Moore lawmaker sets sights on gang members:
Oklahoma State Rep. Paul Wesselhoft is trying to make it a state law where it would be illegal to belong to a gang. Of course, some people have a problem with this saying the law would be unconstitutional. Let’s take a look at the first amendment, shall we?
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Like I’ve said before, somewhere, the keyword is peaceably. Gangs by their own definition are the antithesis of peaceably. I don’t see the problem personally.
