Blumenthal Asks MySpace To Make Site Safer For Kids:

Why are most politicians so clueless?…

HARTFORD, Conn. — Attorney General Richard Blumenthal has sent MySpace.com a letter asking the company to take steps to make the site safer for children.

He is asking them to provide parents with software to block the Web site, ban kids under 16, institute new measures against pornography and take other steps to protect children from sexual predators and inappropriate material.

Has Attorney General Blumenthal thought about asking parents to keep an eye on their own damn kids? MySpace has no responsibility to pay for software for the parents of teen MySpace users.

I’m not surprised, though. An Attorney General is just another lawyer.

  • Ask Amy

    Ask Amy

Mom finds MySpace a harmful disgrace:

Check out this letter to an advice column called “Ask Amy”…

DEAR AMY: I didn’t realize the harmful nature of MySpace.com until I received an anonymous copy of my 16-year-old daughter’s MySpace page. She thought it was “just fun and games” when she posted provocative pictures on her home page. I was shocked when I read her Web space, which was tame by comparison to other kids from our community who have posted lewd pictures with profane comments for the world to see! I’ll be monitoring my daughter’s activity, if not deleting it altogether, but what about the parents who are unaware of this Web site? What has our culture degenerated to when photos of girls imitating sexual acts and wearing bras in the midst of boys are posted online for anyone to see? No wonder we are so concerned about predators. Our children are making themselves targets for anyone to exploit.

    Saddened by Complacency

Rather than give the whole answer away, I’ll just post the best part that should be common sense…

DEAR SADDENED: If your daughter is demonstrating such poor online judgment, then it’s time to take the “car keys” away until she figures out that those photos could affect her life now and haunt her well into the future.

Is that so hard for parents?

  • Mr. A Reports

    mra

Mr. A comes through again and in a huge way as he has brought us a plethora of information.

First, he brings is the story of 13 men who were arrested in a sting operation conducted by the Orange County California D.A.’s office back in February…

NEWPORT BEACH Thirteen men, ages ranging from 19 to 51, were charged after an internet sexual predator operation was conducted in cooperation with the Laguna Beach Police Department, Orange County Probation and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. A citizen group called Perverted-justice.com helped gather the internet chats from the accused sexual predators. All of these men were charged with attempted lewd acts upon a child under the age of fourteen. In addition, one was charged with possession of methamphetamine and a pipe. Another was charged with sending an explicit image over the internet. The child molestation charge carries a maximum penalty of four years in state prison.

The facts on each of these cases are similar in nature. All of them engaged in internet chats with fictitious 12 or 13-year-old girls. Some of these chats stretched for hours and hours and multiple days. The chats detailed explicit, graphic sex talks including oral sex, masturbation, and intercourse. One man sent pornographic pictures. Others exchanged regular photographs. One brought a pornographic DVD. Many of them worried about being detected by law enforcement and parents. Many of them brought sexual paraphernalia, cameras, food, flower, and alcohol. One of the men left his own 13-year-old daughter to have sex with a fictitious 13-year-old girl. These men came from all over Southern California and held many jobs, including a law enforcement officer.

And of course, Mr. A brings us the MySpace profiles of some of those arrested. Like Jimmy Miguel Varela. How prophetic that the song playing on his MySpace is “American Idiot”. Then there’s Robert Carlos Alarcia. And lastly Deep Arora.

Welcome to the Rogues Gallery boys.

    ***

Then Mr. A brings us the Google cache of the deleted MySpace profile of one “dragon7025”. Here’s what he had to say on his profile…

i am mainly attracted to boys ages 12 and under-yes i do have a small sexual attraction towards them, but i am against sex in an actual relationship with a boy-boys just need true love from the heart and thats what im here to give them-pure love like almost all parents should give their children

It is unknown if he deleted the profile himself or if it was deleted by MySpace. Either way, he is just one of many pedophiles that inhabit MySpace.

    ***

Mr. A is almost 100% positive that these are the internet habits of Bruce Chute who I told you about here.

    ***

This next gem from Mr. A would almost be funny if it wasn’t for the crimes the suspect is being accused of. His name is Keith and here is his profile. And below that is a comment from his ex-fiance…

hi some of you might know me as Keith’s fiance well that is no longer the case he has been convicted of crimes that have to do with ellicting sex from a minor. Currently we are trying to find if Keith has bothered anyone else online in similar cases in order to press charges. Currently he is serving time in the navy’s jail. Anything you say to me will not be seen directly by him so if you have any information please send me a message.
    thanks
    Patti

I feel really bad for Patti honestly. Imagine finding out that your fiance or spouse is a pedophile.

Again we salute you Mr. A for all your hard work.

  • Another Hawaii Arrest

    Another Hawaii Arrest

    Another Suspected Internet Predator Nabbed:

A third sexual predator has been arrested in Hawaii while using MySpace to select his prey…

(KHNL) — It’s another frightening reminder of the dangers lurking on the internet. A Waikiki man is in police custody, accused of sexually assaulting a girl he met on-line.

It’s at least the third time in one month that Honolulu police have made this type of arrest. That’s three different men who are suspected of turning their on-line relationships, with minors, into sexual ones.

“The fact that we have three now so far this year gives us reason to be very concerned about it,” Capt. Frank Fujii, Honolulu Police Department, said.

Officers arrested Matthew Cargill Sunday. Police say the 29-year-old posed as a 16-year-old boy on MYSPACE.COM, and arranged to meet with a 15-year-old girl.

The victim told investigators the suspect sexually assaulted her in his car, near the U.H. Manoa campus. Police recovered the suspect’s car in Waikiki.

Officers arrested Cargill for investigation of two counts of first-degree sex assault, five counts of third-degree sex assault, and one count of electronic enticement of a child.

Court records indicate Cargill has prior convictions for indecent exposure, open lewdness, and harassment by stalking.

Since he was using a fake profile, I was unable to find his MySpace profile.

This should serve as a warning to that the person that they’re chatting with on MySpace may not be who they seem, and as a warning to parents about what their children may be up to online.

  • MutantSpace

    MutantSpace

While doing some research on MySpace, I came across the MySpace of a 16-year-old girl who claims to be from “Fuck, New Jersey”.

So right off the bat, I know I’m dealing with someone who has a ton of class. What also caught my eye is that her MySpace opened up with “Bang, Bang, Your Fucked. “RIP REB and VODKA 4.20.99”.

So now it’s obvious she’s just another mutant. And then there was some more ranting on her MySpace…

For those who read how I like Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold I don’t care if you hate them because I like what I like deal with it. I do not also have to tell you why I am interested.

Again I ask do the parents not know or do they just not care?

  • Mr. A Returns

    Mr. A Returns

Mr. A comes through again. Only he’s not so mysterious anymore. Mr. A has his own site that is not unlike much this one. Where I focus on the criminals, Mr. A focuses mostly on the victims. You can visit his site here.

Anyway, Mr. A has come through big time for the long coated one again. This time he sent me a cached MySpace profile of one Stephen M. Letavec, the father of two from Elrama, Pa. who molested a 14-year-old girl in his car while in Conn.

Welcome to the Rogues Gallery Steve.

  • Hawaiian Arrests

    Hawaiian Arrests

Another isle man allegedly baits teen victim on MySpace:

Normally, I wouldn’t think that Hawaii would have sexual predators, but I guess they’re just like anywhere else, unfortunately…

Honolulu police have arrested a second man who allegedly solicited a sexual relationship with a teenager through the MySpace.com social-networking Web site.

The 33-year-old man was arrested Tuesday during an arranged meeting with a 15-year-old Aliamanu girl at the McDonald’s at 4561 Salt Lake Blvd. Detectives later booked him under suspicion of three counts of first-degree sexual assault and three counts of third-degree sexual assault.

This is the second time within a month that Honolulu police have arrested a man who allegedly used the MySpace Web site to contact a minor for sexual purposes. Joseph Colasacco, 30, was charged last month after he was found on Feb. 12 in the bed of a 14-year-old Waialae boy whom he had met on MySpace.

In the case involving the 15-year-old girl, police said the man met the girl online in November when he contacted her through her profile at MySpace, and they later exchanged cell phone numbers. Police said they met face to face for the first time at a military installation and from there began to have a consensual sexual relationship.

The suspect did not have a home of his own and arranged meetings with the victim at his friend’s home or in his friend’s vehicle unbeknownst to the girl’s parents, police said.

Police learned of the case in January when the girl was identified as an unescorted minor by security at the front gate of the military installation. She told military investigators that she was having a sexual relationship with the man, who worked until then as a civilian employee for the Department of Defense.

As a result of the investigation, the man was barred from the base, and he has since been terminated from his job.

Police said the girl had a MySpace profile that showed her picture and indicated her age. The suspect also had a MySpace profile displaying his age when he contacted the girl, according to police.

Police said the suspect served in the military in the 1990s, then stayed in Hawaii but has no residential address.

In the Feb. 12 case, according to a police affidavit, the boy told police he had met Colasacco on three previous occasions prior to the incident. On that night, the boy said Colasacco entered his house and came into his bedroom.

The 14-year-old told police he had gone to the bathroom and that when he returned, the TV and DVD player were turned on and that Colasacco had brought him two magazines depicting nude men in sexual acts and poses along with a DVD showing men engaged in sexual acts.

The boy’s father later found the suspect in his son’s bed pretending to be asleep, according to the affidavit. Colasacco was arrested and charged with five counts of first-degree sexual assault, four counts of promoting pornography for minors, three counts of first-degree electronic enticement of a minor and one count of third-degree sexual assault. His bail was set at $20,000.

With any luck, The Goddess Pele will wreak her vengeance upon the evil men.

  • Mr. A

    Mr. A

I’ve only been doing social media crimes for 11 days, and I already have an anonymous source. I call the source Mr. A. They called themselves just “A” but I thought I would name the source after the comic book character. They could be Ms. or Mrs. A for all I know. Anyway, Mr. A a left a comment about Michael Ramos. Apparently, it’s not the first time that Mikey’s been caught trying to solicit little girls.

Thank you again, Mr. A and I hope you make more contributions in the future.

  • Four time loser

    Four time loser

Man to answer sex with minor charges from four towns:

This scumbag has been arrested FOUR times in four different towns for trying to solicit young girls…

NEW BRITAIN — The Berlin man arrested for allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with an underage Bristol girl he met through a Web site is scheduled to answer to the charges in Superior Court today.

Kevin Karbownik, 21, of Berlin has been arrested in four towns since December. He was first arrested by police in that town, who alleged the man picked up the 13-year-old Bristol youth and brought her back to Berlin to have sex. At that time, Karbownik was charged with two counts of first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.

Karbownik was also arrested by both Plainville and Bristol detectives in late January and charged with a combined 10 counts each of second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor and one count of using a computer to entice a minor.

On March 1, Karbownik was arrested by Farmington police officers who, after a lengthy investigation, alleged he brought the same 13-year-old “victim” to a construction site in town to continue their sexual relationship.

According to police records, though the relationship was probably consensual, the girl is only 13 years old and by law she is too young to consent to sex. Therefore, she is viewed as a victim in these cases.

According to the investigation reports from the various police departments, Karbownik met the girl on the Internet site MySpace.com in August. Soon afterward, according to records, the two engaged in at least 20 sexual encounters until Karbownik’s first arrest in December.

I hope he gets a rather extended stay in the “pokey”.

  • New York piles on

    New York piles on

Pirro continues pressure on MySpace website:

Now the New York State attorney general candidate Jeanine Pirro is jumping on the MySpace pile…

Following two recent arrests by the FBI, New York State attorney general candidate Jeanine Pirro, the former Westchester County district attorney, Monday renewed her call to Rupert Murdoch, owner of MySpace.com, to convene a forum immediately between social networking sites owners and managers, teacher and parent representatives, and law enforcement experts to tackle the problem of child safety on Internet social networking sites.

Pirro refuted a recent statement by MySpace CEO Chris DeWolfe that “this isn’t a MySpace issue.” Pirro said, “There are special obligations imposed on anyone operating sites where teens are admitted — whether the site is a playground, recreation center or a social networking website. Once site operators know that sexual predators are congregating there to prey on children, they must act immediately to protect them.”

First off, MySpace is only a small cog of Rupert Murdoch’s giant empire. He pays people to handle situations like this. So calling him out is not going to win you any friends. Secondly, MySpace CEO Chris DeWolfe has a point, to a certain extent, that “this isn’t a MySpace issue.”

Again, it comes down to that endangered species known as personal responsibility. Now, I am far from saying that any victims deserved what happened to them. However, if parents would teach their kids about the dangers of posting personal information online and would take the time to monitor their children’s internet activity, then this wouldn’t be a problem.
