Judge Sets Bail For Accused Teen School Shooter:

(AP) BARABOO, Wis. A judge set bail at $750,000 Monday for a 15-year-old boy accused of killing his high school principal after prosecutors said the teen may have been looking for others to attack as well.

Sauk County District Attorney Pat Barrett told the judge there were other “persons of interest” for Eric Hainstock when he went to Weston Schools in Cazenovia Friday morning and shot Principal John Klang. She told reporters after the five-minute hearing that Hainstock may have had additional targets picked out.

“There were potentially other people that he had a beef with at the time,” she said, but did not elaborate.

Hainstock’s attorneys asked for $10,000 bail, saying the teen has lived in the Sauk County area his whole life and has no convictions.

But Circuit Judge Patrick Taggart agreed with Barrett.

“It goes without saying the public does need protection in this matter,” he said.

$10,000 bail for shooting a man at point blank range in cold blood? Defense attorneys never fail to crack me up.

Search warrants show deputies found a note at Hainstock’s house from him to his father, along with boxes of ammunition, discipline reports from Weston Schools and a photo of a girl with her eyes poked out. Klang gave Hainstock a disciplinary notice for having tobacco in the school Thursday, the day before the shooting, according to the criminal complaint.

Court records also say Eric Hainstock had a medical condition that affected his behavior but he was not receiving treatment because the family could no longer afford drugs or counseling.

It seems like to me they just were too lazy to get him treatment or didn’t care. There are state agencies and programs designed to help people like this. Not that any of this is an excuse for killing.

  1. I don’t know about their family, but there are plenty of folks who fall into the abyss of being both too poor and too rich.

I can’t speak for them on their specific case because such things do tend to be complex. Job/no job, income too much of one kind, not enough of another. And so on.

$10,000 is pretty low. I think they forgot they were in adult court.

I wonder who the girl was in the picture with her eyes poked out. Ex-girlfriend? Ex-friend who betrayed/played him? Hmmm….

Society is to blame for what happened to this child. We as American citizens can not let this child be thrown to the wolves. We need to ban together to save Eric; the boy society has turned their back on. It is not to late.

    Good.

He will be tried and convicted as an adult. He will be housed with adult prisoners. He will be another warehoused child only to endure isolation, rape, abuse and neglect.

He should have thought of that before he pulled the trigger.

Society is to blame for what happened to this child.

I guess the ‘blame society’ spiel never gets old for you people. Whatever happened to personal responsibility?

We as American citizens can not let this child be thrown to the wolves.

    Sure we can.

We need to ban together to save Eric; the boy society has turned their back on. It is not to late.

Why don’t you ban together to save John Klang? Oh that’s right. You can’t becaue Hainstock killed him.

I heard about you people when I was researching the story of Eric Schorling. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves for defending a psychopathic nazi wannabe who plunged a kitchen knife into his ex-grilfriend’s back in the middle of school. Then to make it worse your ‘community’ says nasty things about the victim.

People like you make sick. Instead of trying to get help for killers why not try to help kids who are being prosecuted but are innocent like Tobin Kerns and Joe Meredith?

  4. Wait for facts to come forward. says:

The facts will come out and rather than listen to more spin whether political or otherwise, wait for facts to judge on for yourself. Political spin is everywhere. Be different and join the club who waits for all of the facts and make your own independent decision about any situation. Interesting case; I wonder if a lawsuit against the parents for responsibility or lack of it by the widow would be useful here as in another case on this website about Campbell County High school violence? Really, it may help parents try harder to address their own children’s problems in the future.

  5. Justice for Juveniles is mostly all spin in all of these cases that they choose to support the “child” who murders another human being. If anyone disagrees with them they are accused as being against children. If you agree with them as in the link to Youth Liberation Front from Justice for Juveniles then that is alright; even if you are a site that seems to support anarchism like Youth Liberation Front. Nutty group.

  6. Samantha Johnson says:

I am a friend of Eric and we both went through alot!! I agree with his attorneys, Eric should get another chance at life!! We all make mistakes! There are others whose done worse and got only alittle time like 5 years if that!!

Plaese give him a 2 chance!!

  7. Here is an article from the Minneapolis Star Tribune that would indicate back in 2005 his artwork was a little alarming. Probably an unoticed warning sign of things to come. Quoting Star TRibune article–”According to a school newsletter, Hainstock also was an artist who worked with acrylic paint. His work was entered in a local art contest in 2005, and one of his pieces — a design featuring the word “slayer,” flames and the letter “A” with a circle around it, a symbol for anarchy — was still hanging outside the school cafeteria Friday.”

  8. I am just wondering what you mean by your statement there are others have done alot worse? And gotten only 5 years? What is worse than killing someone innocent? I don’t think there is anything worse than to be dead. Just my opinion.

  9. On your comments about Zachary Gidian who macheted his sleeping father’s head off-allegedly-and is said to have confessed to it…to the police..poor boy is being tried in adult court and of course you spin the usual way on behalf of any child who kills.

You are really the queen of internet spin (Just my opinion) on behalf of the ‘child’ who kills…I have to give you that. Just like a political campaign from the moment news breaks of yet another poor child who kills and is charged in adult court I guess that is your whole premise…Quoting comments from the case of a ‘child’ of 20 years old who took a machete’ and beheaded his sleeping father and then confessed to it posted in an New York newspaper:
    “Cari Barichello wrote:
” I totally agree In SC. People need to speak up. The defense lawyer should have put up witnesses, especially his Mother. Children do protect their parents. But also, children who kill a parent many times do so because of abuse.
If Zack’s mother seen her husband sexually molesting this boy then this all makes perfect sense. The woman finally did something to protect her son and now the son falsely confessed to protect her. Shame on that Mother. How can she live with herself knowing she is throwing her son to the wolves for what she did.
As for Zacks father being a beloved police man, police do lie and they do abuse. They will do anything to get a confession and they do abuse because many times they think they are above the law.
Please visit http://www.justiceforjuveniles.org and read the many stories of children bullied and lied to by police. Read the story of a 13 year old boy who falsey confessed to protect his sister. Read about all the abuse many of these children have endured before they killed their parents. Read how they are tried and convicted as adults even though they are just children only to be warehoused for the rest of their lives. Read how they will get no rehabilitation, no counseling, no second chance to prove they can be good citizens if just given a second chance.
Many grow up so abused mentally and physically and instead of helping a child, we throw them away. It needs to stop now. Yes anyone who knows of Zack’s home life needs to step up NOW. Don’t let them torture this boy anymore.

Zach is NOT a child !!!!! He is 20 years old !!!
His lawyer didn’t put up witnesses because he’s guilty as sin.You cant get people to lie that much.”

HOPE SANTA LEAVES YOU A LARGE LUMP OF COAL.
