Austin call girl strangled to death

Austin man arrested in death of woman found near store:

A lot of the time I get accused of picking on craigslist because of the erotic/adult services ads. People tell me that they’re not the only online venue of prostitution. You know what? They’re absolutely right. So I’m starting yet another feature here at the site about the dangers of prostitution and how it’s not a victimless crime and should not be legalized.

The new feature is called 22 Acacia Avenue. The name is taken from an Iron Maiden song about a fictional prostitute called Charlotte the Harlot and one man’s attempt to get her out of the business. You can hear the song here.

Now on to our first story of the feature.

Crazy Joe up there is 29-year-old Nathaniel Edwin Briscoe of Austin, TX. He’s been charged in the murder of Austin call girl Amy Elizabeth Dickey, 28. Allegedly Briscoe contacted her online for her services. He paid her $150 for sex. Then it’s believed that Briscoe strangled her to death. Can’t really call him another ‘craigslist killer’ yet because it has not been released what online venue he used. He then dumped her body in a wooded area. Her body was found on Thursday and police were able to track down Briscoe through her cell phone.

So let’s see, consenting adults? I doubt she consented to be strangled to death. Victimless? Hardly. Would this have had happened if prostitution was legal? More than likely.

To all the gals and guys who are thinking about turning to prostitution to make some easy money please don’t. Don’t be another victim like Amy Elizabeth Dickey. The same thing could happen to you or worse.

Thanks to Annette for the tip.

This is crazy. I went to middle school with her. Can't believe she ended up like this. I hope her family has the strength to deal with this.

It scares me that there is people out there like this crazy mo fo!! I was Amys first boy friend and she was a real nice and intellegent girl who just got mixed up in a crazy and out of the ordinary life but thats what she chose to do… That's no reason for this guy to come along and take her LIFE from all the people that LOVED her and the people that never got a chance to know her. TO THE MURDERER: I wish we lived in the times where it is said " An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth" and he should get the same thing he gave to her. RIP AMY

I know Nate. And although I don't know what happened in this situation. The Nate I know is a good guy from a good family! The stories in the media don't add up. I mean supposedly her ride waited there until 9am and didn't see him come out with a body to put in his car. I just wish people would stop judging him by how he looks in this picture. Remember INNOCENT until proven Guilty! But I do keep the victim and her family in my prayers. As well as his family.

    @Hidden:

I'd hide too, if I were online defending a murderer. Innocent until proven guilty only applies to a court of law – not the court of public opinion. If you don't like the coverage here, feel free to read an article about your friend in some other publication….although in this case, I really don't think the media venue will make any difference. But you can always try…..

Amy was a childhood friend of mine. She will forever be remembered as funny, outspoken, and full of life. Ironic I say that. I loved her and our times together. Nobody has the right to take someone's life. And it's such a shame her's was stolen from her. Amy may have made some poor choices but who hasn't? I will never judge her for her's. Only the lives she has impacted while she was here mattered.(There were a lot) Rob your a sweetheart for writing that about her. We all had some good times at Morris and McHi. She will always be beautiful and smart, so that's how I'll remember her. RIP Amy Amy

Trench really, most women I hear of in the media that get murdered are by their partners of by bad judgement…example – Natalie Holloway. I don't see you running them down the way you run down working girls. What happened to Amy was tragic and I feel the pain and can relate as I was an Escort for many years some of them in Austin just like her.

To Angel: people can pick any monika they choose when posting, you don't have to be so ignorant and rude. To his friends and family he was a good person, to us who don't know him he has done an evil thing and hope he gets dealt with. And yes whether you like it or not people are innocent until proven guilty.

I disagree. There's a whole section of the site about people who are killed or harmed by their partners.

And I don't see where I'm running down Ms. Dickey. Ultimately Briscoe is responsible for her death but it could have been easily prevented.

To those saying nate was a good person from a good family and that he is innocent untill proven guilty need to get a grip on reality. The night he killed my friend amy for no reason he was a demon possessed devil. He has no idea the ripple effect he has caused by his actions. Amy was a beautiful person. Talented and intelligent. She did not deserve to die. She had so much potential and I know she would have pulled through her current state of being. Nate admitted strangling her for 5 minutes. Forensic team determined she was killed in his apartment and then moved. There is no doubt he did this.

I would like it if someone could post a picture of Amy.
I was also a call girl from 1998-2003.
It's a time in my life I wish I could forget.
But this young lady did not deserve a death sentence for making a bad choice. He will pay for the rest of his life. I am grateful to God I got out of it before something like this happened. I wish I could have known her, she sounds like a nice girl and clearly there were people that cared for her, to her friends and family I am so sorry for your loss. I am so sorry this happened to her.

Thank you for your comment Michelle.

The more I think about this I just can't believe it. For those of us who knew Amy, we know she was a beautiful, caring, smart girl. She had an impact on all of our lives. She just reached a hurdle in her life that I know she would have eventually got over. She did not deserve this by any means. My heart goes out to Linda and the rest of her family. I look back to our junior high and high school years and can remember all the good times we had together. We were all so close and I know Amy will be remembered as a beautiful, caring, smart girl by all of us. RIP Amy.

    To Sarah:

Whether you like it or not, innocent until proven guilty does not apply universally. A court of law is required to maintain that position due to the laws of this great land of ours, but blogs do not have to adhere to the same standards. Don't confuse the internet or any of its blogs with the US court system.

P.S. If you are going to refer to another person as ignorant, you should probably proofread your own comments before posting.

  • Michelle Smith

He might have been a great person, but when you murder someone, unless it's self defense, it does'nt matter what kind of person you are.
I think anyone that takes a human life, unless they are defending themselves or a family member, should spend the rest of their life in a cage, I am not sure if I support the death penalty. I think it's safe to say if he is found guilty by a court of law or a jury of his peers, he will be put on death row, this is Texas and we put more people to death than any other state.

  • http://crimene.ws Trench Reynolds

True but it's Austin which isn't that death penalty friendly.

This makes me terribly sad. Amy was a very sweet girl that happened to have a problem with addiction. I can't believe it got to the point that she turned to prostitution.

She was a great girl with a good heart. Makes me terribly sad… and sick that someone would do this to her.
