Scott Shefelbine arrested yet again

Sex Suspect Faces New Charges:

I couldn’t make this one up if I wanted to.

One of our most notorious predators profiled here has been arrested yet again. Scott Shefelbine was arrested again this past Tuesday on eleven, that’s 11, XI, um…eleven-o, new charges…ah ah ah ah ah. *lightning strikes* Ahem.

For those of you that haven’t had the displeasure of reading about Mr. Shefelbine’s past transgressions click here. This time he’s been charged with five counts of first-degree sexual assault, three counts of illegal sale of liquor to a minor, attempt to commit first-degree sexual assault, kidnapping and unlawful restraint, and a partridge in a pear tree.

To make matters worse, he’s out…AGAIN!!! So far, he’s posted $1M in bail, this time it’s $250K. Or should I say his family has posted his bail…

Shefelbine, whose family operates a computer business, posted the new bail Tuesday. His next court appearance on the new charges is Jan. 26.

Two questions here. Why doesn’t the court hold him without bail? I mean, he’s shown he’s a definite risk to re-offend. Secondly, why does his family keep paying his bail? Fool me once and all that. They’ll be lucky if they don’t lose their business.

And to make two points that I’ve made before, at least he hasn’t been arrested as many times as Connecticut’s other serial molester, David Leonard. And for a state that is so down on MySpace, they sure have trouble keeping predators off the street.

Thanks to Robin for the link.

I would say he keeps getting bail because he probably has proved he hasn’t run out on bail yet, and don’t they have him with some kind of monitoring device? So where is he gonna go that they don’t know where he is? The state is just soaking his family’s money up. The state probably figures they will just keep getting more money, so they let the family pay. And the family probably just wants to get as much time with him now, before he eventually does go away to jail. They probably realize that he may never get out once any of these many charges go to convictions.

I don’t think he has re-offended since his first arrest. If you read the articles the state seems to keep finding more and more charges against him in the past year or so. I can’t imagine he has been able to be near any female under 18 since he was arrested. Sounds like Shefelbine was doing this for a while and it is now all finally catching up to him. And the more the news covers it the more people see it and parents of these girls may be realizing their daughter was with him and then they are going to the police with more stuff.

Looks like that state wants to make Shefelbine and Leonard go away for life with all the charges and arrests they have on both of these guys.

In some ways, I do agree that the state is thirsty for the money that the family is happily giving to them. However, they need to get their heads out of their behinds and realize that this man is cocky and has a serious addiction. He has proven that he will violate his probation once, so what is going to prevent him from doing it again? His conscience? Doubt it. If the state is not going to at least lock him away in a prison during this whole process, then are they at least figuring out a way to alert the online chat sites and such? Being a victim of his almost two years ago, I can’t help but feel my heart sink when I heard that he boldly went out to meet another girl. I have a feeling that more and more people are going to come to the police with their statements against Scott as his case progresses. I want them to realize that no matter how long ago it was, the police can still use the information from their case, and maybe even be able to pin another charge on him. This man NEEDS to be locked up forever!
