Investigation Discovery challenges armchair sleuths

I received the following press release from our friends at the Investigation Discovery channel.
The recently renamed Investigation Discovery (ID) channel has launched a new branding campaign to help audiences experience the ?new authority in real investigations.? Highlighted by a mock missing-person investigation manifested on-air, online and via phone, the campaign?s feature elements launched in concert with the new network name.
The centerpiece of ID?s campaign draws viewers into a thrilling missing-person investigation. Viewers help solve the mysterious case by piecing together embedded clues from multiple platforms including a series of eight on-air promos; online microsites and blogs; and via voicemails. Investigation Discovery retained Stun Creative and their design studio, Buster Design, to crack the case on this unique campaign by creating the serial, live-action promos and a comprehensive on-air branding package.
?To excite our viewers about the channel?s new brand, we wanted to draw them in through an activity emblematic of Investigation Discovery,? said Derek Koenig, senior vice president of marketing for Investigation Discovery. ?Stun Creative and Buster Design?s work to thread the missing-person investigation throughout cleverly constructed dramatic promos, or ?dromos,? reveals the essence of ID?s brand.?
Each of the on-air spots has crucial clues embedded that help viewers track the missing-person case alongside John Brannan, the lead homicide detective who is assigned the case. The on-air clues toss viewers to call voicemail messages, visit microsites like www.detectivebrannan.com and explore ID?s website for additional leads that help paint a clearer picture of the on-air campaign?s storyline and eventually help solve the case. The campaigns three initial 60-second spots run through the month of February, followed by five additional spots, which will debut this spring. In between the on-air campaign?s flights, the investigation?s storyline continues online through elements like entries to Detective Brannan?s blog, virtual-tours of his office and opportunities to review crucial documents of the investigation.
Detective Brannan’s blog can be found here.
