casey Anthony said that she gave Caylee to ‘baby sitter’ Zenaida Gonzalez at the Sawgrass Apartments. However, Ms. Gonzalez never lived there and was only there to ask about renting an apartment there.

Could Casey have been hanging around there to try to devise an alibi? Only time will tell.
