A 75-year-old Bossier school bus driver is accused of having sexual contact with two teenage boys who live near him and once rode his bus.
Thomas Smith Jr. used money to entice the 16-year-olds into his home and have them stick objects, such as cucumbers and sex toys, into his rectum, police said. He paid them $20 for each occurrence, the most recent about a month ago.
Smith did not molest the teens, who would come to his house when they needed money, but used them to gratify himself, according to police.
Detectives began their investigation Wednesday after receiving a tip from a confidential informant while investigating an unrelated burglary. They searched Smith’s home and recovered several things, including items he is accused of having the teens use to perform sex acts on him. Among those are a belt, a board and vegetables, Halphen said.

Police said Smith, who lived alone, admitted to indecent behavior with the juveniles and to paying adults who needed money for drugs to do the same thing. No charges were filed for acts involving the adults because it was consensual. One of the teens was 14 years old when it first happened, Halphen said.
Smith told investigators he got the fetish 40 years ago after watching a porn video. That same day, while living in New Orleans, he stopped at a grocery store and bought vegetables to use and has been that way since, Halphen said.
