Benoits argued about handicapped child

Benoits argued over care of son, WWE attorney says

According to the Associated Press, a WWE attorney is saying that Daniel Benoit’s medical condition was a great cause of stress for his mother and father, Nancy and Chris Benoit. Daniel Benoit was diagnosed with Fragile X Syndrome, a form of mental retardation that is sometimes accompanied with autism. The WWE attorney also said that Nancy Benoit wanted Chris Benoit to be at home more to help take care of Daniel. It’s alleged that Nancy said she could not take care of Daniel by herself.

First off, I thought investigators told the WWE not to release any more details. Why is the WWE airing the Benoit’s dirty laundry all of a sudden? They wouldn’t be trying to deflect some kind of responsibility, would they? Not that I think the WWE is responsible for their deaths but they sure are acting suspiciously.

Secondly is a $500K a year salary not enough money to be able to take care of a child with Fragile X Syndrome? Could they not have afforded someone to come in and help Nancy while Chris was on the road?

However, this new revelation if true makes me think of another possible motive for why the Canadian Coward killed his family. The article states that in the past Nancy had not asked Chris to quit wrestling. Maybe she did recently. Chris Benoit’s love of professional wrestling is legendary among hardcore fans. Maybe Nancy gave Chris an ultimatum. Either leave wrestling or I’ll leave. Not that that’s an excuse for killing your family.

I have a family friend who has a child that has been ill since birth. HE can not walk, talk or enjoy any bit of “normalcy” that most do. At 12, he’s completely dependant upon others to take care of all of his needs, and lives off of a feed tube. His mother, 5’2 and barely 100 lbs carries his around, and takes care of him 24 hours a day. I’ve never heard her complain, but it has been suggested that the child’s father spend less time working and more time assisting.

Amazingly (at least to the WWE I’m sure)the father has not murdered the two and then committed suicide. Just for putting this out there as a suggested “possible motive”, the WWE should be embarrassed and deeply shamed. Personally, I wouldn’t take the time to watch WWE if you crazy glued my eyes to the TV and turned the show on… but for those that do watch it- I hope this is a lesson to the real values of the organisation.

(wow that is so much longer than I thought it would be :D)

Wrestling is a big deal to millions of fans. Many of my friends are fans and none of them have taken this lightly. More important than the 30 something year old fans are the children who idolize these athletes.
I truly believe that Vince’s need to distance his company from this thing is more then just face value for his reputation.
There are statistics reported about (at this very site) that give good reason for kids to not be informed by one of their favorite shows, that one of their favorite heroes is a despicable murderer.
Vince McMahan is a ruthless businessman and no matter your opinion of his business is utterly brilliant in his field… but he also knows the impact his show has on its fans and is not as irresponsible as many critics have made him out to be.
I also do not believe that he feels any less of a loss now than he did before the facts came out in the media.
No matter the story, Benoit had a great many friends and millions upon millions of fans… asshole as he is in death, he was important to more people than he will ever be hated by.
