  • #36 makes it in under the wire in Nebraska

Safe Haven Child Dropped Off Before Change:

A Breeder from Yolo, County, California was able to sneak in under the buzzer and dump off a 14-year-old boy at a Kimball, Nebraska hospital. For those of you keeping score that’s 1,170 miles if traveling by car.

The Breeder who dropped him just barely made it in before the new law limiting safe haven drop offs to under 30 days old. The boy was dropped off on Friday and the new law went into effect Saturday at Midnight.

Again I say if these Breeders put half the effort into raising their kids that they did in dumping them off maybe they wouldn’t have had a problem.

  • Desperate Neb. Mom threatens kid with safe haven

Desperate Mom: I May Use Safe Haven For My Son:

I apologize for being behind on the news. This article came out Thursday and it talks about a Nebraska mother who was so desperate with what to do with her 13-year-old son that she was thinking about dropping him off at a safe haven.

In the article, the woman states that her son beat up a handicapped student, steals, smokes pot, beats up siblings, and could possibly be sexually assaulting another child.

Personally, I think that this kid has gone beyond safe haven and needs a stay at least in juvenile correction. But let me ask you the reader, do you think this woman dropped the ball somewhere along the line and what should she do?

  • Nebraska agrees to 30 days

30-day age limit on haven law advances in Legislature:

It seems that the Nebraska Legislature is leaning towards a 30-day limit for their new and improved safe haven law. This is expected to be law come Friday.

There were actually some people who wanted the law to remain wide open. The law was originally designed to prevent baby dumping but the way it was written Nebraska it led to lazy parenting in my opinion.

  • The Casey Anthony Addiction

Man Becomes Internet Celebrity By Following Caylee Case In TV Truck:

Is this how pathetic we’ve become as a society?

“There are people out there who are literally addicted to Caylee,” Murtaugh said. “The commercial media cannot provide everything we want. We want more. We’re addicted to it,” Murtaugh said.

Yet outside of Boston Giovanni Gonzalez gets almost no press. It’s a handful of bloggers, AMW and that’s it.

I know I’ve broken my Casey Anthony promise twice today but this just pisses me off.

  • Burn in Hell Rusty Yates

    (Guest post by Jade)

This morning I had the somewhat unusual experience of Trench asking me if I wanted to run with a story. He knows this is a story that has chapped my ass for many years, so of course, I had no trouble saying yes.

It seems my favorite DSD (defective sperm donor, for those not familiar with the term) Russell “Rusty” Yates is whoring himself in the media yet once again. The entire article can be read here but I’ll just highlight the parts relevant to me.

First and foremost is the fact that Yates himself never spent a second behind bars. The doctors told Rusty and Andrea because of the degree of her postpartum depression after her second or third child, it would be ill-advised to have any more. I always got the impression that in that marriage whatever Rusty-boy wanted, Rusty-boy got. He wanted more children, he got more children. It may never have occurred to Andrea to say no. They were a deeply religious family and in her mind, it would have been a sin not to honor her husband’s wishes. So, at his urging, she stopped her anti-psychotic medication in order to become pregnant again.

We all know how the story ends. Battling whatever demons were inside her brain at the time, and believing she was saving her children from going to hell, she methodically drowned all five of them. There was a public outcry for her execution, which the mother in me agreed with, but having suffered from a minor form of mental illness myself, I know that no rational human being would have done this.

My biggest problem with this whole story, indeed the biggest travesty of justice as far as I am concerned is that Rusty Yates never had to pay any sort of price for the deaths of his children. He wanted more children. He convinced her to stop her meds in order to become pregnant again. He dismissed her previous suicide attempts in order to get what he wanted – more children. How’d that work for you, Rusty?

Then he pledges to stand by Andrea through thick and thin. Yeah, that lasted. [/sarcasm]

Now he’s married to the second Mrs. Yates, Lisa, with a new infant son Mark. One has to wonder how long it will be before there are more children. One also has to wonder if his new wife is that insecure that she thought she’d never land a better man, or is she mentally ill as well. Those are the only two conclusions I can come to as to why any woman in the world would EVER marry Rusty Yates. They have already had a child, a beautiful son. Does Rusty look at him every day and suffer over the lives of his lost children. I hope so. I also pray every day that the current Mrs. Yates will wise up, take her child, and get as far away from Rusty as soon as possible. Can you imagine that child growing up hearing stories about his father’s ex-wife? You know it will only be a matter of time before he realizes his father was not innocent in the whole matter. And that will be one more child lost to Rusty.

Andrea Yates is now in a psychiatric facility receiving the care and counseling she so desperately needs. On her most coherent days, she realizes what she has done. That must be a horrible thing to live with. Rusty apparently has no such qualms. In my humble opinion, he should be serving a life sentence. He is just as guilty, if not more so than Andrea. What man (and I use that term very lightly) pressures his wife for more children knowing it’s endangering her mental health and the safety of the children? A fucking weak, spineless coward, that’s who. He should be serving a life sentence in prison. He should also be castrated before he can bring any more innocent children into the world to be destroyed.

This case has disturbed me for so many years that I become violently ill whenever I hear his name. Law enforcement may never be able to punish him, but just remember Rusty…karma is a bitch. One of these days you will have to stand before your Creator, and I can’t imagine that he’s going to be thrilled to see you. One can only hope that God feels the same as many of us and Rusty will spend the rest of eternity burning in hell.

  • Casey Anthony sues fake baby sitter

Mother of Missing Toddler Countersues ‘Baby Sitter’ Who Filed Defamation Lawsuit Against Her:

I know I said I wasn’t going to talk about Casey Anthony. However, this is the part of the story that fascinates me.

For weeks Cindy and Casey Anthony kept insisting that Caylee was taken by a baby sitter by the name of Zenaida Fernandez Gonzalez. I kept saying that if the Anthonys keep trotting that name out they’re going to get sued by somebody with that name. And they were.

Now Casey Anthony is countersuing Ms. Gonzlaez. You would think that she would have more pressing matters to attend to yet here we are.

Let’s hear from Casey’s hugable attorney Jose Baez…

Anthony’s attorney Jose Baez countersued Gonzalez Friday on the grounds that her lawsuit is “frivolous” and simply a publicity stunt by her lawyer, MyFOXOrlando.com reported.

Baez said Gonzalez filed her litigation “to harass and embarrass” Anthony, and her attorney John Morgan is attempting to “generate publicity for his law firm.”

“The Zenaida Gonzalez that Ms. Anthony was referring to drove a different car; she had a different name and she had less [sic] children than the plaintiff has,” the counter claim says. “In Orange County, Florida, alone, there are more than 20 listings for a Zenaida Gonzalez, and the plaintiff cannot prove that she has been defamed.”

Mr. Baez better watch his mouth before 19 more lawsuits come flying in. Then again it’s hard to be sued by somebody that Casey Anthony made up.

Father of Giovanni Gonzalez wants charges dropped:

    How’s this for gall?

The father of missing 5-year-old Giovanni Gonzalez, Ernesto Gonzalez, wants the child endangerment charges against him dropped even though Giovanni has still not been found. He’s also asking for the evidence that was seized from his house dismissed. You remember that evidence don’t you?

…the boy’s toys, a bottle of cleaner, a mop head, trash bags and a knife that was found on the kitchen floor.

    Yeah, that evidence.

A hearing is scheduled for December, 11th. He still didn’t have the cojones to look Giovanni’s mother in the eye.

  • The rush is on in Nebraska

Nebraska fears rush to drop off kids before haven law change:

While the Nebraska Legislature was holding an emergency session to see what could be done about their very loose safe haven laws three more kids were dumped off.

This past Thursday a 14-year-old boy and his 17-year-old sister were dropped off with the 17-year-old girl running off from the hospital. Also, a 5-year-old was dropped off at a different hospital in Omaha. Also, the article states that the DSD from Miami who dumped off his kid flew in so he doesn’t get the mile traveling record.

Legislators say it will be at least a week before the law can be changed. So now the Breeders still have time to dump off their kids before the holidays.

Thanks to Ed for the tip.

  • #31 in Nebraska

Safe Haven: Miami Boy Is State’s 31st:

Nebraska’s 31st safe haven drop off was recorded yesterday. This time it was an 11-year-old boy from Miami, Florida. It seems like that the local Nebraska media are so fed up with these stories they’re barely reporting on them.

I don’t know how the DSD* traveled to drop his son off but if he went by car he would be the new distance record holder since Miami to Omaha is 1600+ miles.

Will there be any more before tomorrow’s emergency meeting by the Nebraska Legislature?

  • Baby dumped in Charlotte McDonalds

UPDATE: Baby Left In SW Charlotte McDonald’s Restroom:

I love it when local stories make the national news and by love it I mean not really.

Anyway, an hours-old newborn was abandoned in a McDonald’s restroom in Charlotte, NC today.

A man took the infant into the women’s restroom and ran out of the building. A customer found the baby. The baby was rushed to the hospital, examined and was found to be healthy.

What’s the problem you ask? Doesn’t North Carolina have safe haven laws? Why yes, yes we do. The baby can be up to seven days old but must be left with a responsible adult. A McDonald’s restroom is not a responsible adult.

I wonder if the man was on his way to a responsible adult only to freak out at the prospect. Either way, police are saying that the mother could face charges.

Which leads to another issue. State safe haven laws are too confusing from state to state. In some states, a police station is a safe haven. In some states, it isn’t.

There needs to be a federal safe haven law.
