TOLEDO — He’s only 16-years-old, but a local boy will go to prison for a long time, and will be labelled a sexual predator for the rest of his life. This morning, Lucas County Common Pleas judge Frederick McDonald sentenced Cristoffer Curey for sexually abusing an 8-year-old boy at a south Toledo arcade on New Year’s day.
The incident happened at Nickel World. Prosecutors say Curey used a toy to lure the 8-year-old boy into a bathroom, then held him captive, and raped him. Curey was living in a group home at the time, and on a field trip to the arcade when the crime happened.
In court, Curey said he was sorry and that had a difficult childhood, including being raped as a child himself. Judge McDonald pointed out that has a history of committing sex crimes and admitted to molesting 5 other boys and a girl. He then sentenced Curey to 16 years in prison for rape and kidnapping charges.
McDonald also labeled Curey a “sexual predator” which means he will have to register his address with the sheriff’s department every 90 days for the rest of his life once he gets out of prison.
This is not the first time Curey has seen the inside of a courtroom. In 2003, he was convicted on charges of gross sexual imposition. He was ordered to undergo counseling.
A repeat offender. Go figure.
