The Return of the School Shooting:

This is an opinion piece from Blogger News Network about school shootings which also come to the most logical conclusion about them…

However, I think it’s important to note that kids getting picked on doesn’t explain the totality of the issue. Something had to make school shootings start in the first place in the mid-to-late ’90s — bullying has been going on for ages — and analyses of Columbine showed the shooters did not concentrate on those who’d picked on them, opting instead for “Doom”-style random violence.

My preferred explanation — one that ruffles feathers — is parenting. Many of these kids had plenty of time alone in their houses (Harris and Klebold made pipe bombs), and in most cases I can recall, the parents could easily have afforded quitting one job or working fewer hours. It’s also a parent’s job to monitor his/her children’s mental health issues, and keep guns away from the offspring if need be.

I think it’s the only explanation that stands up to scrutiny, as it’s one of the few explanations that changed markedly between my parents attending high school in the ’70s (much bullying, lots of access to guns, no shootings) and now. Other factors can make it wax and wane, but as long as parents let a violent media raise their kids, the shootings won’t disappear.

I’m glad to see that I’m not going crazy by having the same opinion.

    It was also partially the police’s fault. I mean, if the police acted on the disupute between Eric threatning to kill Brooks Brown, the house would have been searched and most of the weapons would have been discovered.

    I don’t even know why that did not happen because Eric said he had pipe bombs in the threat. I think that should be enough for people to think something could be up…

    Trench, I do not believe that you are insane to think that the parents had a role to play in the intrigues and the possession of weapon of their childrens. But where I believe that you make mystake, it’s when you seem to believe that it’s the principal reason. I believe that the case Harris Klebold is a tangle of releases. As regards the 14 year old kids which takes the weapons of their parents, it is different. The parents are directly responsible in those cases. Moreover, Harris was 18 years old at the time of the massacre. He had 17 when he got his weapons on November 22, 1998. they were not rifles of is father. Obviously, if the police officers had inquired, they would have found weapons at a 17 years kids closet, they would have removed them to him and would have punished him. But afterwards, what would it have made Harris? Probably like McVeight, bombs who works, and Harris would have thus made much more deaths and pain. It is true that Dyland Klebold seems to have been a sheep which wanted to play the wolf because he was misunderstood and hugly. Klebold was a hugly black sheep whith awareness which loved the wolves, and Harris needed Klebold to drive him. Perhaps Klebold could have been saved??? Probably Not. If I remember well, when I was 17 years old, I to hated my parents who wanted control everything, know everything. I also hated the authority and I put in anger each time that questions were asked. And more they asked me questions, more I wanted to hide my mind, cause they would condamn me. I wonder at which point the parents of the two boys were afraid of them… And how devoted parents can give their boys to justice when they did not still do anything? We are not yet in the 1980 of George Orwell. With respect,
