Teens planned to warn friends of bomb plot:
More details out of Green Bay…
Sturtz first told detectives the plan was to place “bombs in school by the toilets and set them off and they would shoot guns into the ceiling because the students were picking on them.”
Sturtz later told police the plan dates back three years and developed after Sturtz and Cornell felt they were going through the same pressures as the two students responsible for the 1999 attack on Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo. Sturtz said Netwal was made aware of the plan about six months later and joined “to get revenge on some kids at school.”
Cornell told police he was depressed and suicidal and became fascinated by the attack on Columbine as a sophomore. The original plan was to shoot other students with shotguns but was adapted to include bombs and a napalm-like fuel to set the exits on fire.
Cornell told police he cut off the barrel of his father’s shotgun and had it in a duffel bag in front of his dresser with a .40-caliber handgun and an AK-47-style assault rifle. A box in his sister’s bedroom held explosives, including make-shift bombs and jars containing a pastelike-mixture of gasoline and dissolved Styrofoam, Cornell said.
Cornell told Netwal the plan would have to be carried out soon because Cornell’s father was looking for the shotgun that was recently sawed off and would discover that the weapon had been modified. Cornell also noted he had just mixed up a batch of the napalm-like fuel.
Police seized a cache of weapons from Cornell’s home, including numerous shotguns, rifles and a .40-caliber handgun. They also seized helmets, toy guns, BB guns, diagrams, holsters, knives, machetes and the book “Bully. A True Story of High School Revenge.”
Police found a facsimile handgun at Sturtz’s home along with ammunition and numerous knives.
Officers took a .22-caliber rifle, a BB gun, several knives, shotgun ammunition, handheld radios and a global positioning system device from Netwal’s home, according to the list of items seized.
So let’s go over the highlights shall we?
If you had a shotgun missing would you look for it over the course of a few days or would you immediately turn the house upside-down looking for it? Not only that but these kids were depressed and fascinated with Columbine for 3 years and no one ever picked up on it?
Is paying attention too much to ask?

I have a comment to make about this whole thing and all the others as well and I hope to God no one takes it wrong and thinks I am playing devil’s advocate, ok?
When I went to school, I was bullied. It was a while back as I graduated H.S. in 1985. Our problems then with the local bullies were not so much different than they are today, except that todays bullies have now taken it to a whole new level. There were a few that you feared and avoided, etc. And I managed to survive without shooting, maiming or bombing anyone. BUT, I can remember thinking when I was going thru all that shit. “Why do the teachers here ALLOW me to be bullied?” They are adults, afterall, and are put there to see to my education, and to HELP me should I have any problems. Which they didn’t, period.
Today, as I have now studied criminology for many years, I can see that the problem is worsening. Bullies just don’t stand outside the doors threating you with a punch in the nose if you don’t give up your lunch money or cigarettes. Oh no. And there isn’t just one or two or them like there used to be. It seems to me that there are GANGS of them.
Might I draw your attention to the hazing incidents mentioned here in your blog for a moment, please, Trench? Who do you think DOES these things? That’s right, the bullies who these kids say are traumatizing them. And might I add here that near rape of teenage boys playing in sports by their team mates IS, in fact, traumatizing and it IS bullying. And todays kids are carrying knives to school to aid in their bullying, etc. I never saw a weapon at my school, thank God. Now I don’t know about you, but THIS type of bullying never existed at the time I was going to school.
Before someone jumps me and calls me a mutant, I would like to point out that I do not think that violence is the answer to ANYTHING, EVER. So I am not advocating these types of kids. I am simply pointing out that it is long overdue past the time where the issue of school bullying needs to be addressed in our schools, with the local law enforcement, and in the courts or we will continue to see this dangerous ripple effect.
For christs sake a judge even suspended some recent sentences of little jock thugs so that they could continue to play school sports instead of putting them behind bars where they belong because what were they? Bullies. What were the guys that have been hazing these kids? Bullies. And no one seems to be doing a damned thing about it, period. Some things that SHOULD change never do.:(
Now I might be wrong, but in a society where kids have not only become to afraid to join sports, go to school, or God forbid have even taken to thoughts of revenge such as shooting kids at school, you would think that that society would begin to take appropriate steps to try to correct the issue and put a stop to this madness. But as of yet I have yet to see it. Bullying as well as revenge of bullying has got way the hell out of control. And as long as this is not being addressed, I see no end to this hellish mess. And lets face it, people, bullying is not exactly conducive to a decent education.
Remember the film “Revenge of the Nerds”, guys? Didn’t we ALL think it was funny? I know I did. Didn’t we think it was ALL so cool, the goofballs getting the last laugh? Well the days of asking for your lunch money are over, and getting even by tossing water balloons are also over. As I pointed out, todays bullying methods have risen to sexual assault and carrying knives and ropes, and todays revenge has got to the point of “I will kill ‘em all.” And still I hear NOTHING, see NOTHING, no forums, no school meetings, no teachers conferences, NOTHING on the issue that has LONG AGO needed to be addressed of bullies in the schools.
Old school thinking has no room in a modern educated society where Columbines and Dawsons exist of “boys will be boys”. These bullying incidents need to be addressed, and if necessary, ALL bullies tossed right out of school on their asses. Because in the world we live in today, I feel that our children have a right to go to school, dammit, without the threat of some sadistic asshole ready to do them emotional or physical harm waiting on them in the halls. Times have changed, the crime has changed, and so should we.
In Britain this year, a girl was stabbed several times including once in the eye by bullies at her school because she likes the band AC/DC. What the HELL? She had been bullied by these other girls for months and yet nothing was done about it. Her attempted murder perhaps will get some result??? I can only hope because 47 children, average age around 13 comitted SUICIDE in Britain last year because they were not violent, were being horribly bullied, and no one was doing anything about it.
So in conclusion, I would like to say that if a person is trying to end a problem, and school shootings HAVE become a huge problem, then one must look at the factors mitigating the problem. When you cut it all up into individual issues, then it is plain to see that bullying HAS increased in the schools, the violence behind the bullying has also increased, and as a result, it is making some of these kids NUTS. Living in CONSTANT fear will do that to a person. Solution: The public school systems need to take a good, hard look at this nasty issue and get rid of it. School athletes should NOT be immune to discipline simply because they might bring the school a championship this year. There is NO excuse for adults to ALLOW children to hurt, maim, prod at, poke at, and abuse other children. And I am sorry, but if nothing is being done about, then it IS allowing it to go on. Then, and only then, we may be able to get these kids back, get in touch with them, and begin to heal this problem and prevent further occurance. Sorry I was so long winded.
Thank you for your time.
I happen to go to Green Bay East, and Nettie explained their motive beautifully.
