  • Hainstock denied new trial

    No new trial for Hainstock:

    John Klang’s killer will not be receiving a new trial. Sauk County (WI) Circuit Court Judge Patrick Taggart said in a written ruling that Eric Hainstock received a fair trial for the shooting death of Principal Klang in the halls of Weston High School. Judge Taggart said that the jury had plenty of other evidence that showed Hainstock was intent on killing Klang.

    “There is the physical evidence of the multiple shots delivered in close contact to the victim,” he writes. “Hainstock’s statements to others that Klang would not live to see homecoming (that evening), defendant’s statements to the janitor that he was there with two weapons to “(expletive) kill someone.”

    Hainstock, who was 15 at the time of the 2006 murder, is serving a life sentence.

  • Reader sends in another tutor scam

    I received the following e-mail from reader Krysta who encountered the old tutor scam…

    This guy’s emails were extremely fishy with some odd details. I looked up reports on tutor scams on craigslist and found them very similar to the ones already reported. Then I asked myself what is a UN peacekeeper doing in Eastern Oregon? Here is the scam:

    “I am pleased with whatever arrangement you could have made now concerning the hours to be having him the tutorial.Is name is Mike and he speaks danish and alil bit english language but not fluently.Okay according to the distances i think i will inform the nanny about it and she can be bringing him to you for the lesson wherever you have been choosing to be comfortable for you ,and this will bring him closer to your family and emulate a good morales from them.I would like to you get prepared starting with him by the middle of the month and i think that will be sometimes next two week.But as a teen tutor you should realize a better time table and housr to be taking kids and will be welcome with me.Nevermind,i will be making a payment of a month for this calaculated three hours every week,i guess it would be a cost fee of $720 by my own calaculation here and would like to make this payment out to you in a check,such that i will not finish with the money cos we have just been paid our royalties.i worked under the united nation as a peace keeping force. while i have lil time to visit home this time around while mike has been staying with his grandma before i finally take him to a nanny.Furthermore,i may required you not to recommend Fridays though, because all children have the concept of “Its friday, no more school!” and tend to have a hard time concentrating on fridays. And i would want you to give me a weekly reports and send me copies of your lesson plans for each lesson before or after the time of the lesson through the nanny.Nevertheless, I have also attached a picture of my son Mike with the nanny so that you will know how she and mike looks when you set to meet.I wish i have make myself cleared to you now and hoping you will take up this offer , Because i have made contacts with my son concerning the arrangement of the tutoring which he told me is ok by him because i always want the best for my son in life.i will be looking forward to hearing from you again.i would await the your information, so i can proceed on the payment asap.

    I guess Eastern Oregon has a problem with Somali pirates or something. ‘Is name is Mike’? Wow. This guy wasn’t even trying.

    Good morales? Pedro Morales? The first triple crown WWF title holder?

    I’m curious to know if he actually included a picture of Mike Jnr. and what the picture looked like.

    I guess he was waiting for the response before setting up his proposed victim for the fake check scam. Luckily Krysta was smart enough to do her research.

  • 11-year-old approached by predator on Facebook

    Facebook predator: Convicted sex offender allegedly tried to lure 11-year-old N.S. boy to Ontario:

    Brendon James MacNeill of Mississauga, Ontario was arrested recently for trying to lure an 11-year old boy from Nova Scotia on Facebook. MacNeill allegedly instigated the conversation with the boy. He said that he could hook the kid up with a 12-year-old girl from Quebec.

    Macneill is a high-risk sex offender who was just released this past March.

    While Macneill is a scumbag of the highest order I found this message a little ironic from the boy’s mother…

    The woman is warning parents to monitor their kids’ Facebook use closely.

    Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t Facebook’s minimum age 13?

  • Lori Drew will not kill the internet

    MySpace ruling could lead to jail for lying online daters:

    Another over-reactionary column about the Lori Drew conviction. I’m sick of them. This is not the end of anonymity on the internet. If it was I’d be the first person to sign off.

    Everybody is forgetting one certain thing. Lori Drew and company violated MySpace’s TOS with the expressed intent of harassing Megan Meier no matter what the outcome of that was. Unfortunately, the outcome of their actions was Megan’s suicide.

    I don’t think federal prosecutors are going to run around prosecuting everybody who uses a fake name on MySpace.

    Un-wad your panties people.

  • Has craigslist cleaned up?

    Cleaning up Craigslist:

    TV station WTNH from New Haven, Conn. thought it would see if craigslist new measures to limit erotic services ads has had any effect. Basically, it hasn’t.

    They also talked to Ray Bechard, the founder of Ahava Kids which help rescues Connecticut kids from prostitution. He had something familiar to say.

    “Well, here’s what I don’t understand — Craigslist has on its website, under services, a category called ‘erotic’ — if they just removed that, the problem would be mostly solved,” Bechard said.

    What a novel concept. I wonder why no one has said this before. Oh wait, they have, it was me.

    craigslist won’t do it because of all the traffic it brings to their site.

  • Tigard craigslist rapist sentenced

    Craigslist rapist sentenced to 25 years in prison:

    The holiday has put me behind on my postings. This actually happened last week but I’m just getting to it now.

    Anyway, one of the craigslist rapists has been sentenced to 25-years behind bars. That would be 53-year-old Ronald Marcus Leistiko of Tigard, Oregon. If you’ll recall Leistiko raped several women, mostly escorts, that he met through their craigslist ads. He also drugged up a minor to rape her as well.

    I can live with 25 years but a serial rapist like this needs to be behind bars permanently at least.

  • Lori Drew verdict

    Guilty verdict on lesser charges in MySpace case:

    First off I hope you all had a Happy and safe Thanksgiving those of you in the U.S. Now on to the story I’m sure you’ve been waiting for me to talk about.

    Lori Drew was convicted. As I’m sure you all know by now she was only convicted of the lesser misdemeanor charges of three counts of accessing a computer without authorization. The jury was hung on the felony count of conspiracy. If I remember correctly the most she can get is one year a piece for each of the misdemeanor convictions. Let’s face it though, she’ll do no time.

    U.S. District Judge George Wu still has not ruled on the defense’s motion for a mistrial which could result in there being no conviction whatsoever.

    I’m going to wait on Judge Wu’s ruling before I offer any further commentary because anything I say now could be made moot come Monday or whenever he decides to rule.

    California ‘haven’ youth in home state:

    The 14-year-old from Davis, California who was dropped off by his foster Breeder in Nebraska is returning to California.

    He’s now under the custody of his local social services department. That makes me wonder if his foster Breeder actually tried to find assistance within her community or was driving 1,170 miles to Nebraska her first choice.

  • I want to be your victim

    Not too many days ago it was the 2nd anniversary of Sebastian Bosse’s rampage at the Geschwister Scholl School in Germany where he injured 8 before taking his own life. In one of my trips through the land of the mutants, I saw some that posted a sort of tribute to Bosse saying that he’ll be godlike. If that wasn’t bad enough someone posted a follow-up that said they wished they could have been one of his victims.

    If your life revolves around the idolization of school shooters you need help. It’s that black and white. It’s wrong.

  • Florida gay adoption ban struck down

    Court: Florida Gay Adoption Ban Unconstitutional:

    Here’s something that may come as a surprise to some of my more conservative readers. I actually support gay marriage and this article about the Florida gay adoption ban being struck down is a good reason why.

    I make no bones about my stance of being pro-life because I was adopted. I would rather see a loving gay couple adopt children then have them end up in either an abortionists dumpster or end up on the street or end up being adopted by a straight couple who are just in it for the cash.

    I don’t see what the big deal about gay marriage is anyway. It’s not like straight people have done a whole lot for the alleged ‘institution’ of marriage. If marriage is such an institution straight people have burned the institution down and left a smoldering husk.
