Report: Hunting Rifles Sought For Columbine-Style School Massacre:
The three suspects in the DeLand Middle School plot were actively attempting to get their hands on firearms according to police.
The affidavit also said the teens were actively trying to get hold of a gun — even getting permission from friends who had hunting rifles, Local 6 reported.
The mother of one of the suspects is playing the not my kid card…
Charlene Russell’s mother, Ruth, said her daughter was picked on at school.
“The only thing she has said was that she was sick of being picked on at school all of the time,” Russell said. “They said that she was diagnosed with anti-social personality disorder and that is wrong. I got her diagnosis and it is oppositional defiance disorder and a conduct disorder.”
I’m sure our resident amateur psychologist will weigh in and explain to us what the difference is.
To me it sounds like just one more parent not paying attention.

Comeon I am at least amateuresque, I work with people with these conditions so I think I know a bit about them. ASPD means that to an extent you just don’t care about others, talking to them, dealing with them, or anything like that, in extreme forms it is almost along the lines of sociopathy. ODD/CD means you are prone to anger quickly and can be violent when provoked, generally your a good person but watch out when the person is provoked, in this case you certainly do care about others you are just violent. In most cases this is extremely treatable but with the combination of CD that can take quite some time. So the mom is basically saying my daughter cares she can’t always control her anger.
So is the violence an outburst or can it be a slow burning plot as the police describe?
Generally the former, this case doesn’t make sense either way to me. If the child was ASPD she wouldn’t care about being bullied and picked on, at least not like this appears to be (she would have never told anyone anyway, she might have seen it as her Columbinesque motive but she wouldn’t tell her parents how tired she was of it). If the child was ODD she would just react and get it done with. I am not really sure what this sounds like, probably just a severe case of depression with conduct disorder (not ODD) attached.
I really think there needs to be mental screning done for every child as they enter each level of school. Then once they hit high school it should be like twice a year and we need to have people listen and get real help. The PO Po are not always the best idea.
You know you must be a real butt head, to think these kids are anything more than depressed and lashing out at a system that has failed them. These kids did tell the staff at he school about the bullying and nothing was done so they struck out in the only way they knew how. Look at what you wrote they were looking for hunting rifels, can you tell me where they were going to carry them, let me see in there pocket wow whos going to see it there. Your the mutannt dumb ass!
Yeah because people like Eric Harris, Dylan Klebold and Jeff Weise weren’t able to bring a rifle into a school.
