Judge: Hainstock not coerced:
Sauk County Circuit Judge Patrick Taggart has ruled that Eric Hainstock was not coerced nor did he have his Miranda rights “rammed down his throat” by police.
“The court finds that the officers were careful to make sure that this juvenile understood his rights, could have his parents notified if he wanted them to be notified and a review of the recording disclosed a juvenile who, although he may have had educational shortcomings in certain areas, demonstrated an ability to recognize his rights and to proceed without an attorney or his parents present,” he wrote.
This trial should be relatively short.

What other tricks can the defense play? How about the ol’ “tainted jury” trick by claiming that he can’t get a fair trial due to press coverage?
Is it rare for a state to be able to talk to a minor without his parents present? That just seems weird to me.
Personally I think most trials of this nature should have a change of venue. Look at the Kenneth Bartley case where 2/3s of the jurors admitted to having already made up there mind at jury selection. I just don’t see how a change of venue hurts anything.

Just curious how do I use it? I never once at my college asked to have a single even though I had extreme difficulties with sleeping and roommates (even the sound of typing is enough to keep me awake.) I don’t get any services in class except that of using word processor for tests (and I tell every teacher they don’t have to allow that, though it’s in their best interest too.) I don’t collect disability money even though I probably easily could. I didn’t tell my college anything about it until I got in even though it would probably help with admittance. I don’t tell profs about it besides to tell them that I use word processors for tests (even then I just say I have dysgraphia and they don’t care) even though it could help with grades. So tell me do I really use my disability at every turn?

Im pretty sure the phrase “back in the day” could mean a decade or more. To answer your question about what school I went to, I am a Juliard graduate who received by ph.D from Oxford. I got my Masters from Princeton and received an honorary degree from Duke. I twice won the nobel prize for chemistry and was once even nominated (as a joke) for the peace prize.
