The title says it all.

According to the story, seventeen year old Jeff Cota of Milton, Vermont, was diagnosed with bone cancer last fall. On Sunday, he and his parents were in Boston for his medical treatment, and the break-in occured while his sister was at work.

Considering the timing, the police are operating under the reasonable assumption that the thieves knew about Jeff’s condition, that he owned the system, and that the house would be empty that day.

Now, theft is never a very kind thing to do, but, if the police are correct, specifically targetting a cancer patient? That’s low, even for a thief. I hope they catch the person(s) responsible and throw the book at them. Maybe a couple of grenades, too.

  1. And yes, for those wondering, I didn’t see Trench’s earlier story when I’d posted this ;) Serves me right for not reading up before I posted!
