The Gustine and Golden Valley Unified School Districts are facing a lawsuit amid claims of hazing among football players on the Gustine High School football team.
A former student and his mother filed the suit after he allegedly suffered emotional, physical and sexual abuse from older teammates.
The student, then 14 years old, was allegedly assaulted with a battery-operated air pump, slapped with used condoms, and hit on the head with pillowcases filled with heavy objects.
The charges are directed at coaches and school officials from the Gustine and Golden Valley Unified School Districts, four former players, and the players' parents and guardians.
Madera County officials said the report suggests that activities during the retreat exceeded the bounds of routine hazing by team players and could result in charges of sexual assault and battery.
Gustine police said the incident may have involved two male victims and three male attackers.
Four students were expelled from Coopersville High School for hazing other members of the junior varsity baseball team.
Several Junior Varsity baseball players were suspended in May after reports surfaced a player was sexually assaulted in the team locker room. Witnesses said the assault involved the use of objects.
The hazing ranged from wedgies to sexual assault.
According to the report on one occasion, a toothbrush was used on a student, resulting in pain and possible penetration. Some of the members of the team also pulled down their pants and put their rear end in the face of the victims.
According to the district's investigation, the hazing included applying pressure to the victim's rectal area through their clothes using thumbs or fingers -- on one occasion, a toothbrush was used to apply pressure -- pulling down the perpetrators' pants and putting their rear ends in the face of victims, and using their hands in the victim's genital areas.
Three Southeast Missouri State University sorority sisters are scheduled to face a judge Monday.
Members of the Zeta Phi Beta are charged with misdemeanor hazing and assault.
Darleta McKennis-Weems is accused of making a pledge eat food taken from a garbage can. Ashley Moore allegedly punched the same girl in the chest. Jessica Reynolds is accused of spraying the pledge in the face with an unidentified liquid.
Each of the sorority members face up to a year and 15 days in the county jail as well as a $1000 fine.



The incident happened during the last week of July while team members attended Camp Wishbone in Bourne.
Police have charged Kevin Gonsalves Jr. and Dylan Parker, both 17 from Fairhaven, with indecent assault and battery of a person over the age of 14.
The unidentified juveniles are facing similar charges.
All four are scheduled to be arraigned in Falmouth District and Juvenile Courts on October 27th.
"The kids, from what I heard, said they were just joking and this, that and the other, but those are things you can't joke about," Hall said. "Prior to the things that took place at Columbine, you probably could get away with it, but in today's society, you can't get away with it, whether it's done jokingly or not."They have been expelled and may not be allowed back depending on the outcome of the investigation.

The boy said another youth pinned him to the floor and told others to take a "free shot." Several team members then allegedly struck and kicked him.
The boy also told police that another boy dropped his own pants, then rubbed his buttocks on the boy's head.
Finally, the boy said that while he was pinned down, an unknown upperclassman placed a 2-foot round metal rod next to him and said, "Defend yourself." The older boy then allegedly attempted to insert the rod into the youth's rectum.
Only one youth — a 15-year-old freshman player — has a case against him, and it will remain in juvenile court instead of being waived to adult court.
Although several players were accused, proceedings were dropped against all except the one teen.
Center Grove Schools Superintendent Candace Milhon-Baer said Aug. 7 the incident should not be classified as hazing but bullying. She has said privacy prohibits her from discussing any part of any action that will be taken against the student.School officials and coaches met with football players and other students about the existing bullying policy, she said.
The Sheriff's Department would not discuss why the assault charge recommendations were not for sexual assault. LiCalsi said Thursday afternoon that he had not seen the reports, but that most sexual crimes require carnal gratification on the part of one party or another to be prosecuted.
"We have that option. … We'll review it," the chief prosecutor said. "If we feel charges should be filed, we'll file them in Juvenile Court."

As details of the alleged assault at Camp Wishbone emerged yesterday, school officials said they were reviewing their internal investigation and met with parents about the state of the Blue Devils football program. The Cape & Islands District Attorney's Office, which is heading the criminal investigation, declined comment, but a source acknowledged that state police were interviewing witnesses.
The investigation includes allegations that players tossed semen from a cup onto the victim during the alleged assault in the dormitory-style barracks at Camp Edwards in Bourne, sources close to the investigation said.
