An excerpt from a fairly short article:
A Crandall Avenue man told police Saturday morning he shot another man to death after an argument over a video game because he wanted Â?Â?to protect me and my family.Â?Â?
Here’s a tip, Einstein: If the best defense you can come up with is “I killed him over a video game because I wanted to protect ‘me and my family’”, the only thing that should be coming out of your mouth is “I want to see a lawyer”. Fortunately it’s too late for him to take that advice.

I bet it was a Madden game.
I’m dating myself, but when me and my brothers used to play our Atari 2600, my Mom had to take away the tank battle game because we would beat each other up over the outcome. But it never came to gunplay.
Combat FTW.
All I know is they ain’t stopping me from getting Manhunt 2… I gots that biotch already
w00t !
Manhunt and its sequel are probably the only games that I could even begin to entertain the idea of actually leading to violent crime in a roundabout way.
no more than a violent movie, hence the rating system … so parents know the content and do not buy the game for their kids.
…and we all know how that works out, because the parents would rather have a $50 babysitter than actually spend time with their kids.
The first argument that has long annoyed me. Actually doing something, even if it’s virtual, has more influence on behavior than merely watching it happen.
However, I fully agree with the second argument.
On a sidenote, please check your private mail in the forum.
the games are meant for mature people who can handle adult content… not children who do not know the difference between real life and video games.
I responded to your pms
Actually the BBFC funded a study that determined games had *less* of an effect on your behavior because of their interactive nature.
And this is coming from the same agency that refused to classify Manhunt 2, effectively banning it from retail stores in England.
Well, I’ll be damned. I still don’t like the games, of course, but my final argument against adults playing them just got shot down. Thank you for correcting me.
