Attack at Antietam Middle-Senior High School

Yesterday there was an an attack at Antietam Middle-Senior High School in Lower Alsace Township outside of Reading, PA. A lone unnamed 13-year-old male student burst into a classroom armed with knives, firecrackers, and a propane torch while wearing the prerequisite trench coat and listening to an MP3 player. He was able to wound three students in the attack with a giving them all minor injuries.
Several students tried to subdue him but were unsuccessful. He was eventually disarmed by school officials.
When it appeared the boy was unwilling to surrender, another teacher, English instructor David Kase, walked up behind him and swatted his arm, knocking the propane torch from his hand, Principal James Snyder said.
“We pushed him to the wall and kept him to a confined area so he wasn’t going anywhere,” Snyder said. “He wasn’t saying anything to us.”
A motive for the attack is yet unknown and the suspect allegedly did not fit into some other stereotypes of a school attacker.
“This was not a student who was a regular or frequent flyer to my office for discipline at all,” Snyder said. “I would classify him as a regular student, nothing that strikes me out of the ordinary. I’ve replayed this in my mind … and there is nothing that triggers me to say I saw this coming.”
It seems the suspect did not have many friends though.
Seventh-grader Mckenzie Okonski, 13, who knows the suspect and saw him minutes before the attack, said he did not get along very well with others, often making fun of people who in turn ridiculed him.
“He acted tough but he was not tough at all,” she said.
I guess it’s hard to have friends when you’re too busy being anti-social.
It seems that the suspect was planning on taking the coward’s way out since there was a note found at his house that read “Mom, I’m so sorry. I love you. Goodbye.”
After police had the suspect in custody they said that the suspect also had a gasoline can, a bottle filled with a flammable liquid, more knives and a face mask allegedly so he wouldn’t have to breathe in fumes.
The suspects house was also searched last night. No details of the search have been released.
As of now he’s being charged as a juvenile which I wholeheartedly disagree with. He stormed the school with the intent to kill others, burn down the school, and possibly killing himself. As I’ve stated previously juvenile charges are for shoplifting and vandalism not attempted murder. That’s just pure speculation on my part as the charges have not been formally filed as of the time of this article.
The victims were treated for minor injuries and released.

“When my boy died, there was a memorial service held for him, and at the school a big piece of paper was placed on his hall locker for the students to sign and say goodbye,” Bill Taylor said. “A lot of them wrote that they thought Curtis was a nice person. But I could only think, where were you kids? Why weren’t you his friends?”
Sadly, it sometimes takes things like this to make people stand up and pay attention. Trust me, not much has changed in the city in which that was written since the boy died.
First time offender in any way shape or form who is pushed too far by his life; of course you want him to spend life in jail. I mean screw compassion, we have the chance to make sure someone dies (methophorically anyway) here; we better take advantage of it!

That Curtis Taylor story sure is a hoot. For three years the Dad stood by and refused to homeschool his kid.
Just about to graduate with honors here. Will be student teaching next fall, then will go to Kansas University (yes I know, such a crappy university with education, they are only 2nd in the nation in what I am going into!) next spring. Yep I am such a failure; I should be a racist homophobic bigit like yourself.
Kansas is a great school. Really, you should be very proud.

He died when I was 7 :-/, if you are going to insult me make sure it makes sense first. You seem like you know about the KU D&D club from experience. Hell, I didn’t even know they had one, I just wanted to go to the best school possible (yeah they are 2nd but 1st doesn’t have a program for autism spectrum disorders, plus its nowhere near as local). I posted that just showing you that the boy could kill himself and nothing would happen, he hurts others and parents are begging to bring counselors into the school.

Yeah since there is only one way to kill yourself. Keep a good eye on all you knifes, rope (hell shoelaces have been used there), meds, etc. Thats a really easily job to do.
Tell me what the difference between NVLD and AS is and you can call me self diagnosed. But even if you do that I will find a professional site that disagress with you (don’t you love it when no one can agree) so that is rather pointless. I don’t deny that there is head trauma in my past, but then again, so what?

I can call you self diagnosed because that’s what you are. Just like I told another alleged Asperger’s sufferer around here. Just because you’re socially inept it doesn’t mean you have a disease.
I am diagnosed with nonverbal learning disorder. If you want me to I can show you the papers to prove it. NVLD and AS are practically the same thing, you could write all the differences in about 2 short sentences, most of which are of a degree not of a kind. However, as people know what AS is and not neccessarily what NVLD is, it generally helps confusion to just call myself AS.
Lol, do you have kids? I really doubt its that easy to keep every last thing a kid could kill himself with locked up. And if he never gives you a reason other then crying to do it, would you? I mean a kid can kill themselves with shoelaces, you really want to try keeping those locked up. What about every last bottle of Tylonal… Seriously, now, you really think it is that easy to do all that or are you just digging a deeper hole trying to get yourself out.
