SC teen indicted on 3 federal charges in bomb plot:
Ryan Schallenberger has been indicted on three federal charges. However, the most severe charge of possessing a weapon of mass destruction has been dropped. That charge could have kept Schallenberger in jail for life. The other 3 charges could keep him in jail for 40 years.
The federal grand jury indicted Schallenberger for receiving and attempting to receive an explosive, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison; attempting to damage and destroy real property by explosive, which carries five to 20 years in prison; and possessing an unregistered destructive device, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years behind bars.
Schallenberger had ammonium nitrate delivered to his house in an alleged plot to attack Chesterfield High School in South Carolina.
