Police to secure Joplin school:
Joplin High School in Missouri has heightened security in the wake of text messages that allude to some kind of threat to take place on Friday the 13th. Joplin is also the city where Thomas White fired his parents’ rifle in Memorial Middle School. No threat has been substantiated.
Spanish Fork girls arrested for list:
Two girls, ages 13 and 16, from American Leadership Academy in Spanish Fork, Utah have been arrested on charges of making terroristic threats for a hit list they were passing around. Most are saying the hit list was a joke but Assistant Director Kalin Hall gets it right…
“The kids, from what I heard, said they were just joking and this, that and the other, but those are things you can’t joke about,” Hall said. “Prior to the things that took place at Columbine, you probably could get away with it, but in today’s society, you can’t get away with it, whether it’s done jokingly or not.”
They have been expelled and may not be allowed back depending on the outcome of the investigation.
Report of Sexual Assault May Have Been Fabricated:
A football locker room retaliation, at Lehi High in Utah, that was alleged to be a sexual assault has more than likely been fabricated. The teen who claimed he was a victim has been charged with providing false information to law enforcement officers.
Aftermath of a hoax:
Meanwhile in Albuquerque a 13-year-old girl, named Julie McEwen, who recently transferred to James Monroe Middle School has been charged with a misdemeanor count of filing a false police report. She sent the school into lockdown when she claimed an armed man dressed in black was walking the halls. The article states she’s having trouble adjusting to the new school…
“She said she hated her (expletive) school,” Albuquerque police spokeswoman Trish Hoffman said, describing the girl’s confession.
This stunt isn’t going to win her too many friends.
